My 2002 TJ X has been a great vehicle. Picked it up in 2005 so I have been driving it for 19 years. Lots of mods completed, lots more to go. My daily is my work vehicle, but my Jeep has been my personal vehicle for all of those years.
So I “daily” drive my TJ… I say daily, but really I drive it to the airport, where it sits for days and then drive it home again. I’ve owned my 2006 TJ Sport since it was new and it only has about 115,000 km, (around 71,400 miles) on it… I’m up here in Canada, and because they dump so much salt on the roads, it’s a real challenge to keep everything rust free, but for the most part it’s still pretty clean. I agree with you…Every time I get in it I enjoy it just as much as I did when I first bought it. It’s not a rough ride, it’s a Jeep and it drives like a Jeep… That’s why I bought it, that’s why I love it and if you’re not into Jeeps, you wouldn’t understand. My previous Jeep was a 1986 CJ-7 Renegade… that one was a daily driver. We lived in the Caribbean (Turks and Caicos), for a while and I actually had it shipped down there by boat, to drive while I was down there… I loved it even more than my TJ. I had it for 11 years before it was stolen and I never saw it again… That was a sad day!
I drive jeeps for over 35 years and I never had one fail on me. As long as you maintain them, good oil, zinc additive for the 4.0's and 4.2's and it will take care of you. I drive my TJ 4.0 sport for over 5 years now, it has 202K kilometers on it and I daily drive this Jeep. Never ever did it miss a beat. I often hear about Jeeps being unreliable, well . . . . this has nothing to do with Jeep and everything to do with the owner or previous owner. I hav a 3" OME lift, 33" tires and the infamous D35 in the rear but I never had problems with it. I drive it on the highway, forrest roads etc. It holds up fine. Just your basic off road stuff. I service my rig every 7.500~10.000 kilometers and that's the key to success I think.
My friend I know how you feel I just bought a 98 jeep wrangler with 60 k original miles from the original owner . I am still smiling my first jeep happy as hell ☺️.
I got 2005 jeep wrangler X 4.0 inline 6 (6-speed manual) I bought it in 2016 with about 70,000 now in 2024 it’s my daily I have 94,389 almost to 100k. I love it. I take it out Tierra Del Sol when the events happen. I love it. I don’t regret buying it.

Got to agree. I’ve been daily driving my 2002 4L 5 spd since I bought it new. I always say it’s loud and rough riding and cold in the winter and hot in the summer but it’s fun!

I wouldn’t have hesitated to get in it and drive 1,000mi. to somewhere in it anytime. It was that reliable. Nothing wrong with the JK but man, when you have a good one, hang onto it.
Yeah I’m planning on keeping mine forever. I just need to fix some transmission issues but other than that it has been reliable. I think I’m done off-roading in it so I’ll just be my daily.
I put over 212K on my 99 daily driver. Wife put 206K on her 1997 daily driver. Both very reliable. Wife sold hers and bought a 2004 Grand Cherokee with almost no miles. I sold mine for a 2003 Rubicon with only 12K miles. But the TJs were tanks

I’ve been driving a Viper for the last couple years, but I sold it this fall so I could buy and build up another TJ, and I don’t regret it at all. I’ve had a few over the years, and I always come back. Yours looks great, man. I just recently got my 35s installed and I love em too. It’s a little more to handle, but not bad at all. Have you had to do any brake upgrades with the 35s?
Thanks for the comment! I haven’t done any brake upgrades yet but I definitely need bigger brakes. I’ll probably upgrade them very soon. I’m probably going to keep my TJ forever and also buy a 4 door JL in the near future. Like I said thanks for the comment and have a great day.
Tre, I have not done the big brake kit either, but I did follow recommendations of many on the Jeep forums, and I bought some Black Magic front brake pads and Centric rotors. Wow, the difference is real. After the break in period, my Jeep is stopping better than it was on 33s when it had fresh normal pads. Black Magic brakes are no joke, and for about $260 it’s more than worth the upgrade! Check them out 💪
