I found Henry on TH-cam and was fortunate to get a prototype unit to test out. It has been flawless for 20k+ miles and still going strong. It is a game changer. The 400 rpm drop in 5th gear is exactly what the GL1800 needed. That and Traxxion Dynamics suspension!
Next to the Traxxion Mega Monty suspension upgrade, the Henry final drive is the best thing I’ve done to my GL1800. No more “hunting” for 6th gear. Thanks Max for offering this amazing product for our 2001-2017 Goldwings.
Making a final drive is no small undertaking. It must have cost a fortune to develop. It's only $1500, and the stock one is $2300 which is mass produced!
My wife and I installed a Henry unit in our 2016 GW in Aug 2020 in our garage. 17% reduction in engine speed dramatically improves torque, making 1st and 2nd gears more useful and 5th gear is now a cruising gear, eliminating the need for a 6th gear. We used the recommended Dakota SIM-1A-GL speed recalibration unit to match speedometer to GPS speed. We love it and have had no problems with installation or performance over 4 years. Best improvement I’ve made on any of the 36 motorcycles I’ve had over 60+ years of riding. For two-up riding, we prefer the 2016 GW to both our 2018 GWTs, although we have logged 51,000 miles on east and west coasts, Baja and Canada on the 2018s.
No Max. I’ve been satisfied with the GW such as it is. I understand your suspension packages are far superior but it’s late in life for me so I’m just maintaining what I have. I enjoy your channel and the products I purchased from you for my bikes. You provide tremendous service.
@@mustbetrue1602 Yes, I believe that is not an accurate statement... and on an technical level, the torque doesn't change at all. The engine makes the torque, and it is what it is.
Max - I shouldn’t have referred to torque. I’m not an engineer. The 17% reduction in engine speed makes the 5 speed transmission much more usable and provides a more comfortable riding experience for the type of riding my wife and I do. True enough you can’t take it with you!
It's a Goldwing, take it for a long ride! Regardless, we have several highly qualified dealers around the US, one is bound to be in riding range for you!
Max. I so happy to see you have added the Henry to your own super high quality items. I have been your customer for quite a few years. As for the Henry. I have been running one on my 2016 for a couple years+ now. The performance increase is amazing. The engine torque is amazing and more accessible with the Henry. The best trial for me was last year when we made a 7000+ mile ride to Alaska. And the bike was well loaded with gear. Passing trucks and slow vehicles is unchanged at standard highway speeds. However it's quite the thrill being able to shift down to even 3rd gear when aggressive passing is necessary!! Yaa Hoo! Presently i have installed 3 units. Two of them on friends Gen 5's. You did not mention the improved steel fill plug Henry has, other than the magnet. This plug will be hard for even the most ham handed home mechanic to strip the head off. Oh... also. As for the cost of the Henry..... many of us have paid nearly the same $$ for a custom saddle-seat. So i myself don't see cost as a big issue.
I’ve been running the Henry’s for years now. I like it, at 3000 rpm in 5th, I m at 83 mph. I can get thru an intersection without having to shift, overall smoother bike. Used Speedo healer plug and play to adjust Speedo, it’s more accurate than before. Good product.

Max my name is Danny White and I watch your channel all the time, I'm just curious will that new Henry's Final Drive gear box for the rear tire will that fit on a standard Honda Goldwing GL1800 touring or does it work on a the DCT Goldwing.
There would never be one. Due to the plethora of riding environments and styles, it would be impossible to put a number to it. If your focus on riding a motorcycle is to save fuel, then you are going to notice a much larger gain than someone who doesn't care.

The only problem with installing the Henry's Final Drive is the boat anchor I now have with the old final drive. I can't find a buyer--even on eBay!
There's a million of them from Trike Conversions. You can just throw it out. We fill a dumpster with brand new Goldwing shocks every year.

This is only for 2001-2017 bikes. It does not fit the 2018+.
