Well I’ve to say thank you as I forgot about that pipe on the fuel pump in engine bay and being having trouble trying to get my xc90 to start after doing engine swop as had air in fuel system but now she’s running thanks to your video.thanks

One thing I've noticed is when reassembling the engine, there is a metal fuel pipe that sits under the HP fuel pump which alot of people forget to attach and tighten up properly which is a leading cause of a no start.
Also if head work as been done, incorrect timing can cause a no start issue. When you insert the crank locking pin, the crank has to be rotated ANTI-CLOCKWISE until it hits the stop.

MATE!!!! You are an absolute legend!!! Thank you so much for uploading this. I did the exact same work as you and have not been able to start the engine. This makes so much sense. Will try tomorrow.

After a diesel filter change, I found that cycling the ignition a few times would bleed the air out of the fuel system. I need to change the copper sealing washers for the fuel injectors on my own XC90 so it is good to know that I can do the same thing to bleed the air out. I found a set of 10 genuine Bosch sealing washers on eBay for £22.50

Great advice. Our swirl valves and intake ports were gnarly. Garage wanted a king’s ransom to do the job so we bought a couple of specialist tools for much, much less and did it ourselves. 🙂

Just cleaned injectors and swri flaps on my XC90 ..WON'T start done exactly as you explained 👌 worked a treat only thing I added is a quick blast of easy start in to the inlet manifold ...

same sort of way when you change the fuel filter just put the ignition on and off and on until the pump either only comes on for a short time or not at all then once youve done it the car should start. same for when you take off the pipes to get the intake off you can do this method as well.
all this bollocks about cracking the nuts and making sure fuel is coming out isnt necessary.

Yeah basically this fuel system is fully self bleeding.

Hi, thanks for the video! I still have a question, if there is diesel coming out of the lines to the injector, would I still have to prime the low pressure side? Priming the low pressure side, does that man, to take off the house and let the diesel come out in a good amount? I would very much appreciate your answer. by the way, I took off the lines and injectors because I had to replace the valve cover gasket.

Hi, got question about the black pipe running right across the gasket cover, you mention everything else there, but skip that pipe. The shop I took my car to conveniently forgot to reattach that after almost burning my car down doing DPF burn. Car runs fine now after they "fixed" everything supposedly, but what is that hose supposed to do. it seems to exhaust some air but not high pressure? looking for a diagram for the engine to see what it is, but cant seem to find anything.

Can I use that same low pressure feed to bleed the 27 ltrs of petrol I just put in my XC60 diesel? I haven`t turned it over so it`s just in the tank.

My problem was a weak low pressure in tank pump that wouldn't provide sufficient supply to feed the high pressure pump and therefore not start.

Do you crank after loosening the bolts HP lines, then once it starts you tighten them back up? Or do you crank, then loosing and tighten, then crank again, loosen tighten?

filter is easy just turn on ignition wait for the tank pump to go off then repeat the process until the pump either comes on for a short time or not at all then the car will just fire right up

Excellent advice, I did it your way and it worked great. You have exactly the same engine. I wondered if it has a TURBO BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR that I also want to clean as they are also quite bunged up. If there is one can you tell me where it is? Thanks.

    • @svenladegast2518
      @svenladegast2518 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The turbo boost pressure sensor is either located at the intake manifold or at the intercooler, driver's side (left hand drive) depending on the exact engine model.

to get the rocker cover off, did you have to take out injectors?

    Bonjour,
    Merci beaucoup.
    Rémi

    Hello,
Your video is super useful, I just replaced the hydraulic valve lifters on my V70 2.4D 163hp and I have not been able to start it since.
Unfortunately I am from Brittany and I do not speak English well enough to understand everything you are explaining.
Can you please write your method so that I can then translate it with google translate?
    Thank you so much.
    Remi
