When I saw the video originally on it's own merits, all I thought was "wow...they actually did what people wanted or expected?"
In its own right, that is defying expectation when it comes to Nintendo I suppose.
It looks weird seeing this now. I’m just thinking, “dude, it’s just the switch,” and then I’m like, oh yeah, this is the reveal.
Well, at the time it was pretty damn surreal, seeing it could be both a hand-held and a console. At least, for me.

I remember when it revealed I was blown away and immediately loved the idea with the Joy-Cons. Now I just use my Pro controller because I fear that my new pair of joycons will wear out quickly like my old pair did

Quick observation about the reveal: there was not a single kid in the entire reveal. No smiling families. All adult friends. While it's true that kids wouldn't fit into the transportation aspect, they easily could've had some smiling family playing in the park, or the family and grandma playing on the porch. But no, all adults. Nintendo may finally be respecting the maturity of their audience.

Hey, I'm a kid! I don't understand why a lot of kids are all about, "MOMY, I WAT CAL OF DOTY FIFD EIT FUR TODY, NOT MY BIRTHDEY OR CHRISMAS!" I love Nintendo, and I live for it. And I am also a huge Nerd for it.
I'm trying *really* hard to not make a Splatoon joke.
So why is childish games still here, Splatoon was for kids and it wasn't fun for anyone but manchildren. Hate me all you want, I lost interest in Nintendo after being disappointed by them so much times. Also, why do people like Marie?
The take away I get from this reveal is that everyone who plays nintendo is super cool, hip and attractive.

Looking back, this is by far the best console reveal ever. It was quick, short, to-the-point, not confusing and shows a more mature audience. Nintendo knew _exactly_ what they was doing with this trailer and shows that they learned from every single mistake from the Wii U reveal.
It's genius marketing really and I hope they does something similar with their next console reveal.

I'm german and I couldn't have watched the video, if I hadn't ProxFlow. It's an add on for Firefox and Chrome and it can unlock blocked TH-cam Videos, but not any Video. Most certainly videos, that are blocked just in some countries.

its from a current game. most of the games shown here are current titles. there just showing that they can run on the NS. witch is sill because most of these games can run on a WiiU. I would like to see what makes this title different from the WiiU.

I'm 99% sure it's not 3D world. Unfortunately it looks like 3D World 2 though.
PurpleTrident Seems to be on a track, similar to how the stages were in 3D World instead of the more open environments I was hoping for. The city area at the beginning looks like it may be open though.
Nowadays I’m so used to how the Switch works that I don’t even think about it, but this reminds me of how amazing the idea was. It’s neat to come back to these videos to reexperience that wonder vicariously.

The switch is so great because it is such a great comeback from the previous console. It is also a console that brings so many ports, and new games, which makes it a console of homages. Think of the entire console as a celebration or acknowledgement if you will of Nintendo as a whole

Just rewatched this and it's kind of amazing how well Nintendo managed to communicate everything you need to know about the Switch into a 3 minute video. The seamless transition between console and portable modes, the detachable joycons, the social marketing. Hell, even "Here are a bunch of Wii U games again because nobody bought them before!" It's all there! 😂

Sometimes, I like to come back to these older videos on the channel like this one to see how much has changed. Like, how cautiously hopeful that the Switch will do good. Looking back now, knowing we’ve got and are getting Luigi’s Mansion 3, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Odyssey, Smash Ultimate, Mario Maker 2, Animal Crossing New Horizons, & BOTW, plus a direct sequel with a weird and spooky atmosphere like Majora’s Mask.

One thing people don't appreciate as much looking back on this is that this commercial was revolutionary for another reason beside the switch itself: For the first time in YEARS Nintendo wasn't advertising themselves as a toy for children

Hiring Tatsumi Kimishima was the best decision Nintendo has made in years. Maybe I'm jumping the gun by saying this, but I believe this will be the most successful console they have put out since the SNES.

Not an entirely new idea doesn't mean it won't sell well. It's a tablet with Mario, Zelda, and even Skyrim.
I mean, the SNES sold worse than the DS, Game Boy, Wii, Game Boy Advance, and 3DS, so...they've kind of already topped the SNES in the post-SNES era.
Patch93 NX was Satoru Iwata's idea. He announced it and worked on it before his death. (RIP...)
Michael Fellner It's not the least bit revolutionary. Like I said before it is a tablet with Bluetooth controllers and a hdmi output. If the dock ends up having a GPU of its own then that is a step up from other products,but otherwise the only thing special about this is that Nintendo will make games for it.

Is it just me or does that Mario game look like a sequel/successor to Mario 64? It can't be sunshine since there's no fludd, and it can't be galaxy or 3D world because it looked like it played in a large open world. Or, it could just be something completely new. Nintendo did say that the next Mario game would be unlike any other, but this looks very familiar.

I actually predicted that it would be called the NS-- a mix of the DS (currently Nintendo's only successful living platform), the NX (its code-name), and the NES (their first system, which is being revived).

Ok so I just found your channel so obviously, I'm binging your videos while I do chores. The first time I saw this announcement, my mind went straight to the Nintendo IGN podcast, and one of the guys on there saying (in an episode forever ago) something about how he wished he could take the Wii U gamepad with him when he left the house. That the Wii U would be both a home and handheld console. And when I saw the announcement, I was thinking "man, I hope that guy is patting himself on the back right now".
