Im half pilipino and I just started learning the bandurria. I played the beginning segment of this song for my lolo and he was so happy he sang the rest for me and told me it reminded him of his childhood. Thanks so much for the post. RIght now im working on the whole thing.
We call it 'Banduria' in the Philippines - probably originated from Spanish merchants who traded with local Filipino hunters during the 1500s when Philippines was under the Spanish rule. There are variants like the Mexican bandolino or the Portugese' banjo, but banduria is well-known to the Cebuanos, Kapampangans and Tagalogs where they used to play it during fiesta and special occasions.
hehehe....I LOve it....I Used To teach thiS to my schoolmates when The NEW managing Director Of the DoLe PhillipINes from ThailAnd ( I guess So) asked as to perform all traditional Things about our culture (filipinos) so that he can learn...hehe (sharinG!) very cool cover Of YOurS!!
I'm doing the notes and arrangement and I'll post it here as soon as I'm finish with it. Thanks all for the comments - Mabuhay ang Musikang Pilipino!!!

pare ok ka ah, kulang nalang sa yo shades at barong tapos pwede na tayo punta sa greenhills hehehe. pre come august gig tayo pinaplano na namin ni rommel I might have some singers from southampton. favor can you help me scout some practice studios dito sa atin and how much k see ya mate
But to inform you the protocol of the songs might be Spanish music but it's proudly Pinoy, you know why were proud of it...Because it's the only few we could make...we could do even better...but it seems only a few have interest so the few will only make few even if they will put there efforts together, yes they can have a much larger output if they will work together but still they can only do so much...
Thank you for sharing your music and culture with the world - this is what youtube is all about.

Hello po, may notes po ba kayo? Please po, project po kase namin.
Nicely done. I could hear the other rondalla parts in my head as you play your banduria.

There is no such thing as BUHAY SA BUKID folk song. Many groups use the STRUNG Visayan melodies for their Buhay sa Bukid dances.
I just wanted to know what's being said...sorry
Oops! Ignore what I just said. I tried to copy and paste it so I could ask my pilipina girlfriend to translate it for me.

Accident
It's octavina.
Prom bandurria!!!!!! Octavina is bigger neck and bigger body. Its like a guitar!!!!
