@TheGreenWitch Annie since you moved into a suburban area how do you connect with nature? Are you able to get to a nice forest or nature path every once in a while?

I honestly like to touch the plants and trees and leaves. And just take a moment to observe them waving in the wind or visit them in the rain or any different season. Winter is such a different contrast to summer but each has a unique beauty when walking thru it during these times. I have come to live the country living and appreciate all the moments I can outdoors.

I have a magnolia on my property that is over 150 years old. I feel a strong connection to her. I almost lost her due to tornado, but she has slowly recovered. We sent her positive energy every day , we placed our hands on her where she was split and talked to her. And even though arborists told me she couldn't servive she did.

This is all amazing! To add on: I think it’s also super important to acknowledge and support the native folks who’ve cultivated a deep relationship with the land for hundreds of years. They have so much knowledge of their home that we can learn from, and in exchange supporting their communities can help all of us enjoy the abundance of nature :)

Reading the book Braiding Sweet Grass has taught me so much about indigenous wisdom of plants, people, land, and just life as a whole... It's a phenomenal must-read!! I love tending to my garden and practicing herbalism every day even if it's as simple as making a cup of tea with the herbs that I grew... It's a full circle caring for the land, as it always thanks you in return :)

I talk to the plants & animals around me all the time as if they were people. Even if they don't understand or answer back, it feels really good to open up to them. Especially as a shy introvert that's not good with people. I have a big tree in my front yard I named Carla, & I have a deep bond with her. Whenever I'm down, bored, overwhelmed, or just need to think I go outside beside her and talk to her & sometimes the wind blows & it feels like she's communicating. It always makes me feel better & connected with nature 💕

I live in the middle of the city, so the only available land I can interact with is a park. I usually go for a walk and pause to look at the bugs and admire the way flowers bloom. I'm also a scientist, so watching the growth process of the plants is fascinating. It also adds individualism to the species and that particular plant.

used to spend time outside, gardening, taking walks and gathering things, finding frogs in the nearby stream with my kids. the kids are grown, I'm now disabled and developed an allergy to the sun. We moved and I don't know my land anymore. I get out when I can, not often. I found blackberries on the property, and some other little things but I can't walk far. I set up bird feeders and bathes for the animals. It's the easiest way, and the one I can do on a regular basis. I hope that with the cooler weather this season, i will be able to spend more time investigating the yard. Having to cover up head to toe means I'm not going out when it's too hot.

I read a book title “the green witch “ by Arin Murphy-Hiscock there was a section about getting to know your surroundings one suggestion was something to the effect of make note of all the native plants in your space. What seasons effect those plants and how.
I made a point of it and wrote down the plants I knew, took pictures and identified the ones I didn’t, added it to my list and got to know the plants.
I say thank you to plants if I take from them . Talk to them how I would a friend. Name some. Always take a small ( less than 1/4) of a plant so it has a strong chance of recovery.
I pick bees up off the floor constantly, dead or alive, with a leaf or something natural as to not irritate them I move them to a patch of green to rest forever or to gather their strength. If I have water I leave a few drops with them and wish them well.
I collect rain water in jars/ pots in my garden to ensure strays and birds have a drink. The jars are for refilling the watering can too (Add a stick to each jar so anyone caught in their has a chance to escape safely.)
I collect wildflower seeds and spread them around the area I live in hedgerows and public spaces. Throw a couple extra in council gardens and flower pots.

Relatable video as I just came inside from gardening underneath the ancient red oak in my front yard and telling her about the plants going in and the supplemental benefits they would provide for all the animals and insects she supports. It began to gently rain as I finished which felt like a pat on the back for my work. Have only lived on this land for three months and am so looking forward to making offerings to this oak on Litha. ❤

There’s a vitex tree on the side of my house that someone tried to kill by sawing it down, but it came back to life!! I named it Spirit Tree. I water it, put colorful rocks in a circle around the base, and hung glass beads on the branches. I say hello/goodbye and always spend time there, talking, touching, and tending to the tree. ☀️🌳🌚✨

On talking to nature; I was just watching a video where they hooked up an electrode to a plant and allowed it to play tones, all on its own. When it was talked to or watered, it played such happy music. They know and are aware; science backs that up.

Love this! So often people don't think of their own backyards as nature, but I love observing how much life I can spot in just my small little urban patch. My favorite is watching the number of bees that flock to my oregano patch every summer, and creating finch parties by planting sunflowers.

I keep a camellia tree and an olive tree next to my bed on either side. I nourish them with grow lights and high quality fertilizer and plan on planting them years from now when they’re big enough. I feel a spiritual connection with these sacred plants, I can’t explain it.

For me it's going to a park with my dog Phineas, taking my shoes off, and parking my self under a ginkgo biloba tree. Sometimes I'll take my journal bag with me, maybe do a sketch or just jot an entry. I often make a point of collecting something to bring back because I'm sure it doesn't want to go to waste by not being used as it was intended. I live and breathe outdoors when not at work. 🌻🌼☘️🌿🌾

As often as i can, i like to walk through my local woodland and take in the beautiful scenery and scents of the wild flowers.
As crazy as it sounds, I've seen faces on some trees that look as though they're surprised to see a male witch passing by, and when I've returned to the same spot a few days later, no matter how hard i search, the faces have disappeared somehow lol
It's all good, great vid 🙂✌️

I used to feel the strongest connection to my hometown, and I called her Cara Mia. I felt her everywhere I went, said goodnight and good morning. Spent so much of my time with her because I could feel her warmth and love. Recently I went on a trip to the ocean, and felt a completely different presence. After that I could feel Cara Mia no longer back home, and I don’t know where she went. I will continue to try to feel her, but even if I cannot I will always take care and spend time with what she has left.

I often go to an wooded lake nearby. There is a kind of hidden plateau directly at the lake.
A giant oak is standing there. It has a sort of eye on it's side.
I always collect trash like cigarets on the way. To really connect to that place, I meditate.
And I try to find all kinds of life around that place. Like ducks, wild goose, crows and ravens and my favorite, the heron😍

I have always enjoyed the view of nature, especially from where you live. For a time in my not to distant past I have spent time in Vancouver, Whitehorse and Southern Alberta, the Waterton Lakes Area. People need to get out of the city and spend time and enjoy nature. We can learn much from nature. Nature does not destroy it creates life. All the best to you and your friends on the Salish Sea. There are tough times ahead.

My grapefruit tree is my best friend and little brother. He has been with me since childhood. I give him offerings of blessed magickal water and I meditate and merge with his energy, for grounding. I tell him my life stories and let him in on details to make sure he is in the loop.
I also give offerings to local spirits and the park and nature everywhere I go. It creates a good bond between me and the spirit world and nature here, and I tend to have more peaceful days because of it.
I like to grow my own herbs for witchcraft and put my intentions into the seeds before growing them. The harvest always is delicious and much more powerful than grocery store herbs.

Ive been looking around for milkweed for at least a year, and i finally bought some around mother’s day and have been really happy to watch it grow. Funnily enough, just a couple days ago, i found a milkeed plant growing wildly in my backyard that was already twice the size of my plants. It’s funny to think it might’ve been there the whole time

You forgot about grounding. Probably one of the most important things to do to feel connected. Also, it may not be the best idea to clean up (prune) the land, as the fallen plant life provides refuge and food for animals and insects. Also, seeds sleep over the winter in some upright plants and are dispersed in spring.

I live in a fairly metropolitan area of michigan without a ton of natural spaces to spend time in, so i usually stick to the few areas i have access to. this land that i live on was once cared for by the anishinabe native americans, of which there are very few of in my city. this will probably be controversial to some given that i’m not of anishinabe decent, but i’ve taken up the practice of offering sage to the beings of the woods when i first arrive before my walks. at one point, these trees and this river were cared for and looked after by a people that were pushed off of it. offering sacred herbs was a large part of their culture, and i believe that the beings here remember what that was like, to be offered something with so much respect and love. all i want is to show them that there are still people who care, people who love them. since i started this practice it feels like the woods have opened themselves so much to me, and the actual land seems happy when i arrive. I was fully prepared to stop if it didn’t seem beneficial, but since the first time i made this offering, something just feels so in alignment. i hope that any american immigrants reading this can look to the people who lived here before us and try, in their absence, to care for the land they were forced to leave.

I really love deepening relationship with specific spaces in nature. For example, there is a hawthorne tree that I have given honey to every Beltane for the past 5 years. I've had many ceremonies and meditations with a Grandmother Maple, and there is a creek that I've done many an energetic cleansing in. Having rituals and relationships that are cultivated over time is a really powerful way that helps me feel more intimately connected with the land. Not unsimilar to how I am with humans, I love going deep :)
On a separate note, I'm always surprised to see you sponsored with the perfume company. Perfumes like that contain so many harmful ingredients for the environment and for our bodies...it just doesn't feel aligned with the values I perceive you to have. It would make so much more sense to see you sponsored by an essential oil perfume brand or something! I'm curious if you'd be willing to speak to that at all? Have you considered the harmful effects of conventional perfume brands?

    • @beemel5734
      @beemel5734 ปีที่แล้ว

"...it just doesn't seem aligned with the values I perceive you to have."
Sounds like a you problem. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: youtube creators don't owe you anything. Let them make some friggin money off this thankless site/app, for goodness sakes.
Most of those indie brands, while *maybe* better for your body and the planet, are often not in a position to sponsor. Especially not a youtube creator in a niche community; that's not gonna get a lot of traffic. And sponsoring already has like a 50/50 chance of even attracting new customers, not looking at any data.
