Crap like that wouldn't enter the mind of a great Southern Gentleman like Levon He remained a lovable, gentle soul til the end, but it's just the beginning for Levon. He is getting his rewards in Heaven for all the joy he gave us on earth. No one was more loved than Mr Levon Helm
I hope people sit and listen not only to his voice but his soul. This man represented music's real spirit. A great man who will be sorely missed. RIP Levon..
The Band, one of my biggest musical heroes. When I clicked on this video, I expected it to be a weak version of the versions I knew, because that has happened too many times before... But it wasn't. Levon Helm remains one of my musical heroes. Such a legend. I love The Band.
@@mattloyd9309 Not a lot of people left that can create good music! As Chad Prather said "now they are mixing country with rap, you guessed right, it's crap"!!! Really going to miss Mr. Helm!!!
so much great energy here. also should say that larry campbell's guitar solo here is amazing and probably the best solo on any version of ophelia out there. th-cam.com/video/THFW2Qo_m0U/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgzdLykyzn8767XCoPJ4AaABAg
after all these years and health issues, his voice is still magnificent! Wow! The band, the horns...all works together so well, but it is the vocals that take center stage!
Woodstock, NY will always be truly blessed and honored that the tradition of incredible music and wonderfully rockin' times have lived on through the great Levon Helm, his family, and his friends.
Really miss Levon and his music. He had a way of delivery that just made you feel like you were in the presence of a friend that you had known your whole life. Every show was always casual and full of comfort. Just like Mama's cookin.
i agree down here beside Lookout Mountain in Alabama...everytime i get in a writer's slump, i just have to listen to a few of these songs and it's on, baby! it's on! SUCH INSPIRATION!
I discovered Mr Helm and the band late in my life just sorry i missed so much of the man himself in the early days. Still feel fortunate to have had his everlasting love for life...thank you Levon.
I had the Blessing of Seeing The Band once and 2 Midnight Rambles.. Ashes of Laughter, The Ghost is clear, why do THE BEST THINGS always Disappear......
What I wouldn't give to just give Levon a hug of thanks. Can you believe I came to The Band Party just in the last year? What great music. Such a beautiful soul. Oh. Love. Oh, sadness.
Why do the best things always disappear? Sad as I am to have witnessed his passing, this song, whatever version he does, makes me feel good, head to toe.
one of my heroes.....a great man...........missed every day.........and hardly a day goes by when I don't play his stuff...solo or with the boys in the Band....its all just wonderful.
Grew up as a young girl listening to Levon! I love his voice! I miss him. He was amazing and what a thousand kilowatt smile! RIP Levon..You are not forgotten!! Your music lives on!

So much could be said about Levon. I love how he just gets down to work right from the count in. One more note on this video - thanks, Billy Bob... for staying back stage.
Kids, and Big Kids.........for those of us who grew up in the 70's, we've lost Lennon, Garcia, and now Levon. As there were the Beatles, Dead, Stones, there was a great power called the "Band" and they rocked a place in music that will never be filled again. Levon was Stellar. A very good man has left us!
Who would've thought back in 1976 that one would be able to this great man do this song again??? I mean, Mr. Helm lost his abilty to even speak when he got throat cancer, but against all doctors orders: He sings again!!!! I don't know what happend, but God: Thank you!!!! You're a great guy after all:-)
I appreciate this band they all look like they are enjoying what they are doing, I think that was so important for Levon. His singing and drumming was amazing. It's sad that he wasn't recognized for his talents and skills. Although his town recognized him. I think the band was under a lot of pressure, the stress was just way to much as well we can see only 2 members left. Levon Helm was a great drummer and singer he put his all in.
Great voice throughout his whole life. Never met the guy but in every video you watch of the guy one can tell how much heart and soul Levon helm has. Bet he was a great guy, know he was a great musician!
This is the best version of this song ever!!!! The change in his voice was like it was supposed to happen for this song. The way he played the drums in this version is better than any other version he ever did!!! This was by far an EPIC moment captured on video. THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS!!!! RIP Levon
I don't know if it's his best rendition of this wonderful song? Over fifty years ? What ever rendition I hear! Levon takes me away from what ever shite that's going on ! The Last waltz? Before the flood? Rock of Ages? Just accept ! He/They were Special!
Awesome video/audio quality.....Thanks for posting. RIP Levon. Singin' & drummin' at the same time is a true talent. Join Danko & Manuel up there & get back to playin'.
It's been a wee while since I listened to this, having been a staple for a good few months until 3 or so back when my life changed once again. I've revisited tonight (I'm in the land where a wingnut [with a pervert brother] married to a horse had an abominable ceremony at the weekend during which they both gained shiny new hats) and am just as hooked as I was when I first listened/watched a couple of years ago. I lost my father to cancer nearly 2 years ago and Levon's spirit has always reminded me of that of my father, during and inbetween treatments etc - never one to wallow but rather to carry on getting out and doing what they loved. Priceless lessons - RIP to both. Xx
great video - I feel so bad that I never made it to Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble. RIP Levon Helm - you will be truly missed. I love all of your different bands and sounds. God bless you and your family. Godspeed
This man beat cancer twice and played with all his heart. You got to love this man's spirit.
A survivor and a rock and roll legend

Levon looked so happy playing here. That guy was awesome.
Looks like he's having so much fun doing what he loves. A Legend.
Also, he was a really good guy. What a combo!
Levon showed us the key to success as a musician; Love what you do. That smile beams up any room he steps foot in.

RIP Levon Helm you are greatly missed sir.
Drums onstage at the Ryman! Brass section?!?! People dancing in the aisles!
The horror! George Hay is rolling in his grave.
And I'm loving it.
I was at this show. I think tickets were $30. LOL. Priceless.
Woodstock, NY will always be truly blessed and honored that the tradition of incredible music and wonderfully rockin' times have lived on through the great Levon Helm, his family, and his friends.
Good Lord I miss him he still brings tears to my eyes He was the BAND
Really miss Levon and his music. He had a way of delivery that just made you feel like you were in the presence of a friend that you had known your whole life. Every show was always casual and full of comfort. Just like Mama's cookin.
Real musicians like Levon are truly going to be missed if people continue to listen to notes instead of listening to music...
I always say if people want to hear perfection go listen to the album. Live shows are “live”and the mistakes are all part of the show.
I had to great pleasure of being at that show. Thanks Levon for all the great music. R.I.P.
What a beautiful version of this song Mr. Leon hams God bless the Band
I saw Dylan with the band late 60’s early 70’s…didn’t know as much about them as I do now… shame I didn’t know what I was witnessing
Miss Levon greatly the twinkle in his eye when he plays is golden

What I wouldn't give to just give Levon a hug of thanks. Can you believe I came to The Band Party just in the last year? What great music. Such a beautiful soul. Oh. Love. Oh, sadness.

Sad as I am to have witnessed his passing, this song, whatever version he does, makes me feel good, head to toe.
And, yes, I'm still here, listening, years later. What a groove that man laid down.
Sitting here crying - but thankful I got to see this great musician several times in concert. Thank you for the music.
Made my day! Ole Levon rocking from the wild blue yonder. Amy killing it too. Oh my heart!

Levon had so much fun when He sings ……….Having fun………..Sing good for GOD ……….
I love how afterwards he gives a fist pump to the horns, just like over 30 years before in The Last Waltz
Missed that, thanks!!!! I’ll have to watch again.

That’s a man that doesn’t even need to count time. Feels it and sings along to it, he is the time
what a horn arrangement!
Love this performance.
Good arrangement for sure. Does Levon and the song proud.

Looking at Helm I keep thing of a old soldier & gunsmith near Athens Tennessee. "You know this for a fact Mr Rate?"
His voice is so great in this clip.. what an amazing recovery.. Long may he run
Wish I could "like" more than once!!
Levon Helm was a great musician as well as a good actor.
And a good man
Rest in peace, Levon. What a legend. Still rocking at 70 and beyond. Awesome. Thanks for the music.
All he had been through would've taken down a lesser man, but he fought through and still sounded great.
2 heros.....Fred Dibnah and Levon Helm. Quite diffent profesions! Both 'mint'.
Every time Levon sat at those drums with the Band, it makes my heart melt.. Will love him 4 ever, RIP

Sweet!
What a musician he was. A live show must have been really special.
Levon was special!
What a beat.....
Just born with it, like fallin' off a log.
An inspiration forever. Cancer schmancer. As if the music wasn't enough to be inspired by. Love you always. Thank you Levon.
He'll be missed greatly
Levon on a Slingerland trap set = AWESOMENESS! He did pretty good with Ludwigs as well, but I'm a fan of the kits from Niles, Illinois.
God Bless you Levon! You will always be a legend among legends! RIP!
one of my favs and just a fun song!
