Small little bit of Trivia for you: When the group is back home and they discover the refugees that knocked on the door? The two little kids that see Keyleth as she asks "Where are your parents?" (roughly at about 9:50). Those are Sam Regel's kids.
As are pretty much every child in the series (except one particular important child introduced in episode 8). Nepotism is alive and well in the Riegel household 😂

Hearing about the destruction of Emon was one thing, but as wonderful as Matt's descriptions are, SEEING Raishan strafe entire neighbourhoods with clouds of poison, and Thordak turn the Cloudtop District into a heap of molten slag, was... something else.

You said you knew Gilmore survived the wreckage because he did in the campaign but between the captain and the show they did change quite a few things so you may know the overall outline of events but you have no idea what's changed at any given moment.
