Allosaurus was a large bipedal predator. Its skull was large and equipped with dozens of sharp, serrated teeth. It averaged 9.5 metres (31 ft) in length, though fragmentary remains suggest it could have reached over 12 m (39 ft). Relative to the large and powerful hindlimbs, its three-fingered forelimbs were small, and the body was balanced by a long and heavily muscled tail. It is classified as an allosaurid, a type of carnosaurian theropod dinosaur. The genus has a complicated taxonomy, and includes an uncertain number of valid species, the best known of which is A. fragilis. The bulk of Allosaurus remains have come from North America's Morrison Formation, with material also known from Portugal and possibly Tanzania. It was known for over half of the 20th century as Antrodemus, but a study of the copious remains from the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry brought the name "Allosaurus" back to prominence and established it as one of the best-known dinosaurs.
Ceratosaurus was a carnivorous theropod dinosaur in the Late Jurassic period (Kimmeridgian to Tithonian). This genus was first described in 1884 by American paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh based on a nearly complete skeleton discovered in Garden Park, Colorado, in rocks belonging to the Morrison Formation. The type species is Ceratosaurus nasicornis.

Mega Top Tens my opinion, i guess _Triceratops_ . Remember when you see a carnivore and a herbivore living at the same time, that means the herbivore was more than capable of defending itself or had enough energy to get away from a predator. Because nature just doesn't put a herbivore in an environment with a carnivore that can kill it easily without any challenge at all because the herbivore won't live that long with a carnivore so deadly. That's like putting a Deer on an island full of Kaijus.
Also, the great sense of smell, great eyesight and great hearing are only good for finding prey. It doesn't help the carnivore with fights. And i think that frill is the trump card of the _Triceratops_ since that frill can be used as armor of the neck where _T. rex_ usually bites and _Triceratops_ can also use its frill for ramming. Ramming with a frill like that can do some damage.
But don't take it as a one-sided fight. If _T. rex_ was able to get close enough and bite _Triceratops_ on the neck, _Triceratops_ is going down. If _Triceratops_ can stab _T. rex_ anywhere in the body, (EDIT: not including the tail) the _T. rex_ will die from getting its organs stabbed or just retreat and if the legs where stabbed, the stab in the leg will cripple the _T. rex_ but won't kill it.
      So my opinion,
90% in favor of _Triceratops_ .
But the _Triceratops_ wouldn't kill the predator that often. Predators know how to hunt safely, even with dangerous prey like the _Triceratops_ . Once the _Triceratops_ spots the ^
_T. rex_ and it's facing the predator, the _T. rex_ will just retreat -like a pussy- . And predators don't usually take that big of a risk. They would likely hunt the young and sick _Triceratops'_ .
So the _Triceratops_ would win more likely but not necessarily kill the enemy.
If you don't believe me, here's a bunch of ACTUAL PALEONTOLOGISTS that stated that _Triceratops_ would WIN against a _T. rex_ . These are the real nails in the coffin that proves that _Triceratops_ wins.

As much as I love the T-Rex (it being my favorite dinosaur and all), I honestly feel that the chances that he has given it in terms of winning feel a bit too high. T-Rex was a powerhouse of a dinosaur, but even the mightiest predators have their weaknesses. To me, the chances of this fight would be 50-50. Either one of them could bring the killing blow. If Triceratops impales the T-Rex in the belly with the horns, it's game over for the Rex. But if the T-Rex dodges the horns and manages to bite down on its opponent's neck, the odds would be in its favor.

Look, triceratops weighs just as much as a t-rex but its bone structure is just different. It's back legs are straight like a rhinos and front legs go foward like a lizards. Its weight goes foward putting all that kinetic energy forward. Its head could rotate at almost a 360 degree angle due to a ball joint in its neck. Also their plate on their head ut 6 times thicker than a human skull. And their horns are made of bone that comes from their skull. Unlike rhino horns that are made if hair and elephant tusks made of ivery.T-rexes mostly only used surprise attacks on triceretops. The is no match. I got this from a channel called "Discovery UK"

I really don’t know why people automatically favor the carnivores over the herbivores. There have been tons of specimens of Triceratops killing T- Rex ( And vice versa)! These carnivores had an extremely difficult time getting prey because they caught back, and they were just as deadly as the carnivores were.

I do not really agree with the outcome of this, the trike had the better chance of winning. The trike was one of, if not the most dangerous Cretacious herbivores. The metre long horns, neck frill (which many scientists believe was VERY good for defence) and its size put it a great advantage. In terms of a 1 on 1 battle, without a rex using an ambush, the trike was able to keep a rex in front of it at all times, because a triceratops' head was connected to its neck by a ball point joint. This basically allowed triceratops to swing its head in any direction at high speeds. As seen in many modern day animals, herbivores have evolved to counter the apex predators in their natural ecosystem, for example a cheetah and a gazelle, yes the cheetah is the fastest living land animal, but the gazelle is far more agile, able to quickly change course at full speed to escape said cheetah, and so the same logic works in this situation, a triceratops evolved to combat the most dangerous predator it came into contact with. If herbivores did not evolve this way, then they would be easy pickings for any carnivore nearby. Of course none of this is set in stone, but this is just what I think would happen.

  • @Tarbtano
    @Tarbtano 6 ปีที่แล้ว +87

Head to head fight of two adults in their prime? Probably Triceratops on account of sturdier frame, faster turning radius, and less vulnerability from dense body and body armor. Most predator vs. plant eater fights where the latter can fight back and is of similar size or larger than the predator, the prey wins. I compare it to this. A lion can hunt down and kill a buffalo in the forest of tall grass by using it to ambush the bovine, get behind the horns and go for the neck. But if you put a buffalo and lion in a big open plain where they can both see each other, the bovine will trample, crush, and gore the cat to death.

dunno about that anology, there are plenty of yt clips showing lions 1v1 buffalos (2 male kill 2 in one hunt each for example). or a tiger killing gaurs. in this case both animals are closer size-wise but still I wouldn't favor any of them.

ʎɐƃ ǝɹ,noʎ 'sᴉɥʇ pɐǝɹ noʎ ɟᴉ Those were the ideas explained by Paleontologists before a rotational inertia study was done on Theropods. The study included Tyrannosaurs, Carnosaurs, etc. The study suggested that Tyrannosaurs, Tyrannosaurus rex included, had the agility and maneuverability of an animal of half their size. So, a Tyrannosaurus with the raw power of a 9 ton predator, and a bite force of 6 tons had the maneuverability of something of 4.5 tons. This would come in handy when facing an opponent like Triceratops, especially since Tyrannosaurus was an ambush predator, which likely means that it could be quick in short bursts. This makes Tyrannosaurus vs Triceratops much more even since Tyrannosaurus now had a great way of evading the horns, and maneuvering enough to snap the neck of its opponent. This is why a head-on battle between Tyrannosaurus vs Triceratops is closer to 50/50. If Tyrannosaurus had the ambush, Tyrannosaurus would most definitely win more times than not via the element of surprise. Study: peerj.com/articles/6432/

If it is 1 healthy triceratops vs 1 healthy t-rex, it is triceratops who has the advantage. Predators are extreme unlikely to take the risk and attack healthy prey which is capaple to fight back unless they are desperate. Triceratops was build to kill t-rex as much than t-rex was build to kill triceratops. But it is lot more easy to push those horns in the large belly than bite armour covered neck. T-rex would have extinct much sooner if it would have risked its life almost every time it hunted. And healthy triceratops would not loose "70%" of the time. If t-rex hunted as pairs it would be different story.

Wanna hear some science? Lets take a look at the Rex's list of prey items... ANYTHING A SMALLER ANIMAL CAUGHT THAT IT COULD STEAL. There's be no reason for it to ever try and gamble with taking on a Trike. That would be it's last option if it was starving, and you underestimate how bulky and powerful a Trike was, it's neck couldn't be broken by a Rex even if it did get the bite on it, the hide would absorb most of the force anyway. Also the fact that the Rex was bipedal is a huge disadvantage due to the ease a Trike would have when shaking the Rex off if it got a bite on it. That's a little science and physics for you, enjoy.

There is evidence showing healed injuries on triceratops from a t-rex, so saying that the Rex wouldn't hunt it is strange. The T-rex would most likely not get to be so large if it never hunted on its own either. Just look at lions and tigers today, they could steal food from basically any other predator in their region and still they hunt their own prey as well. Some even think that T-rex hunted in packs, which would make some sense. The only thing that speaks in your favor is the fact that T-rex was bipedal, however, so are we and if we set our feet in the right manner we are rather difficult to topple from the corresponding direction. If the Rex latched on it probably wouldn't be likely to fall face first or get pushed back onto its ass. Thus the most logical thing would be for it to be pushed to the sides, which it could guard against with the proper foot placements. As for the whole "the skin would take the brunt of the force" I will bring up how Siberian tigers break/crush the spine of warthogs/wild pigs even though they have a much weaker bite compared to T-rex. Sure, the hog is also smaller than the triceratops but we are after all speaking with the relationship between predator and prey in mind. Thus, the argument should still have merit.
Not saying that the T-Rex wouldn't steal food any chance it got, just stating reasons that support the fact it hunted as well.

A t-rex would win because tricerotops may have not existed
But if it did well if the t-rex is female it might have a decent chance, but if the tricerotops is alpha than it depends on how the t-rex attacks and where. If it is a sneak attack from the back than it might get a good blow to the tricerotops, but the ratio would then probably be 60/40 in the t-rex's favor at most, but it depends where it bites, and if the attack succeeds. Because female t-rexs are stronger than there males and females are larger, stronger, and are better at hunting, but that's just a theory, A DINO THEORY! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

@@essammoussa46 i'll agree to that, T-rex was bigger and smarter, but that's the reason why it wouldn't attack trikes. t-rex was bigger but not big enough to survive a fully charged trike burst. It also couldn't outrun it ( if you type , "how fast can a triceratops run" , into google search you will be able to see that Triceratops's max speed was 32km/h while t-rex's speed was 27km/h) . T-rex was also less agile since it needed 4 seconds to turn just for 90 degrees. And for the end Triceratops lived in herds while T-rex hunted alone. So ,no, YOU have to stop being dumb and stop saying stuff without any argument or knowledge that proofs it.

I'm a T-rex fan but for me, 70% chance win rate for T-rex against Triceratops just don't make sense. It would be actually 60-70% win rate for Triceratops (considering both are adults and in their prime condition). Even with the jaws, sight and brains of an adult T-rex is not enough to guarantee a victory against adult Triceratops. Adult Triceratops is just too armored for adult T-rex to hunt so they rarely attack them instead they go for the juveniles and old, sick ones. Adult T-rex would most likely go for an adult Triceratops if it is desperate for food or if the T-rex was in pairs.

Besides ,was not Triceratops a group animal. He likely would not be alone . If a herd of Triceratops came across a group of T-Rex ,I think they might want to kill them in open battle to keep from being ambushed.

T-rex Fanboy no Favoring any of the other Dinosaurs....... Triceratops lived in herds.... and T-rex would get wrekt by an Alpha Bull Triceratops, which would more than likely go one on one with a Rex when Protecting his Herd.... and just one swipe from a Horn or Three would be enough to Topple the Rex, while the Rex needs to think of a tactic to evade Triceratops' Horns, Frill Swipes... and Charge(which that Rex would've been Impaled...) so my Percentage would be 55% Trike and 45% Rex and mind you, just think about a Spino, Giga, Carchar, Trike, or even a Pack of Utahraptors...are enough to take a Rex down... so Sorry Mega Top Tens, your Favorite Dino isn't invincible nor omnipotent... it would lose, every now and then... because a Rex is just like every living, breathing creature that has ever lived, it comes then goes... so all your Battle Vids, I DISAGREE with Rex winning, of 70-80% chance all the time.and No,not just because I am a Spino Fanboy... I love all the Dinosaurs...but people in this world just put Rex all above the others..which makes the community a Warzone when it comes to Battle Vids, especially when Rex is in the Topic.

Err no. T.rex was smarter than what you claim. All predators have some strategy to hunt so they won't get themselves hurt or killed trying if possible. Facts say that T. rex did have strategies against Triceratops. Triceratops was not that smarter if at all by comparison, hence it had its defenses to do the work. While even still predators learn. T. rex speculated to hunt in packs. Thus 2v1 gave it the advantage. You don't know what you're talking about if you claim bias.

Finally this is why I watch this guys channel he’s smart enough to know that a T. rex would win.First off one car crushing bite would end it.Second a T. rex isn’t stupid it’s not just going to run into triceratops horns.Third a T. rex is bigger, heavier and stronger.Fourth even if the triceratops was the first to attack, the T. rex would just move out of the way of the horns.Fifth after the T. rex dodged the attack it would’ve broken triceratops neck.Sixth if the T. rex got it’s teeth in triceratops leg then it could’ve pushed it over and killed it.Seventh if T. rex’s bite could crush a car it could probably crush triceratops frill.Eighth study shows that if a triceratops charge hit a T. rex with a charge than it’s skull would’ve broken which means it couldn’t charge.Nineth T. rex could out maneuver triceratops.Triceratobs only advantage was that it might be hard to push over. Finally because T. rex is much taller than triceratops it could’ve avoided the horns without even having to out maneuver it and then using it’s height it could’ve gotten a light grip (which for a T. rex is 3 tones) turned and adjusted it’s grip killing triceratops. This is how I imagine it killing a triceratops. Also there’s evidence that triceratops was part of T. rex’s diet.
