.....VITTORIO STORRARO SAID UR STORY NARRATIVE HAS HAD TO BE IN SYNC WITH VISUAL NARRATIVE .....WHEN ANALYZED
IT REFLECTS THAT .....THANKS AND REGARDS .....HE ALSO SAID SOME THING ON THE LINES OF UR VISUALIZATION OF UR SCRIPT COMES FROM CHARACTERS AND THEIR JOURNEY BY DRAMATIZING IT WITH COLOR LIGHT AND COMPOSITION .....UNLESS U SEPARATE LIGHT AND SHADOW COLOR BY COLOR ONLY THEN U KNOW WHAT LIGHT IS ......LOVE AND RESPECT FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY

Nice breakdown of the lighting scheme. Haven’t seen the movie even though I have heard a lot about it. More reasons to watch now 👍👍

I would add one thing and maybe open a discussion regarding the softness of the shadow you commented at 3:10. I think the light was not made more diffused, it was kept the same for the two shots, what changes is the actor's relative distance to the source along with a different distance from the same actor to the wall. In the shot we see his shadow with softer edges he is a bit closer to the window and also further away from the wall which combined make the shadow softer. You can see that in the long shot where we see both the actor's shadow and the shadow from the objects on the table, they have different softness. I would add one more thing regarding the amount of fixtures they are using. Even though they are probably using only two light sources as you mentioned (disregarding the ones they are probably using for the background) there is more to it meaning they are shaping and bouncing it as a soft kicker in one shot or a fill light in some other one. I think is not that likely that the light is as it would be if you were to just point the light source inside the room and rely on it to bounce. Vittorio Storaro probably conducted it to bounce the way he wanted it to be. Well, that said, let me know what you guys think about that.

Very theater-like scenes. Probably the theater art influenced older films vastly?

    It's pronounced "plate-o" not "plot-o".
