When i see Ian dancing its like he is the first guy dancing by himself that eventually gets everyone else at the festival to dance with him. Except the festival is the world

Natalie is the spit image of her father Ian, but a very private person who doesn't like to talk about family life. She came to know her dad through Band photos film from show "Something Else" sing and dancing to "Transmission" and "She's Lost Control" and the like some of his performances at gigs and his onlyBand music video "Love Will Tear Us Apart". The movie control was hard for Natalie to was during production Actor playing her dad and an actress playing her more and the depictation of her family on screen. Natalie highly protects her dad's name and his personal life. She didn't feel the film gave a complete understanding of her father's illness of depression and truly all the underlying effects from all the medication. Natalie said she's not angry for her father taking his life she knows he was very sick and loves his music and the bands and is a fan of Joy Division. I truly Believe Natalie loves the man behind the voice of those lyrics and words and story be hind it all. I know she holds a special place in her heart for her Fatherand I know she is proud of his achievments. Ian Curtis lives through his music and those peoples hearts he touched. Ian's voice, lyrics, guitar playing with the contribution with band and his poems are timeless. San Riley played a good Ian Curtis but know one could truly act as Ian Curtis. He was unique and a quote from Tony Wilson's wife Lindsey Reade from Documentary "Under Review" Ian Curtis was a special person, a very special person. Ian Kevin Curtis a name worthy of being remembered.

100%. Control was great for us JD fans and for making JD more well known. The medication and his depression though, you can feel it in his lyrics. I just hope his family realizes how much JD and Ian's music has inspired so many musicians. A great storyteller of the human experience.

Thank you. It is apparent that you are close to the principal players and personalities. From way off in the land of Hollywood I was enraptured by JD from the moment I first heard them at 17 years old in ‘79. Thank you for sharing

😢Ian’s lyrics, his vocals and the band’s music helped transform my life. We were the same age, and I was feeling so much of what he expressed. Deep down, I feared that he might die, and when it happened, I was heartbroken. I felt guilty for letting him die. As the saying goes, ‘There, but for the grace of God, go I’… I never met him, but he still means so much to me.

His black and white 79 desolate bridge images of Joy Division and his paint covered Stone Roses in 89 perfectly encapsulate the vibe of Manchester a decade apart and the music of each of those bands. Cummins is an artist.

I was a teen when Joy Division was together. I loved Ian Curtis. But then I was a young adult in the mid 80s, and clubbing was the thing. Dance your butt off! So of course I heard tons of New Order and I loved them too. I eventually saw them in Milwaukee, WI around 1990.Not positive on the exact year now because I was busy graduating college and getting married.

I have seen so many Joy Division documentaries and this is the first time ever seeing his daughter (not that she has anything to do with JD, I thought it was nice to see his offspring.), after all aren't they all about Ian anyway ( that is until New Order is mentioned.),that just made this one stand out from the other films, What a Great band they were, I still listen to them every day and those 2 recordings never get old, just as great now as then.

I discovered Joy Division really late. I’ve always been a music lover and heard of them but to sit and actually listening to them was two years ago. I had no idea New Order and Joy Division were even related. I was jamming to New Order back in the 80s and 90s.
Disorder by far is my favorite all time song. I listen to it everyday as it’s my alarm to wake up to this crazy life.

That's the great thing about film. You are forced to work with what you have. You don't have endless amounts of space to basically make a film blindfolded & then go back to your computer & pick something you got accidentally. You know what you are getting -- what you are making -- when you look through the viewfinder. One of the worst aspects of digital, the number of Stevie Wonder photographers there are out there. Fucking waste of energy.

There's NO FUCKING WAY he was seriously dancing like that. What do you Brit's call that? Taking the piss, lol. He always struck me that way. Almost fucking with people. With the preconceived notions of who he was, and what his role to play was. Could be totally wrong, probably am, but he never struck me as 100% deadpan serious. Then again I'm just a yank who wasn't even 10 years old when he died. Also, New Order sucked. Pretty bad. Really bad, really. I mean, they had that one song, but that was IT.
