    Your work doesn't only bring gaming nostalgia, but childhood and past memories along with it too. Well, at least for me is always this way. Listening to this old school inspired track, I was looking at the picture at the same time that I was reading "where did everyone go?" and it was like visiting memories from years ago, wondering where some friends and family from my past are these days and how they are doing since they aren't present in my life anymore. Your music will always bring such unique experiences for me. Thank you.

      I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel the urge to catch up with people from long time gone, for no specific reason. They would probably be surprised if I actually did. In many cases it's not even possible though, technically speaking. In other cases it just doesn't seem adequate on a second thought. Then I wonder why we all get in our own way like that.

    I've been listening to your new album (Selection 6) on Spotify while I write. Just wanted to stop by and thank you for making all this music. It is excellent writing fuel, and I've been writing horror since 2006. I've always listened to the RE and Silent Hill relaxing music, and I know I'll be listening to your stuff for the next 20 years. I will not stop writing. So nice that there's a small group of people out there in the world who love the ambient safe room music as much as I do. It's a world to escape into...

    • @SurvivalSpheres
      @SurvivalSpheres  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And another writer, that's awesome. Around 2006 I was still convinced being the only person on earth who was into this strange musical territory. What I did observe since is that it's a stable thing, attracting stable folks. Those who connected with RE1's Peace of Mind wouldn't let it go anymore. So I'm not surprised that you've been writing for decades and firmly believe you will continue for decades to come. Best wishes and see you around, inside the save room!

    I haven't been listening to enough music to keep up but I hope you're doing well. This is excellent as your work as always been. I mainly came here because this is the only way I know to tell you, if you haven't, you HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO play Signalis. Of all the throwback RE/SH games, there's no doubt in my mind it's the best one.

    • @SurvivalSpheres
      @SurvivalSpheres  ปีที่แล้ว

      Long time no see! But immediately clicked. Thanks for the recommendation, I actually haven't heard of Signalis and will definitely try it out. How is Road Fever coming along? Always good to see you.

    • @Gaff.
      @Gaff. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SurvivalSpheres Signalis is a phenomenal piece of art that combines combines core elements of a lot of my favourite games (and yours) to result in something that feels unique. It's also German.
      My one personal problem comes from the use of pseudo-DDR imagery in a way that is really cool but completely un-nuanced. I think it goes over most people's heads but if you're German (or know a lot of people from the DDR) it won't. But the game is basically apolitical, so it's easy to ignore for the most part.
      Eh...Road Fever...I wish I had good news but something in version control went wrong and we lost most of the code. We tried to recreate it but for some reason it didn't work. I started making a 2D Victorian cyberpunk game instead, but as usual with me, it was a little ambitious and I haven't done much with that besides some initial prototyping and a lot of music (although, the music is some of my best work, so I can't say I regret it).

    • @SurvivalSpheres
      @SurvivalSpheres  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gaff. Interesting backstory, also about the DDR assets. And sad to hear about Road Fever! I recall you were putting so much energy into details like footstep sounds or stucco ornaments/patters, I'm sure it would have turned out spendid! As regards that other game, any chance you released the music that you've created for that?

    • @Gaff.
      @Gaff. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SurvivalSpheres The story for Signalis reminds me a lot of Nier: Automata (incredible game, highly recommended) crossed with Silent Hill and as a backdrop. The DDR stuff was visually really great, so I can't totally disagree with them using it.
      Yeah, I modelled the entire main area, so it really is a shame. Hoping I can go back to it someday.
      No, I haven't released that music but I plan to release it as an album of sorts. Maybe it will even get some people interested in working on it, which I really need for something that size.
      But the whole Victorian cyberpunk world and look I've crafted is in my humble opinion quite impressive, and I'm starting to consider doing several games in that universe. No idea how many of them will come to fruition, but if I do a smaller one to start, well, it's a, you know, a start. And what's more, I could easily do a RE-style game like that, though this time it would be a smaller one. Did I mention most of the graphics come from old paintings I rework?

    • @SurvivalSpheres
      @SurvivalSpheres  ปีที่แล้ว

      About 90% is composed and performed by hardware (oldschool keyboard & synthesizer). Software is used for refinements and post production only. My approach is outdated and impractical, but I really need to be away from computers in order to get creative. Thanks for listening!

    • @nicklbmack
      @nicklbmack ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SurvivalSpheres I prefer making music that way as well- only wish hardware synths weren't quite so expensive... Can I ask what keyboard/synth you're using? Understand what makes your work so compelling is not just the gear but more to do with the emotion, just curious. Thanks!

    • @SurvivalSpheres
      @SurvivalSpheres  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicklbmack I never used expensive gear and I firmly believe that a good hardware that you can use for 10 years + could be less costly than an up-to-date music production environment with a PC in the center, high end soundcard, DAW, VST plugins, monitoring speakers, at least two big screens,... I don't use any of that. Just my hardware and some middle class headphones really. Main platform is the Yamaha MoxF6 and I fear the day when it stops working, because I don't know if there can ever be a replacement. Models that offer a real time sequencer and step recording are becoming a dying breed :-/

    i've been noticing more & more people doing "alternate silent hill soundtrack" tracks, & now resident evil too.. i find it an interesting concept in itself. a lot of times, i think they do a better job than the actual "franchise" just trying to keep it alive to make money, that has lost all of it's original japaense team, & taken over by some lame american bros. (just see silent hill - shattered memories or resident evil - 5 & 6 for that..)
    i think this does a good job at capturing the bleakness only resident evil can convey, with it's still images of abandoned places people once loved, inhabited & thrived, to a couple poetic sentences of lost hope.
    that was only really in resident 1, 2, & 3, the resident evil remake for gamecube & 0... 5 & 6 were like (terribly done) action movies you just press "x" to forward. & code veronica was so campy, i basically just consider that one a "comedy," lol.
