    Love this look at lighting terms and what they practically mean in video/film. It's easy to search up a WikiHow or some article on the web, but seeing it in action, as the light physically moves is a really good learning tool. This is awesome.

  • @whiterthanyou1
    @whiterthanyou1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was just recently having trouble with this. I pretty much mastered 3 point lighting. But I was just wondering how I could get good lighting without soo many light sources. This helped me a lot. Perfect timing!

    Great content, gave me some ideas.
    I'd also like to know how to prevent banding and artifacting in dimmly light places. I never figured out how to prevent these in-camera. I know that those things have to do with codecs and compression, but I know how to correct those. Just having a pitch black background without artifacting would be a great thing.
    Also what about lighting paint (e.g black ) without having a specular of the light?

  • @digitalsoju
    @digitalsoju 7 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    Just curious, how is your background such a "pure" black? Like no grain at all. Was it much brighter prior and you made it look darker in post? Thanks

    How does everyone go about feeding a cast over the course of a three-week long shoot with a small budget? Also, if you're interested, I'm a sixteen-year-old filmmaker and have made two big projects on this channel so far: The Sniper (a short film) and Art Less (web series)! I would love any type of feedback on any of my work. I am also based in New England and would love to connect with other young filmmakers in the both tri-state areas.

    • @ChrisGeden
      @ChrisGeden 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Film Wire whatever you do, feed them well as it keeps up morale and shows that you care.

    • @shirosenshiesq
      @shirosenshiesq 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Cheapest way would be to go to a market daily and purchase bread, meats, cheeses, some salad options. Have some condiments on hand, and set up a make-your-own sandwich bar. Have clean, cold water on hand, and then buy a few cartons of soft drinks (or soda, as Americans call it), Gatorades if it's hot work, and some alternatives. Easier option would be paying a catering company to do the same, less drinks.
      But, don't skimp. Feed them well, feed them often.

    • @deangeloscott
      @deangeloscott 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree with what those two said, another option may be trying to partner with local companies. One may offer heavily discounted food in exchange for promotion (in the film, you make something specifically for them, etc.).
      But cheapest way is to have a good friend/family make stuff that can be made in large batches and is filling (rice, burgers, sandwiches, chips, mac n cheese, etc. Homemade cheap stuff).

    • @shirosenshiesq
      @shirosenshiesq 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As for feedback on your video - audio is a big issue. It's too varied, sounds pretty awful. Invest in some decent boom mics, or try and hide lav mics on people. If audio is too bad, redub.
      You also need to get your video stabilised. I couldn't watch the whole thing.
      You need better colour grading so your scenes match, as well as a more coherent script. I couldn't follow what was going on and gave up pretty quickly.

      @cookechristinaphotos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Film Wire : Farm Friends?! Drop subtle advertising for the people who fed you --> in my mind it's completely new branding. Start a mobile farm truck that also serves as your shelter while you're wherever you are rocking the world? Food not bombs with film? Something like that. Everyone bring ingredients that they could muster up and some genius goes to town cooking up killer meals on the spot? Nothing from experience obviously.... not yet
