    I really enjoy your videos, particularly because you get straight to the point and there is no long, annoying preamble! You make me rethink what I already have in my wardrobe.

    I agree about the blazer. I like a fitted, waist enhancing cut. I don't own any shapeless boyfriend blazers.

    As a foreigner I watch these videos once in a while to listen to a native English speaker, pick up useful vocabulary plus some ideas for my wardrobe. Love this beautiful and elegant lady and the way she delivers the information, especially when she herself acts as a model, it's so cute. Many thanks and love from Russia!

    I agree about oversized blazers, they’re just not for me. They’re not feminine, flattering or classic, I prefer a classic fit. I was hoping this trend was over, so I was dismayed to see so many in the SS22 fashion shows. I’m still not buying one, I’ll just wait out this trend.

    Love the new graphics, well done you! I learned the button trick years ago. For classic style inspiration, look at pics of Ralph Lauren blazers and specifically the buttons that are used. So easy to make this upgrade, almost anyone can sew on a button.

    I love silk scarves and wear them a lot, I have for 40 years. Some of my favorites are from Amazon and were in the $25-30 US range, which is very reasonable. I do stick to real, mulberry, silk, though, I find the polyester ones are hot, sticky and wrinkle badly. I once scored a beautiful classic cream and black one from H&M for $11 on sale. This was right before the most recent scarf trend started, about 4? years ago, so it hadn’t sold well, but I knew it was a great item. It’s the last silk one they had, though, they use poly now, ok for a bag, probably. They had some very tempting patterns. I wear silk scarves at home a lot too, especially to protect my sensitive neck skin from wooly items. Even the best cashmere can irritate my sensitive skin. Regarding silk: I just discovered silk socks from Tabio, they are downright addicting.

    So agree on fitted versus oversize blazrd and yes to the single button too. i have a gorgeous Anne Klein black blazer. Gold buttons and yes just one at waist...slightly fitted not tight waist...perfctly fitted to me. I wish I had it in many colors.

    Thanks for the tip to add buttons to turtlenecks. I am glad to find your channel. I found great sunglasses at Walmart that look great at affordable prices and suit my fashion sense. I also made my own cases to hold them out of the bottom pant leg of some slacks that were too tight around the ankle. Added a piece of black ribbon and wow.

  • @kimberlyperrotis8962

    The white shirt over a black turtleneck is a great idea. I also love a white turtleneck or mock-turtleneck under my darker tops, it brightens up the face. The classic white shirt, with collar and cuffs showing, works great, too. This is the only way I can look good in a black top, it’s otherwise too harsh on me.

  • @vick9895

    I love your videos! And I agree with every tip you talked about, especially the one about the fitted blazers. I still have to find my perfect pair of black trousers, but for blazer, I have to admit that I have all the neutral colors plus some more bright ones, like a yellow one (I only own 3 pieces of yellow clothes in my wardrobe, not a color I use a lot). But every time I put the yellow one, because it is such a classic fitted cut, I always get compliments on it. I love to wear it with jeans and a striped t-shirt, such a classic, but with a twist!

    I'm a UK size 10 but I'm quite broad shouldered, my arms are quite long and fairly chunky compared to my body. I find with the tailored blazers I have to size up to get them to fit across the shoulders, and to get sleeves that are both long enough and wide enough for me. But then I've got far too much fabric in the body and they look too big.
    So I actually like the trend for the oversized blazers as it means I can buy a blazer that actually fits me! I don't actually like them too oversized at all. But because they are cut looser and a bit bigger I find that my size will actually fit me across the shoulders and have wide enough sleeves without drowning my body.
    So I guess it all depends on your body shape!

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Body shape matters 100%. I have a beautiful friend who can actually wear men's blazers and they fit her, and on her, they don't look like men's blazers. My husband brought me back a man's tweed blazer from Scotland and I couldn't wear it with my narrow shoulders and hourglass shape, but it fit my friend perfectly.

    • @Stangya888
      @Stangya888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly my situation. Fitted blazers do not exist for me! I’m 173 cm tall, with wide shoulders and very athletic body, despite my age. So an oversized blazer looks almost fitted for me! 😂

    We often talk about where we can cut into the budget yet considering our best pennies for the smarter purchase. Here is mine: I was able to order, through my optometrist, a pair of prescription/progressive lenses, with a gradient gray tint, on a durable pair of oversized, designer, gold-metal sunglass frames. They do absolutely everything I need! Darkest in the top third, which is ideal for driving, light through the bottom third, which is where my readers are, and because they are so large, it allows me good visual "real estate". If your eyeballs require prescriptions for near and far, plan for such a purchase, get them gradient tinted, and every day will be your best day.

    Great tips! Totally agree. My favorites are the wide leg trousers, turtlenecks, and the sunglasses. Having a large bust has made it difficult to style scarves well without drawing attention to that area

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a size 42J bust. I wear tops that aren't tight, even if I have to go up two sizes. Then a nicely draped scarf fills in that expanse between my collarbone and my bustline and makes my bust look less prominent.

    I love my oversized blazer, I think it looks great for “edgy” looks and for more “tomboy” looks like wearing a knit hoodie under it. It’s not a classic feminine look, but it works well for me and my style.

  • @LucyStokesOceansofNotions

    I think a designer scarf is one of the most inexpensive ways to have a high end look. Even if everything else you’re wearing is high-street, a designer scarf can be worn over your coat and/or with the clothes under it elevating the whole look.

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don't need to spend hundreds on a designer scarf. For years I've been buying high-quality silk twill scarves with hand-rolled edges on ebay, directly from the Chinese manufacturers. It turns out that my favorite designs are copies of Hermes and other famous brands, but the cost is under $35 instead of $$$$. I have a Hermes scarf, so I have something to compare, and my inexpensive scarves are just as beautiful.

    • @janitapanos240
      @janitapanos240 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer classic, tailored blazers. The oversized trend only works if they fit properly in the shoulders and arms and when cinched in the waist with a leather belt.

    I'm glad you brought sunglasses. I'm always looking for (somewhat cheaper) ones. I can't order them on line, I have to try them on first. Only a certain structure (the space between the brows, the shape and length of the frames) looks good on me. I like the over-sized also. I wear them all the time to protect my eyes. I enjoyed your fashion examples also.

    Decades ago I bought a simple unlined form fitting black blazer that's extra long, it hits at upoer thigh area. Don't recall where or why I bought it but this blazer has transcended any & every trend, still looks up to date and classic.

  • @TheAmiMom

    I have always loved scarves. Invest in a silk scarf that matches your coloring perfectly and you will have it forever. Fashion colors come and go, but if the scarf matches you, you will always have something in your wardrobe that will match it and you will never grow tired of it or the compliments you get whenever you wear it. I’m still wearing my Christian Dior silk scarf that I bought 41 years ago. I also purchased some very inexpensive smaller scarves to tie around bags. I never use an expensive scarf tied onto a bag because a couple of them have gotten loose without me noticing and I’ve lost them. People are not looking closely enough to realize that the scarf you tied around your bag is not silk or high-end if it’s classic

    I'm loving Zara blazers, suits and trousers. I know you have plenty of videos about them but they are still new to me. It seems I need to order loads from a company to learn about their sizing, quality and also a little more about my style in the process. (Your channel has been a great help, so thank you for that!) I used to shop Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and occasionally from Talbots, but I'm not sure if they would make good videos. Haven't shopped those stores in years. I've also ordered loads from Nordstrom, but have been pretty disappointed with quality lately. Keep up the great work and have a terrific week!

    I have vision issues so I got prescription sunglasses. They are really good and can be used for sports as well as fashion items. I had to get progressive lenses so they were not cheap. They are pretty dark though!

  • @martinegiddings557
    @martinegiddings557 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for your wonderful videos and the great advice you share . I'm definitely part of the tailored blazer group - those oversized ones just don't look good to me OR on me, the last thing I need is to look bulkier. To elevate cardigans, blazers and even sweaters, I buy beautiful buttons from Ebay or Amazon and change out the ones that were originally on the garment. I adore silk scarves and have a small collection from high street stores, plus a couple of designer ones. When I do splurge on designer scarves, I purchase from resale sites and pay considerably less that way.

    Love the looks you are showing us. Unfortunately I have at least one size more at my torso/bust, so a scarf makes it even bigger....like at white shirt/blouse, so I never wear light tops or horizontal stripes f. ex. About the scarf: my hair is growing longer, so I'm waiting until I can tie my hair with a scarf. Probably some others have the same "problems"?

  • @Boertje247

    I’d add that if you get the lower-priced trousers and blazer, find a good tailor and get them fitted to you. Some stores still offer this service, like Nordstrom. There is a fee but it’s worth it.
    I also think the place to spend more is on a classic wool blazer in a gabardine, crepe, fine weave, or my favorite, double-faced wool. I bought a YSL blazer RTW, on sale for $900. I was sick about it, but it fit like it had been made for me. I worried what a to-do my mom would make if she found out I’d spent so much! But what do you know, nearly 40 yrs later, it still looks great, I wear it with jeans, a pencil skirt, a wool jersey flair skirt, a giant houndstooth skirt. What’s even more miraculous is that it still fits, lol!
    I had a client, very stylish. She was married to a college professor, so not rolling in buckets of money. She always looked like a million, and she confessed she had gotten hooked on couture when she was in college. She found a resale shop on a trip to Paris where ladies would consign their older couture for something new. These stores were unheard of in the US 60 years ago, but she ferreted one out. She also confessed that on one trip, she spent $2500 on used couture, including a Kelly bag from Hermes, which now cost a min of $5k new. It can be done, ladies, and with all the resale/consignment stores around, you can get the posh look for a lot less!

    I have to admit that it’s often the fabric which helps to make a garment look chic as well as a case of deportment,hairstyle,make up and accessories which make an outfit look more expensive.Personally,I’m a great fan of the androgynous look- wide leg trousers and oversized jackets but I’m not particularly vertically challenged which makes many styles easier to carry off !

      I have a size 42J bust and I love turtlenecks. I go up one or two sizes so that they have a roomy fit, never, ever tight. Dark colors help tremendously, as well. Don't tuck them in unless you want to look like your boobs are sitting on top of your waist. A well draped scarf can fill in some of the expanse of chest, but with a sweater that fits loosely in that area, I don't usually feel like I need to. I absolutely cringe when I see busty women wearing tight sweaters; they might as well be wearing a neon sign that flashes an arrow at their boobs.
