Hi Anthony, good video. I do things a little different especially with my tomatoes. I don't dig in the amendments but layer them on top of the soil give them a good soak with water and cover with sugar cane mulch. Then I leave the bed a week to settle before planting. At planting time, I also companion plant with basil and marigolds to attract beneficial insects and the smell also deters the bad bugs. I also use yellow sticky traps tied to every third stake as an indicator as the when the fruit fly is about. I also bag the fruit with fruit bags when they are developing. This year I have had tremendous success and I used it for one of my TAFE assignments on Queensland Fruit Fly which I'm going to submit in a couple of weeks. However, I definitely agree planting tomatoes is a great time of the year. Cheers.

Hey mate I would be really keen to see your assignment always looking for ways to control fruit fly. I just try to plant early to get around the problem

@@sydneybackyardveggies9612 I would be happy to send it to you once its finished. I still got about 3-4 more weeks of monitoring to record before I complete it. If you send me your email I'll send you a PDF when I get it back from TAFE. Probably about early February. 👍👍

Loved this video info! I do sow seed to ground and not seedlings! Most info and watching has helped learn to do from seedling in future as I get experience and space

I’m impressed you can grow tomatoes direct seedling! At this stage the soil is still a bit cool to have the seeds germinate so raising tomato seedlings is ideal. Thanks for watching!

How old is your seedlings (days)

These seedlings from germination were 3 weeks old. It took about 7 days to germinate. I started them in mid July and were planted out in mid August. If you are trying to grow them now they will grow faster with the warmer weather
