I have a Pendleton camel coat, 100% wool that I bought in the late 70’s, early 80’s. It’s a wrap style with a satin lining. I’ve worn it for years. Perfect for the change of seasons. At present it just needs a good steaming at the back where I have creased it seating in the car. I know at that time it was expensive for me, but it’s a classic. I have numerous scarves that I wear with it, but all have a stripe of red. I’ve never felt out of place or out of style wearing it. I plan on wearing it in a few weeks with some fake suede jeans and a white turtleneck sweater and a belt and fake leopard shoes. Yes I’m 72.
Hi Gemma, I’ve got a long beige trench coat and just realised that these looks would work equally well for that as well. I was uninformed and aaahing whether to get a camel or black long wool mix coat and as camel isn’t one of my colours, I opted for black. Most of these options would probably work for that too since it contrasts well with all those colours and doesn’t clash with a black dress either. Thank you for the classic inspiration
My camel wool coat is at least 20 years old, mid-calf length, still looks great and so easy to wear! All the colours in the video are my favourite combinations, but a camel coat also looks fantastic with wine/bordeau, navy blue, or dark purple, the right shade of pink, brown, coral and even orange. It's also beautiful with print, like a floral silk shirt, dress, skirt or scarf. It's a wonderful neutral and more cheerful than grey. Such a great investment, and if on a budget one can find beautiful vintage or second-and wool camel coats.
I have a wool camel coat that belonged to my mum and it is over 32 years old. It is still wearable and beautiful, I shall be wearing it this winter, thanks to all your tips Gemma.

I have a camel trench coat. I think I’ve had it for about 4 years but I don’t wear it here in Southern California. I wore it recently to the Czech Republic and Germany with a red hat. What a fabulous look! Black jeans, trainers and I was set.
I got a grey wool coat last year, and then a cream coat this year. Next year I’m hoping to get either a black or a camel colored wool coat. It takes a while to build a wardrobe but these pieces last and are so classic. Thanks for another great video!

I have a genuine camel hair coat that I bought about 18 years ago for about $200 and it still looks wonderful. Even though I now live in Florida, I still hold on to it because it would cost me about 4x what I paid got it to replace it.
Up until very recently I thought that camel wasn’t a colour that would work with my colouring. But some of the shades that are available at the moment really do. I bought my first camel coat last year. It’s a trench from Halogen and I have been surprised at how easy it is to style and have worn it a lot. In Melbourne it gets very cold at night in winter but it’s milder during the day. Now that I am retired and don’t have to hang about on train station platforms at dawn and dusk I am finding that I don’t need an overcoat much anymore, a trench is warm enough.
My classic camel coat is from Benetton and I bought it in the late 90’s when I got my first managerial position. It was expensive for me at the time, but it was well worth it.

One is a fall/spring weight and the other two are for winter here in New England…yes, all are true classics - and a touch of strong color always works. Though my favorite scarf with the light weight coat is currently a multicolored silk in beige/blue tones.

I have a Camel coat with a narrow shawl collar. Probably had it 5 years. Wool and a bit of cashmere. It is a fall coat, lined and a bit loose. I am not 100% satisfied with the shape, but it is a nice coat. Jaeger. I should wear it more and probably will this year. Liked your idea of red and black with the camel. Just got a Ralph Lauren skirt with red and camel pattern and it looks great. Also black jeans and red sweater! Great ideas!

My camel coat is about 20 years old, but it looks as up-to date as many coats I have seen this season. It was expensive at the time. Very fashion inspiring! Don't have a Camel coat but do have a classic cut blazer and embarrassed to admit, it has to be about 25 years old if not more and it is one of my favorite go-to's for the Fall season. Fabric content is 70% wool and 30% nylon which has shown no sign of wear. It is also the most gorgeous shade of camel (as not all are equal IMO) and when worn it's not unusual I get compliments on it. It really is a versatile piece as looks great with everything from blue jeans (for a casual look) to a dress pant (more polished) as well as most skirt/dress lengths.

My camel coat is 30 years old!! It's an old time classic piece in a very good condition and although it's "reinforced" on the shoulders due to the statement of the 90's era....it's still in fashion. I love it. I like watching your videos. You're an inspiration.😊🌹

I bought a REAL camel coat the end of the season, last year. As in, made from camel 🐪 hair! It was over $1000, but it was on sale and I had Nordstrom notes, and paid about $200 for it. I love it so much and can’t wait to wear it an entire season this year.

Camel hair is collected by shearing or combing. A Bactrian camel makes 5 pounds of hair a year. They are not killed in order to obtain their wool.

Those shoulders are what make that coat look exquisite! ... Most coats “off the rack” today look dumpy because of boring/marginal tailoring styling...
