Reviews are not comparisons of video games just a score gauging the particular game itself, if you want a score system to compare all video games ever released it needs to be in a scale of a million
+Squirtle yourmom what , if you rate a game based on a score you need to have standards for what that score stands for otherwise the score itself tells you nothing .
"Thin mechanics, incoherent story, summons and magic play a minimal role in combat, no interesting mechanics to master, the camera is your biggest enemy, linear levels in the second half in less interesting settings, choose between advancing the story and having fun, makes my blood boil... but the friendship between the four characters is cool though. 8.2/10!" What is this review?!
Stupid xD they should watch movie and anime to get a better understanding of the story, magic and summons are important, camera got definetely better, and tabata mentioned long time ago that the second half will be more linear to tighten the story experience lol
DeLift I like how you took 1 main line and are surprised it got a decent review. When the other 4 and a half out of 5 minutes is him just talking about how good it is.
No, I think the review was evenly balanced with positives and negatives. 4.5/5 min of him being positive is most definitely hyperbole. In the introduction he mentions that if not for the friendship between the main characters, the whole thing would be threatened to fall apart. To me it felt as though at the end the guy would said something like: "It ain't great, but it has some redeeming qualities that made it fun to play. 6/10" Unless he works on a 6 till 10 scale, the review seems overly critical of a game worth an 8.2/10.
crazyjumpingcheese why you here then? This is literally a video on someone else's opinion on the game. And literally just replied to someone's opinion to the game...
Nemesis Wolf ikr i was telling myself it looked like re5 when we were fighting that spider monster on the elevator but i liked that chapter because i was on my own
It's a plague these days, people without thinking gives 10 to all the games, movies, books etc they liked, and some ridiculous low score to other things that didn't met their taste. No middle ground for them.
@Cyberdemon Mike so you don't think people wouldn't buy something based off another persons review ? Lol bra top critics can REALLY effect sales that's a known fact
Thanks IGN Final Fantasy 15 8.2 Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15 Review 6.9 World of Final Fantasy 7/10 Doom 4 7.1 Alien Isolation: 5.9 Kingdom Hearts II 7.6/10 Devil May Cry 4 7.5 No man's sky 6.0 DmC 5: Devil May Cry 8.9 Titanfall 1: 8.9 Evolve 9/10 Goat Simulator: 8/10 cod black ops 3: 9.2 Call of Duty: Ghosts: 8.8 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 9.1
Ok this makes more sense! If Kingdom Hearts II got a 7.8, and FFXV got an 8.2, than they think FFXV is better than KH II which is one of my all time favorites so this game is going to be absolutely fantastic!!!
Their scores don't mean that Call of Duty is better than Final Fantasy. The review games, especially sequels on what sort of game it's supposed to be and how well it does it. Not fair to compare the two, I don't think even IGN would say they are comparable. Two very different franchises for different people who want different things out of their game respectively.
Just finished this game. Got really connected to the characters and Luna despite not having much interaction with her. Ended up crying after the end. Loved this game one of the best in my opinion.
3:46 "less visually interesting setting"...SHOWS A FRIGGIN LEVIATHAN TEARING A CITY TO PIECES!!! ok yeah bud i see that every day on the way to work, good call...
This guy has never played a final fantasy game if these corridor areas made his blood boil. Every Final Fantasy had this aspect in some way, shape, or form. Fan? Ha.
The last part was on rails in such a way like they couldn't help but do it that way. It seems like square is rediscovering how to tell a story. Still working the bugs out from 13 but I guess it's progress. Not leaps and bounds but progress I suppose. Delivery is off, and the story is poop.
same, never really gotten into final fantasy because im not a huge fan of turn based, so this game was an entry for me and I like how there are so many things to do and how i have to fight bosses 5x the size of me lmao
This game despite its few issues is still an amazing game, yes the camera can be a little ropey at times, the side quests can get a little samey, the magic system feels like its been tagged on at the end and summons seem a little scarce when they are so damn epic. But it is, without a shadow of a doubt a masterpiece. IGN have given much worse games higher scores. This game is FANTASTIC, everyone should be playing it.
A good score and review that I'm not too upset about but... They said a lot of dumb things too. This guy complained about having to spend time on a boss fight? "I didn't like this linear part" uhhh, there is nothing wrong with linear storytelling, all games do it...All final fantasy games have done it?? You run around the overworld, but when you get to a dungeon or main story, you have to do it? How is their no marks/praise for the music, graphics like you give other games?? How does IGN ABSOLUTELY love games like TLOU, Dishonoured, and the Witcher 3 when they are good games with generic stories and they same "problems" other games have but it gets overlooked? I'll never understand that but whatever, I still can't wait to play this game, gonna be amazing.
What got me is that they call FFXV's story incoherent, but when I went back to FFXIII's review no such complaint was made. Now I haven't played XV yet so the story might actually be incoherent (though I doubt it), but how XIII got a pass on that I will NEVER know. Most of the time the game didn't even really tell you anything. You had to go to the in game codex to have any hope of understanding the terms they threw out at you, yet THAT isn't incoherent!? I'm not asking for XV to get a 10/10, but I'm genuinely confused here. XIII gets a 8.9/10 and receives praise from them for its story while XV gets an 8.2 even though XV seems to have fixed many of the issues XIII had? Can we get some consistency here IGN?
DevilHunter1994 my thoughts exactly. well said man. I can't wait to play it either but from the demos they've released it was amazing so I have high hopes
Nothing is wrong with linear gameplay. A lot of times I greatly prefer it to open world. But I think the reviewer was saying that the linear portions are just bad sections of the game, not that their linearity made them bad. He didn't like those sections as much, not because they were linear, but because two hours of the game's story removed three main characters and included boring, long corridors.
I absolutely love this game. I think the combat is simple but clever. If you can perfect it it feels rewarding. I love the music, i LOVE the boys. It's a decent story and it pulls so hard at the heart strings. Not perfect but I really did love this game.
So, the bad things he said was only the new combat for long date FF fans but still a lot fun, the camera (I agree with that part) and some levels be linear. For real, if those are the only bad things, this deserves at least a 9.5; because the new combat is only about you get use to it and you have a lot of time to explore the open world, after that it's better focus on the plot.
He said the final 1/3rd of the story was boring, so if a game's boring for that much of the main part of it, it probably doesn't get a 9.5 from him lol. In all seriousness though, I've never beat a FF game, but this does interest me a bit, but damn is my backlog huge...
Josh Hembree Well, but this happens in a lot of great games. In The Witcher 3 for example, We have a lot of levels with boring plot, but it was all about you adapt the style of the story. Of course, I haven't played FF XV, so I don't know if this is going to happend, but I'm very optimistic
He said that the combat system feels NOTHING like a FF game. He said there was a 2 HOURS linear path part, and it was BORING. He said the graphics on some parts were BAD. He said the gameplay camera was CLUNKY, the summons were MEANINGLESS, and the gameplay requires NO STRATEGY to play. Yeah, therefore the 8 rating. Watch the video again.
This game is easily my second favorite PS4 game. My first favorite is Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5. For a game that took ten years to make, it's really well built and has a fluent battle system with a beautiful open world, compelling story, and memorable characters. Tons of collectibles, side quests, and a lot of areas to explore. This is a must-have for everyone's PS4/XBO collection.
Is giving a game a score of 8 the new standard to not piss of fans and publishers??? I miss that days when reviewers actually reviewed games instead of throwing out a bunch of generic buzz words and fluff!!!
baole58 no 4 years to change the story....10 years on the game.... they changed "stella" to "lunafreye" as her old character never fitted into the story at alll so they remade her from scratch and changed the story to sync her with the brotherhood
Magic playing a disappointing role in combat? Naw...I love the magic in this game. Being able to craft your own. Quintcasting Thundaga, Fireaga, Or Blizzaga...hit's hard, and makes bosses so much easier.
Let me start by saying I miss the pros and cons at the end of the review. It really was a nice way to recap on what was said and why it got the score it did. Anyway, I'm at least glad it starts open and then gets linear. It's like a reverse of 13, except unlike 13, you can go to the open world and take a break from the linear which is actually a much better choice. I'm of course talking in a general sense as I haven't played the game myself yet.
FFXIII is enjoyable when you finally understand the Paradigm System and it can get really tough sometimes. SE just needs to stop trying to make a completely FF game everytime, they need to stick with worked on previous games and build upon that.
Thank you for making this review and to try to cover some the greatest aspects that this game will bring to us. To all the people that is mad because the game didn't get a perfect score... well, this is just this person's opinion and we all have different ways to see things... like myself. I'm a long time FF fan as well and I gotta say he's wrong in certain aspects. He dislikes the fact that there are linear segments and states that he loves the open world feeling; but as far as I can remember, some of the greatest FF where linear as hell, like VI and VII... and I loved it. It falsely gave you the feeling that you had control of an open world while guiding you in a linear adventure that would eventually open to wander off and do several side quests during the late game. All of this is done for the sake of storytelling, because if you give that much freedom you could lose the feeling of the adventure you're living. This is the greatest problem I've found with most RPG players nowadays... we're leaning towards western RPGs that focus on freedom and open worlds, but lose the magic that a good story can tell us. JRPGs, on the other side, are more linear and try to narrate a tale that will keep close to your heart for eons. The thing is that Japanese developers are creating these westernized JRPGs in order to please not only Japan's audience but the whole world, and somehow it works. I love the feeling that they give you an open perspective of the world but still make you play obligated segments to maintain the adventure alive... just like a movie.
If it is based on person's opinion it should have his name on the review and not IGN. If they want to use the name IGN, they should ask everyone in their 'game tester' to play it and aggregate the score.
nefarious k definitely. Out of the entire IGN team only two are actual qualified to give good reviews. Some of the IGN team can't even play games. But still unless it's a time where there are at least 3 games coming out you can spare the entire team to get an average review score. Instead they only have one person review the game. It's not like IGN is a small team either so they can get multiple people to play the game.
Im about 20 hours in and im in love with it. It took a while for me to realize it, but i love it. Love the character interactions, combat is kingdom hearts-ish but deep enough to have decisions/tactics to make. You can't just mash/hold O/B. You will die. your teammates will die. And the team feels like an actual cohesive unit during battle. Story not so sure about yet but we'll see. Side quests are pretty damn repetitive though. Every quest line has the you doing the same exact things in different areas
So the latest copy-paste CoD title gets a 9 or whatever and a true masterpiece like this an 8.2? What irks me the most is his main criticism for this game: being forced into linear sections without your friends. So the CoD campaigns for example are completely linear and still seem to get praised by them. Listen, I know different people have different opinions, but jesus how the hell does a franchise like CoD get such high scores every damn year? They literally change almost nothing, have an attrocious DLC/microtransaction model and still GET PRAISED by IGN every damn time. Something is definitely wrong here, that is for sure.
XXX XXX I played the game and I can objectively say that almost every claim you make is false. The world itself is miles ahead of any standard open-world game, the story is engrossing, the villain is actually fleshed-out and has clear motives, I'm 18 hours in so far and the game so far has blown me away, and this is coming from a guy who has played almost every open-world/RPG game in the last few years(sure it might not be as good as Witcher 3, but it is still phenomenal). I'd recommend for you to jump back into the game until you completed the second act, or else actually try out the game if you haven't yet.
I know this game gets kind of a bad rap but I finished it about 2-3 months ago (dlc too) & I have to say.... I absolutely loved this game. I was sooo invested in it & I was super sad when it was over. “For me”, it’s on my top 10 games of all time. Btw, this one my 2nd ff game I’ve ever played. FF7 remake is next on me list
it sounded like the game was going to get a lower score. he pointed out more flaws than positive stuff about the game. He sounded disappointed. why would he give it an 8.2. is an 8 now the new 6?
my problem with the score is not that it deserves more or less but that the score is not consistent with the review. its almost like saying "Batman v Superman was a good movie but had a lot of flaws. it was messy and the plot was all over the place. i give it an 8.2" even thought a score of 6-7 would make more sense, amirite?

I think he just put more emphasis on the flaws. In todays day in age with game prices so high, I think it's important to let the consumer know as much as possible what they'll be getting in to. I would rather focus more on the flaws than the good, considering that will likely be the reason whether or not I buy the game.
The real score is in the review itself, which you clearly notice but I fear that giving it a 7 or 6 would have brought the pitchfork folks out their caves.
I love Final Fantasy 15 this game provided me with so much relaxation compared to other video games I enjoy hanging out with noctis crew had tons of fun I recommend this game to everyone all over the globe
No, it isnt. It literally is hold circle and switch to square when youre losing too much HP. Throw in the occasional warp and character command and youve got it. This is the first FF game that I beat without dying one time in combat and I followed the aforementioned strategy the whole time. I also didnt level grind. Thats how easy it was.
im a bit late... it is VERY hard to die in this game because you get in the danger state and you can just use a potion to get out of it.. im playing the game right now on Windows and im absolutely loving it! its my first Final Fantasy game aswell.I was thinking of trying the other games aswell, should i?
asxciie the reason why 8.2 is seen as a bad score by many here is due to the fact that they have been working on this game for an absurd amount of time and people just feel like it should be a masterpiece, not just simply "a great game". Someone in a different video said it best when they described it as someone studying for a single test for 10 years and upon finally completing the test you end up with an 80%. it's not that 80% is a bad score but it's more like; for the amount of work that you put into it there's no reason why you shouldn't ace it.
jaysonpeters In the review it was said "a great game" and at least it isn't getting reviews like duke nukem forever which was in development for 15 years, look on the bright side.
+Dontell Benjamin Lets all hope and Pray that Final Fantasy VII Remake is NOT going through the same development hell I bet its coming by December 2018.
Eliseo Ramirez I have insanely High Hopes for Final Fantasy VII Remake I can wait i hope Sqare Enix takes their Time i dont care IF it takes them 6 years for the Full Game Well at least the have the graphics Engine
Nuthead 611 even ign didn't give it a 9 and it's far from it. Most people thought the game wasn't bad but clearly disappointing it didn't live up to the hype. Especially the rushed story that's trash after chapter 8 and the supporting characters that are seen very rarely with little to no character development not to mention chapter 13 is the worst dungeon I ever played in any jrpg hands down. The game is also too easy and casual requiring little strategy so long as danger mode and a good amount of curatives are in stock. And QTE for bosses and astrals kills any challenge as well. The game suffers from glitches and can even freeze at times it's an ok final fantasy but in the middle at best. Btw I'm not a FF 7 fanboy 6,10 and 4 are my top 3 kid lol.
Nuthead 611 And there we got the answer I thought you'd say as reason for your opinion. You hate turn based jrpgs! Lol not to mention the old ones weren't even hard except a few but the majority were fairly challenging at least unlike 15. Nothing wrong with turn based you just clearly admitted you you're not good at it.
There were some weird elements in the game such as how it went from open world to linear questing about halfway through. And the combat was at times overwhelming. But the music, cinematics and boss fights were some of the best ive seen in a game. It is heavily story driven and the feels you get at the end of the game are well worth it.
That's why video games score system is terrible. In movies, a movie that is given a 7 or so is still considered great. In gaming any game below a 9 is considered trash. Because of videogame journalists, now gamers are used to see 9 everywhere, when that score should only be given to true masterpieces.
Because they gave FFXIII a higher score....I'm sorry but after they praised FFXIII's story I just can't take them seriously when they call any game incoherent. It's not a problem with the actual score so much as it is the lack of consistency with their complaints even between games in the same genre or franchise.
Just finished the game while finishing a moderate amount of side quests. I actually agree with this IGN review for once. Open world doesn't feel as connected to the main story, second half of the game felt rushed, some characters weren't as significant as you want them to be, and the camera was my biggest enemy (lmao). However the combat is great, can't argue with that. The story nonetheless was amazing and I might have to top this over my all time classic FF7, just expected more from a game that was developed for so long.
Chrisna Sinn In reality, when something has been in development for such a long time, it should drop your expectations because Thats never a good thing. It doesn't happen when everything is going great, it happens when the games development keeps hitting a lot of problems
@@radumirceabunica7492 The story is just emotional. I've played The Last of Us and never shed a tear but FFXV made me. There's also a sense of connection with your friends. Its not a game i'll ever forget.
Reviewers got the copy for their games a little more than a week ago. That was enough time for them to whip something up and post it right at 10 am on 11/28, the moment the embargo lifted. Plus this is a game that has been hyped up for 10 years.
This is stupid. Complaining that end game is Linear while you already played all Final Fantasy's ? Please tell me how FF7 is not linear at the end ? FF12 ? Dude, most of RPG's end up Linear at the end, and honestly, i do prefer that. You won't lose the immersion of the story line. I remember the ending of Witcher 3, it was kinda Open World, (even thought it's one of my top 5), the end game linear destroyed the immersion. And please, don't tell me that's wrong. I'm not trying to defend FF15, i still haven't played it. But i'm just trying to defend the idea of end game linear.
They may not be praising the story but most reviews I have seen don't think it is necessarily bad either its decent just not a huge epic. Also I've seen more than a few praise the ending of the game.
Just got around to finally beating the game. It was tedious. 😫 A running/ chocobo simulator & a fetch quest nightmare. One of the worst in the FF series. 6/10 for me
well why not start now? The final fantasy series isn't ending anytime soon and every FF brings a new story and a new world (so you don't have to play previous ones to get the story they are all different)
What happened to the colourful, unique, widely varied characters that are a staple of FF games of the past? Why have they been replaced by the members of My Chemical Romance
Scores mean nothing in my eyes but it is the lack of detail that the reviewer puts into this video. IGN thinks they can condense a huge open world rpg into a five minute video? He did not even mention the combat system being different then traditional final fantasies. Also he did not even mention the way you level up the cooking system and so on. I feel as if this reviewer is too worried he will miss his flight home then giving worth while information. IGN really has fallen down the crapper since the Kinda Funny guys left.
MysticTjay and that was my point my friend, its a video game they can stream it for 2 hours but cant spare 15 or 20 minutes so that people get a real feel of what the game is? I think I would have enjoyed a more of a conversation then some dude reading blurbs from his written review IGN needs to evolve or it will be left behind.
MysticTjay Actually I have had a problem with this format for awile. This game in particular just made me speak up. It had ten years of development and hundreads of hours of content. TH-camrs and other review sites are doing more of a chill review format where they just talk about the gane rather then try to give it a score. Just my opinion man they gave Skyrim 8 minutes plus a lets play to me they should incorperate the lets play with a "review" also the person reading the review for the VO was sort of dull. IGN used to have personalities and now they sort of don't anymore
Vulpor Vulp good point there's other channels that might be better for your taste like the before you buy series they go far more in depth than ign video reviews. I get what you are saying tho
i hope the camera angle wont be as bad as they depicted in the review. The other things are preference but if im in mid combat and i can't see what im hitting (or what is hitting me) ill be sad ):
I don't enjoy RPGs that much. Tried getting into Skyrim, Witcher, Outer Worlds, and got bored to hell fast. This one introduced me to Final Fantasy, and became the first RPG series I put my heart into.
They should do a remake on FF12. Fav combat system out of the series, that Gambit system for the ai was neat. Also those Limit Break attacks we're dope a'f, especially when you chained them together.
Final Fantasy 15 Review Scores: IGN- 8.2 out of 10 Game Informer- 8.5 out of 10 Gamespot- 8 out of 10 Stevivor- 8.5 out of 10 DailyDot- 4 out of 5 USgamer- 4 out of 5
Is this a good time for me to try out Final Fantasy for the first time? I've never played any of these games but it looks confusing. I thought it was a medieval game and then I saw the car?
So, he mentioned that the "campaign" takes around 40 hours or so, but along with all the exploration and finding hidden areas and sidequests and all, does anybody have a rough estimate of how many hours we're looking at for a completionist style playthrough?
This game would've been perfect if they spent more time on the main story and explaining it. A few cutscenes in key moments would've cleared stuff up without having you speculate.
AG Entertainment true I'm buying this no matter what, but reviews affects other people opinions and the game's reputation. It's just unfair for a game that worked on every detail for over 10 years to put its heart out for JRPG fans to be received with a passable score. This is a masterpiece that deserves game of the year nomination.
PrmtymeTheGamer If this idiots keep giving FFXV an 8,0, i doubt we are going to see KH3 in Eu and NA at all... the reason? if this game doesnt sell well, SE is going to probably lose focus on west cuz of their bad critics to Japanese culture. They have use a lot but a LOT of money on this games publicity, if it doesnt sell well.. believe me, the whole company (SE) is going to have financial problems and probably not going to release any more games to EU and NA for a good time.

etcher1981 So what? you mash one button to kill everything in kingdom hearts too, Mashing or holding - not a big difference. Also all ff games since ff10 you could basically win by just spamming Attack command over and over with occasional healing.
Final Fantasy XV unlike COD,Gears of war,Halo or assassin's creed that actually nails the feelings and bonds between these friends to make them all feel like brothers to each other. Like each one is so important to each other
This is my favourite FF game. Has its flaws, sure, but none of that really bothered me. The characters are fun and interesting, and the world is so cool. I'm so glad that the combat in this one isn't stuck in 1990's video game limitations like nearly every other game in the series. This game really held my attention, and I sunk hours into it without even noticing.
***** I thought so. You can actually compare them in a lot of ways. Open world, characters, gameplay. FF XV isn't the best FF by far, but it does offer a lot of quality in said elements. I think it beats Warch_Dogs 2 in that aspect. Otherwise, and not hating, but W_D2 is your generic open-world, urban, stealth and TPS game. FFXV is way better, IMO.
Nikita Tushinski side quest are better in TW3 and the main story is deeper, with a great story structure and you don't need to read the books the understand the game. Unlike FFIV
this is just a boy band simulator, with cringy dialogue and prehistoric storytelling. whats the point of having the bodyguards if you cant control them? this thing tried, and failed, to be two different games.
This guy never did any of the side quests or he would have seen the volcano stage, ice stage, castle, forests, canyons, swamp, etc that made the game setting so diverse.
I just don't know how to feel about this. Nearly every review I've read (or watched) seems to hype up the relationship between all the main characters like it's the best thing about the game. And I guess that's good. But it also seems like it would get annoying to play the game for hours....and it's constantly a bunch of bros talking to each other. During battle, after battle, between battles.....just bro conversation after bro conversation. Less talky...more killy. But I guess that's just the introvert in me. God I miss text bubbles. No voice acting. Just everyone shutting the hell up while you kill a dragon. Everyone's gotta be Spiderman these days, with their endless battle banter.
I mean, realistically, running around with your best friends while killing monsters will be cause for conversation between everyone. It's not a "bro" conversation, they just try to have fun. Because they actually enjoy each other's company and all that.
chewface I mean, what did you expect ? Everyone to act like you? I guess call it the extrovert in me but, I'm tired of all things in entertainment that have to be the "strong silent type" everyone has to be too cool for school? I like the banter and the talking in between battles it's evened out in my opinion... the game would have been more boring if I have to read every thing... every two seconds... you want more killy less talky then go play dynasty warriors or devil may cry or another hack and slash game... as for this game it's amazing in my opinion...
jaykansher87 Just calling it as I see it, man. Not a fan of the endless banter in modern RPGs. I wish people would act a bit more serious when they are saving the world.
chewface I mean... yeah there is a seriousness that comes with that huge responsibility but, I'm saying there has to be a little bit of a break of the dreariness with a little bit of levity. But let's keep in mind it's a game meant for entertainment purposes and real life is so serious why does my joy have to be serious as well? Isn't the reason we play this is to throughly be entertained... ?
hi guys, I was wondering if I'm the only one who enjoyed episode duscae's combat system more than in full games, Noctis has had his own techniques something that is lacking in the current game and buddy actions were performed with a little more need of skill(there were glowing spots during the battle on which you had to stop to trigger buddy action).
The back 1/3rd of the game were Noct is stripped of his powers is actually really amazing and great. That moment of gameplay is necessary for character development and is meant to feel different from the rest of the game.
Not even trying to be funny, this game has the best fishing in any RPG yet.
Haven't played the game but from what I saw on videos, isn't the fishing basically the same as Zelda Twilight Princess?
Major Lee can they swim like super mario 3d?

Stupid xD they should watch movie and anime to get a better understanding of the story, magic and summons are important, camera got definetely better, and tabata mentioned long time ago that the second half will be more linear to tighten the story experience lol
megakoni1 Your first and last arguments aren't excuses and the rest is pretty subjective
Unless he works on a 6 till 10 scale, the review seems overly critical of a game worth an 8.2/10.
Honestly im only about half way thru the game atm but the only part of that i agreed with was the camera being my biggest enemy lol.

IGN drools over fps games
Their scores don't mean that Call of Duty is better than Final Fantasy. The review games, especially sequels on what sort of game it's supposed to be and how well it does it. Not fair to compare the two, I don't think even IGN would say they are comparable. Two very different franchises for different people who want different things out of their game respectively.
I've noticed that IGN have gotten rid of the pros and cons graphic from the reviews.

Syuna the story was great but was told poorly
The last part was on rails in such a way like they couldn't help but do it that way. It seems like square is rediscovering how to tell a story. Still working the bugs out from 13 but I guess it's progress. Not leaps and bounds but progress I suppose. Delivery is off, and the story is poop.

I very been waiting on this for 10 years...they could have gave it 0.0 and I wouldn't care i play them all except for the online one 11 was it

God forbid a level be linear in an open world game.
Yep, ironically, the expectation that a open world shouldn't have linearity here and there is constraining and close minded.

And a lot of bs
FFXIII is enjoyable when you finally understand the Paradigm System and it can get really tough sometimes. SE just needs to stop trying to make a completely FF game everytime, they need to stick with worked on previous games and build upon that.
I agree, I like when games start out open and end linear it lets the stakes have more meaning. Haven't plaind the game yet so I'm only extrapolating.
David Medina you do realize this is an IGN review right.

Just wanted to state my opinion
If it is based on person's opinion it should have his name on the review and not IGN. If they want to use the name IGN, they should ask everyone in their 'game tester' to play it and aggregate the score.
nefarious k definitely. Out of the entire IGN team only two are actual qualified to give good reviews. Some of the IGN team can't even play games. But still unless it's a time where there are at least 3 games coming out you can spare the entire team to get an average review score. Instead they only have one person review the game. It's not like IGN is a small team either so they can get multiple people to play the game.
you're so right
Im about 20 hours in and im in love with it.
Wait have you played it before or seen the livestream of it?
XXX XXX I played the game and I can objectively say that almost every claim you make is false. The world itself is miles ahead of any standard open-world game, the story is engrossing, the villain is actually fleshed-out and has clear motives, I'm 18 hours in so far and the game so far has blown me away, and this is coming from a guy who has played almost every open-world/RPG game in the last few years(sure it might not be as good as Witcher 3, but it is still phenomenal).
I'd recommend for you to jump back into the game until you completed the second act, or else actually try out the game if you haven't yet.

it sounded like the game was going to get a lower score. he pointed out more flaws than positive stuff about the game.

The real score is in the review itself, which you clearly notice but I fear that giving it a 7 or 6 would have brought the pitchfork folks out their caves.

asxciie the reason why 8.2 is seen as a bad score by many here is due to the fact that they have been working on this game for an absurd amount of time and people just feel like it should be a masterpiece, not just simply "a great game". Someone in a different video said it best when they described it as someone studying for a single test for 10 years and upon finally completing the test you end up with an 80%. it's not that 80% is a bad score but it's more like; for the amount of work that you put into it there's no reason why you shouldn't ace it.

Nuthead 611 7.5 let's be honest only noobs to the series and ppl caught in the hype would say 9.
The dude with the biggest sword also has the biggest mullet and that is just distressing to see. Cloud at least had the decency to trim the back.
Why do we live in an age where an '8' is a bad score!!!? How even....
People just assume a good game needs to be an 9/10 at least. Anything below that is heresy.
TheBrownLamb I think they're upset because games that are worse got higher scores.
That's why video games score system is terrible. In movies, a movie that is given a 7 or so is still considered great. In gaming any game below a 9 is considered trash. Because of videogame journalists, now gamers are used to see 9 everywhere, when that score should only be given to true masterpieces.
TheBrownLamb because games are either getting consistently better or getting a lot worse and bringing down the scale and I think it's the latter
TheBrownLamb
You don't get it. People are mad because the same guy gave Evolve a 9.0.
IGN, I have lost faith in you. So long.
Why, because they didn't gave them a 9 or 10?
idk the review seems fine to me
Because they gave FFXIII a higher score....I'm sorry but after they praised FFXIII's story I just can't take them seriously when they call any game incoherent. It's not a problem with the actual score so much as it is the lack of consistency with their complaints even between games in the same genre or franchise.
Big company, Different reviewers review different games. Why is that such a hard concept to understand?
Squall no it didn't

Reviewers got the copy for their games a little more than a week ago. That was enough time for them to whip something up and post it right at 10 am on 11/28, the moment the embargo lifted. Plus this is a game that has been hyped up for 10 years.
Making 10/10 reviews for every CoD title takes time. It certainly ain't easy.

Yeah but the problem is , almost no reviewer praised the story this time. Why would anyone want to be immersed in a lackluster story ?
They may not be praising the story but most reviews I have seen don't think it is necessarily bad either its decent just not a huge epic. Also I've seen more than a few praise the ending of the game.
Just got around to finally beating the game. It was tedious. 😫 A running/ chocobo simulator & a fetch quest nightmare. One of the worst in the FF series. 6/10 for me
I've still never played a single game in the Final Fantasy series. I saw this at a Family Dollar store for $13.00.
well why not start now? The final fantasy series isn't ending anytime soon and every FF brings a new story and a new world (so you don't have to play previous ones to get the story they are all different)
What happened to the colourful, unique, widely varied characters that are a staple of FF games of the past? Why have they been replaced by the members of My Chemical Romance
The Japanese are something else, I wouldn't read to much into I mean they have restaurants in the shape of giant toilets in Japan.
Best Final Fantasy game I ever played. I'm seriously addicted to the darn game.
Its not better Than 7
@@qaching nothing is better than 7
Scores mean nothing in my eyes but it is the lack of detail that the reviewer puts into this video. IGN really has fallen down the crapper since the Kinda Funny guys left.
agreed
MysticTjay
and that was my point my friend, its a video game they can stream it for 2 hours but cant spare 15 or 20 minutes so that people get a real feel of what the game is? I think I would have enjoyed a more of a conversation then some dude reading blurbs from his written review IGN needs to evolve or it will be left behind.
Vulpor Vulp they never done it like that. You're asking them to change their entire review format for 1 game
MysticTjay
Actually I have had a problem with this format for awile.
Does it seemed rushed? Maybe I'm way off but from the review the game seems to be rushed in some areas
pasGedden7 10yrs is rushed?
pasGedden7 the game literally took a whole decade to make
u think 10 years of development? technical programming, story, and game design... 10 years for that?
Without spoiling it some parts do seem rushed but in a narrative way not a technical way
it didn't.... go search before you comment dumbass this game only started development in 2012
Whoever designed Chapter 13 can go right to hell!
major smith 23 lmao
feel like I could overlook/not care about the cons he gave.
so then it might be a 9/10 for me.
Alex Lauriano well it would just be a difference in opinion
PurpleReptilianShitlord okay
i hope the camera angle wont be as bad as they depicted in the review. The other things are preference but if im in mid combat and i can't see what im hitting (or what is hitting me) ill be sad ):
Alex Lauriano i gt da game camera angle is pretty bad
Just finished this yesterday. Absolutely loved it.
It's worthy to buy?

I'm not a hardcore Final Fantasy fan, but I did play FF7 and enjoyed (back on my trusty PS). but I gotta say, I'm really liking Final Fantasy 15 :D
Liking FF7 is just the best evidence that you have no idea what a good FF is :(
Karpfador Like I said, I've only played FF7 and that was yeeeeeeaars ago lol
didnt like 7, love 15 :D
Joseph Su'a Trusty
Karpfador my favorite FF is 3 followed by 2 on SNES(realistically 4 and 6) and I'm loving 15. Compared to 11-14 it's a breathe of fresh air.
"Not enough bromance". 8.2 - ign
I don't enjoy RPGs that much. Tried getting into Skyrim, Witcher, Outer Worlds, and got bored to hell fast. This one introduced me to Final Fantasy, and became the first RPG series I put my heart into.
still looking forward to the FF7 remake the most.
@Hamkiller I know, I still haven't played it yet lol
They should do a remake on FF12. Fav combat system out of the series, that Gambit system for the ai was neat. Also those Limit Break attacks we're dope a'f, especially when you chained them together.
that's more of a remaster

If Final Fantasy wasn't in the title this game would have scored a 9 or higher.
Resh-IX your wrong
That's right.

Nah it probably would of got lower if the title didnt save it
Is this a good time for me to try out Final Fantasy for the first time? I've never played any of these games but it looks confusing. I thought it was a medieval game and then I saw the car?
Each Final Fantasy with a different number happens in a different world there no continuity between them
CasterRides Each final fantasy is its own story for the most part. Personally, I think it is a good time to try it.
PurpleReptilianShitlord Sounds good.
CasterRides I recommend Final Fantasy X. It and its sequel just got HD remakes, so now is a good time to try it.
PurpleReptilianShitlord Hmm I'll check it out. Isn't there an online game? I like MMOs.
Not like you really need this review at all. You knew whether or not or going to buy this without the review.
I bet the game sell like hot cakes in Japan

IGN gave kh2 a 7.6 lol. What will they give 3?
+Junior Stop Motions they'll remake the series for the 4000th time with the HD final mix dj radio edit remix 2.991 "almost there"
Pretty sure Persona 4 golden and Ni No Kuni have been the only Jrpg's in recent memory that IGN gave a 9 or higher. Souls I guess still counts too.
This was actually a decent review, from IGN
Props to the reviewer, and I never thought I'd say that, especially when it comes to IGN
Imagine how FF XV Remake will look like
8.2 not enough water. IGN reviewing games is still painful...
Lol they deleted the"15 minutes" gameplay
This game is honestly the oddest game I've ever played, I want to enjoy it, but it just confuses the F out of me
All Japanese RPG's are odd, you'll get used to it

wow, Hold the button to attack LMFAO....
Wow, you hold the button to attack in dragon age inquisition too, and i don't remember anyone whining
etcher1981 So what? you mash one button to kill everything in kingdom hearts too, Mashing or holding - not a big difference. Also all ff games since ff10 you could basically win by just spamming Attack command over and over with occasional healing.
button mashing is much superior, /sarcasm off
AKN Concept Because adding an actually combat mechanic with more mechanics adding depth to the game play would have been dumb too right?

You do have a point there.
@@SignedNaz it's strange how fans take reviews as facts rather than opinions.
To many FF games: 8,2
IGN
Wait so this mean Watchdogs 2 is a better game since it got a higher score?
Watch Dogs 2 is a pretty good game but it's really nothing like FF XV.
I'm just jokiing there's really no way to compare these 2 games.
"Bad story, bad camera, linear sections, boring campaign, simple and skillless gameplay, but good characters"

After finishing the game I can see how well writen this review is, contragulations IGN
Too many FF fans here :D Final Fantasy XV is good but not the best. I still prefer The Witcher 3 or DA:I
Muhammad Isa it's just your opinion
Nikita Tushinski side quest are better in TW3 and the main story is deeper, with a great story structure and you don't need to read the books the understand the game. Unlike FFIV
this is just a boy band simulator, with cringy dialogue and prehistoric storytelling. whats the point of having the bodyguards if you cant control them? this thing tried, and failed, to be two different games.

New patch will let us control all characters.

This guy never did any of the side quests or he would have seen the volcano stage, ice stage, castle, forests, canyons, swamp, etc that made the game setting so diverse.
it's killing me not being able to get this game til the 25th
The prince nappy Oh my god, same dude.

call of duty Infinite Warfare got the same score from IGN. Just think about that for a second.

Because they actually enjoy each other's company and all that.
spoiler: there's a lot of plain killing and little talks near the end. you'll be solo without bros, too.
chewface I mean, what did you expect ? Everyone to act like you? I guess call it the extrovert in me but, I'm tired of all things in entertainment that have to be the "strong silent type" everyone has to be too cool for school? I like the banter and the talking in between battles it's evened out in my opinion... the game would have been more boring if I have to read every thing... every two seconds... you want more killy less talky then go play dynasty warriors or devil may cry or another hack and slash game... as for this game it's amazing in my opinion...
jaykansher87
Just calling it as I see it, man.
I love this game, they need to make a review of the Royal Edition.

hi guys, I was wondering if I'm the only one who enjoyed episode duscae's combat system more than in full games, Noctis has had his own techniques something that is lacking in the current game and buddy actions were performed with a little more need of skill(there were glowing spots during the battle on which you had to stop to trigger buddy action).
The back 1/3rd of the game were Noct is stripped of his powers is actually really amazing and great. That moment of gameplay is necessary for character development and is meant to feel different from the rest of the game.
