claystar9valor I don't think that's what's going on, plenty of people over 30 play video games regularly. It's likely more to do with how the audience is controlled during studio tapings. They react on queue.
Blorp Weatherby Let's call it 50% what I said and 50% what you said. Not everyone follows studio queues, especially if they're a fan of something they see or hear.
I think you are both wrong. A studio audience isn't the same type of people as the folks that go to anime conventions. People that actually spend hours waiting in line and getting screened to go on a late night show are just into seeing famous people in person, not gaming. I don't know a single gamer that would actually want to see Elijah Wood enough to travel to an event like this to do it, I know I wouldn't. You see this on the Daily Show as well, its the guest that usually gets the best applause, its just what that cultural group is into. You probably can't just sign up for the gamer part of this show, so its unlikely many people were here for the game.
@@fideljr1763 Well to be fair, it took them 10 years because they had to reboot it completely twice during development and them developing their own engine to run it caused them a lot of problems. That's why the FF7 remake is using Unreal Engine 4 instead.

alexander linderson I think its a special boss that must meet certain conditions, maybe summing up the time it takes to defeat it would be 72 hours total?
Yeah probably an estimated 72 gameplay hours into the game, not a literal three day no sleep battle. Either that or there's an in-game clock that has to pass, like in Pokemon to grow berries time has to pass irl, but you don't have to be playing the game. In the first case, that is a lot, but plenty of people put more than 72 hours into their favorite games.
That statement could mean 2 things most likely: - It takes 72 in game hours (around 3 hours) - You need to have powered up and played the game for 72 hours before fighting it.
More likely is that you never actually fight it and it's like one of those stupid send a squad off and it'll happen 72 real time hours from now used in Bravely Default and some of the Assassin's Creed games.

And there is no real dialog to question NPCs. FF games are overrated as the whole JRPG genre.

Why am I reading about dresses???? lol To be very fair, these were all normal things to be like "What?" lol
exactly. a lot of game designers nowadays forget the fundamental of game is to make it fun, not make it real. why would we want it real if we can do in real life. Fantasy should be fantasy and those mundane stuffs can be axed since they weren't necessary.

@@bLuGhOsT_ Yes. Why is pushing a car through the desert at the start of a game. Stop hiring typical writers for games, it makes them boring. I love Final Fantasy and laughed a lot too. You would have to have your head up your ass to not realize that there some parts to Final Fantasy that are really stupid when you think about them, and seem completely insane to someone that doesn't play video games.
Haha hes in on it, and most of this is rehearsed. If you watch their live streams the guy who is getting picked on, almost controls the show. he plays the character of super geek for this segment :)
Sharpnova I'm pretty sure I've seen him in footage from back when Conan was on NBC and I definitely saw him when Conan was doing his live tours before he even got a spot on TBS so he couldn't be a network exec. More likely a exec producer or senior writer.
He is a currently a network exec and not even Conan's direct boss. He's a VP at TBS. Conan isn't a TBS holder so he is a TBS employee with no stake. This guy is literally Conan's boss's boss.
Pushing a car, boyband excited over a wedding dress, key battle you flee from the monster and have to wait.... Pretty accurate assessment in my mind. It has some fun elements, but even fanboys can't deny that the game has some... odd choices in it.
The Anarchist Otaku 1. If a game needs to be fixed with DLC then maybe the developers stopped caring about their product. 2. Type ‘how to use punctuation’ into google and apply what you’ll learn to future comments.
"in order to get any of the story you need too have watched a 2h movie kingsglaive and the brotherhood anime that is in my opinion bad game design a game should carry the story by itself" That's not opinion; it's fact. If you have a video game that needs outside sources to understand it--especially if you don't include those sources with the game--then the game is poorly made. "Final Fantasy" isn't the same as the MCU or a popular TV show that can do a season-long story arc, as it doesn't rely upon the success of its franchise for people to understand that they're playing a game that's in the middle of a story, since none of the games tie into each other. So yeah, if you don't give people the full package, then you're not giving them a complete product, which is called, as you said, bad game design.
I love final fantasy but ff15 was very disappointing. They were working on the game for 10 years and thats what we get. They did fix the game though adding all sorts of abilities, the use of all 4 character’s and lot other things. But the it was supposed to come with standard release. The royal edition that they are selling now is what the standard game should’ve been. They sold the game in updates and dlc like bungie does for destiny.
I actually think it might have an effect. It genuinely convinced me from getting the game. I wasn't like, super on board to begin with but I was going to get it a bit after launch, first sale or something- now I don't want it at all.
This is one of my favourite Clueless Gamers for multiple reasons, but Elijah Wood is a big one. He fed Conan most of the funniest jokes by making observations that Conan would workshop. Of course "We're trapped in a Beckett play" is characteristic Conan gold. This was great.
This is one of the best things ever recorded in history. The humor is so on point and the end is just epic. I think I'll never get tired of watching it.

@@mr8883 Apparently he was wrong, it's actually 3 in-game days (though that's still equivalent to 3 hours irl), but the damage you do to it is also permanent, so you can damage it a bit, and come back later and it will have the hp you left it at. This is just answers I've found when I looked it up though, haven't tried the game myself so idfk.
Actually, this is the one time i feel he's clues up. XV looked trash when it was Versus XIII, and it still looks trash now. This used to be my favourite franchise but SE are doing everything in ther power to kill it.
And yet it is selling more and more. FF13 has been the fastest selling game in the franchise. Really, the games are doing nothing wrong, maybe you changed ;)
SquareTales Of course XIII sold quickly. It was the first HD Final Fantasy, people wanted to see the franchise in full fidelity. It's also considered one of the worst entries in the series, and it's sequels sold less each time.
People were saying it was 72 hours long all over the internet, but in reality even if you are really under geared it should only take a couple of hours.
I've played every Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy I on the NES. It was my second game ever in fact, and I'm still pretty deep into gaming to this very day. I have the upmost respect for the series. The epic story, fantastic music, and the improvements and changes the series has undergone. It has been a part of my life since my childhood and helped me through some of the darker times in my life when I was down and just needed an escape from everything else. It is important to me. That being said, if you can't find the humour in this video, or get that upset by another person's opinions, then you need to take a break from the internet and start thinking about things that are a little more important to your world than someone not absolutely fawning over something you like. Aside from being funny, this video brought up really valid criticisms. The game is going to have flaws. Some people aren't going to like it. This should not hamper your enjoyment of the game in any way, shape, or form. Some of the comments I've read... To be so angry over such a harmless video. Get over it.

I'm not upset with what Conan said at all. He's a comedian, nothing that he says should be taken seriously. What's upsetting is that a lot of people ARE taking what he says seriously, and using it to affirm that the game really will suck.
compared to other jrpgs, final fantasy starts not as slow, and thats the main reason why most people attracted to jrpg anyway, they are relaxing and good for unwind

IGN review is for people that know what a JRPG is, and just want to know how good of one it is, while this is for people that don't normally play games, that are not pre-installed on their phone.

A protracted conversation with your pet fish about a completely different topic is more informative than an IGN review.
Lol i think ign is a pay for a good review type of medium that companies use to get a hype train going. They have horrible interviews and the info the give is very vague.

"...and joining us today, Elijah Wood"
*standing ovation from the crowd*
Audience mostly doesn't play games since, I'm guessing, they're mostly 30 years and up on average.
claystar9valor
I don't think that's what's going on, plenty of people over 30 play video games regularly.
They made the exact same silent reaction when he name-dropped GTA V, what is your point?

Conan seems to really like making literary references.
He has a degree in English literature. Wrote his dissertation on Faulkner apparently.
Rewatching this now, I finally understand all his references. There’s...a certain satisfaction to know that 3 years of english major led to me understanding Conan describe FF
@@evangelosnikitopoulos are you sure about that? was reasonably sure he was a history major.

That Harvard education coming through.
Hey look.. i'm a gamer too, but 72 hours to kill a boss? Beating that is like winning the no-life nobel prize!
alexander linderson I think its a special boss that must meet certain conditions, maybe summing up the time it takes to defeat it would be 72 hours total?
Yeah probably an estimated 72 gameplay hours into the game, not a literal three day no sleep battle. Either that or there's an in-game clock that has to pass, like in Pokemon to grow berries time has to pass irl, but you don't have to be playing the game. In the first case, that is a lot, but plenty of people put more than 72 hours into their favorite games.
That statement could mean 2 things most likely:
- It takes 72 in game hours (around 3 hours)
- You need to have powered up and played the game for 72 hours before fighting it.
Also think about your teams level? Maybe a weak level would take longer just as a high level will be shorter?
More likely is that you never actually fight it and it's like one of those stupid send a squad off and it'll happen 72 real time hours from now used in Bravely Default and some of the Assassin's Creed games.

Why am I reading about dresses???? lol To be very fair, these were all normal things to be like "What?" lol
exactly. a lot of game designers nowadays forget the fundamental of game is to make it fun, not make it real. why would we want it real if we can do in real life. Fantasy should be fantasy and those mundane stuffs can be axed since they weren't necessary.
i dont understand the realism in going to places more beautiful than any place you will ever be and fighting a giant worm while casting magical spells.
+Yipi Yayo you are so right and that's why I'm worried about this iteration off Final Fantasy. Trying to hard to be REAL.

I do not regret my decision.
I'm guessing you didn't fight the Adamantoise. It only took me about an hour to beat him. Not sure where he got "72 hours."
If that boss really is 72 hours long then I have gotten to the stage where I have to question the sanity of Square Enix O.O .
It's not really undoable when you take into account the fact that you can just put the ps4 in sleep mode with the app running, just pray that there isn't a power outage lol.
It's probably one of those optional bosses that FF has, where you don't have to fight them to win the game. FFVII had Ruby and Emerald, for example.

Conan throwing massive shade
I have to watch the whole thing again now that I know Square Enix was watching.
Conan was directly and openly verbalizing the truths of why the game and its designers failed to be worth our time. That is not "throwing shade", it is called "reading". The word "shade" should only be used by those who know how to use it correctly. If you think the word "reading" is too boring to deserve mainstream usage outside whatever corner of the LGBTTBBQIAAP community it got started in, then yes, I COMPLETELY agree with you.
Scott Anthony.. You are a moron. Trying to explain the applications of street words but ultimately ending up sounding more uneducated than dog vomit.

If you genuinely felt offended that Conan hates FF15. You have to realize... it's Conan playing. lol. Will this hurt sales? No, not at all.
ehh it might hurt the sales. keep in mind these games are marketed to more than the FF fan base
Not really, best example is CoD. Literally every single video has the Dislike bar overshadowing the likes. Yet, year after year they still sell like hot cakes. Granted this time around it's finally on the decline. All you need is the right marketing. With that said, what is one video by Conan O'Brian going to do. lol. Also the fact that he always says he is not a gamer speaks volumes heh.
For the casuals it might. Now if you are a FF fan,it won't.People need to realize this is Conan playing.
CoD is the worst example. This year their sale had plummeted. Other CoD games in the past as well.

Haha hes in on it, and most of this is rehearsed. If you watch their live streams the guy who is getting picked on, almost controls the show. he plays the character of super geek for this segment :)
he doesn't just almost control the show. he's a network exec and conan's direct boss.
This is perhaps the most appropriate assessment for FFXV on the internet, I'm not even joking
Pushing a car, boyband excited over a wedding dress, key battle you flee from the monster and have to wait.... Pretty accurate assessment in my mind. It has some fun elements, but even fanboys can't deny that the game has some... odd choices in it.

1. If a game needs to be fixed with DLC then maybe the developers stopped caring about their product.
2. Type ‘how to use punctuation’ into google and apply what you’ll learn to future comments.
"in order to get any of the story you need too have watched a 2h movie kingsglaive and the brotherhood anime that is in my opinion bad game design a game should carry the story by itself"
That's not opinion; it's fact. So yeah, if you don't give people the full package, then you're not giving them a complete product, which is called, as you said, bad game design.
artinbazikyan b
I love final fantasy but ff15 was very disappointing. They were working on the game for 10 years and thats what we get. They did fix the game though adding all sorts of abilities, the use of all 4 character’s and lot other things. But the it was supposed to come with standard release. The royal edition that they are selling now is what the standard game should’ve been. They sold the game in updates and dlc like bungie does for destiny.

I've played every Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy I on the NES. It was my second game ever in fact, and I'm still pretty deep into gaming to this very day. I have the upmost respect for the series. The epic story, fantastic music, and the improvements and changes the series has undergone. I find it really funny how FF fans think this is a serious review are are flipping out about it. It's a comedic sketch, they're just poking fun at it. Grow a pair
I find fun FF fans think THIS is an actual FF game.
I'm an FF fan and yeah I know this is for comedy, but he's really (unjust fully so) hurting the reputation of a game in the making for the last 10 years.
And square probably payed for this, they should get their money back and some more...
EirikXL He isn't hurting it though, this won't hurt sales silly. Even then its already sold what 5 million units? Calm down you passive aggressive nerd, FF won't die because someone poked fun at it
CluelessDetective No no no, I'm not butthurt or anything, it's just Square basically payed money to have their game slandered, and that's fucked up. Just in principal
I'm the biggest ff fan and I feel the same way as Conan lol.
sovannv many of us are
It feels so refreshing actually seeing an actor having fun on a talk show!
6:16 Elijah totally looks like a Hobbit here.
He's too damn skinny to be a hobbit.
xinic5 stupid fat Hobbit
Hobbitses...?
No... Not you. I thought I left you in the goddamn cave!
No....Not you. I thought I left you in front of a bunch of Kingdom Hearts games and manga...
There fix it for you...
The most honest of reviewers. Hope everyone remembers he's not actually a gamer and actually gives the game a shot.
mohawkbrando even then, a final fantasy game required dozens of hours to adequetly judge. playing for 7:30 and skipping 97% of the game won't adequetly capture the allure of the game
mohawkbrando uhm I'm pretty sure Conan hates video games and is in no way a good source for a real review. I mean imo everything he said here is true I hate jrpg
partydean17 He isn't. I just love how honest he is about it as a non-gamer.
TheUmbrellaCorpX7 I was referring to the people that watched the video, not Conan.
He doesn't give the game a shot, who are you kidding? He does these segments to make jokes not fairly and critically review them.
Dropping comparisons to Beckett and Joyce while playing FFXV is really something else.
smaller cathedrals Do you mean that in a good way or bad way?
Who’s Beckett
when Conan's Harvard degree shines through
@@kurtwagner350 Samuel Beckett.
Kurt Wagner
Samual Beckett an Absurdest playwrite. His most famous work is Waiting for Godot, a play in switch two characters are waiting for a person that *spoiler warning * never shows up.
Conan: "There's always a ring"
Frodo: ...
5:10 "WHY WOULD SOMEONE PLAY THIS!!!" xD xD xD xD xD xD that line killed me still..xD xD xD
NWA362 please drop the "xD" you're giving me cancer
xD cancer, sadly untreatable
NWA362 hilarious when he grabbed him and slammed him agsinst a wall
because they want to check out that dress!
his assistant nerd guy lost a lot of weight, good for him :)
Dylan Welch his personal story is pretty motivational I forgot where I read it though
yeah.. it was something about being heart broken and working out and eating healthy helped him alot moving on and being a better man.
Didnt his longtime girlfriend cheat on him or something and instead of letting it get him down he used it to better himself, or something like that...
You can read about it on his personal blog. Yes, very motivational!
Dylan Welch There is a video explains how to lose weight, Conan is in it.
Now I want him to play some Kingdom Hearts
Me too!
Dil Matturro LOL that would be something
Dil Matturro probably would say "kids, dont do drugs"
Dil Matturro DA DARKNESS DARKNESS DARKNUSS DARKNUSS DADORKNESS
Wait another 10 year or 7 month
I love every single moment of this video! Elijah and Conan need to go on SO many adventures together:)
If you take Conan seriously you deserve to be offended. The skit was so funny 😂
B Wild Some of whaat he said is understandable
It was absolutely true. I think people that hated this video did so before playing FFXV and then realized what he said was true.
Only it wasn't a skit.
How are people so triggered by this? I'm a huge FF fan and hyped for FF 15 but this is hilarious and points out the absurdity of FF games.
A lot of butt hurt fanboys and a lot of idiots that assume Conan is actually reviewing the game. Even though he's not really a gamer and doesn't really understand the games story.
I'm not upset with what Conan said at all. He's a comedian, nothing that he says should be taken seriously. What's upsetting is that a lot of people ARE taking what he says seriously, and using it to affirm that the game really will suck.
compared to other jrpgs, final fantasy starts not as slow, and thats the main reason why most people attracted to jrpg anyway, they are relaxing and good for unwind
alley ferguson i dont think square wanted them to show fight scenes maybe they said you guys can dhow some aspects of the game but thats it
hes havin fun you can see even the people who made the game arent in a riot. no one can take a joke. everyone is straight to crying and bitching if someone isnt worshiping something they worship.
What’s sad and yet funny is that “clueless” Conan here is spot on in slamming the game.
Not really
@@spikytoaster yes really!!! The game didt have to be open world as it was so empty !!! Felt like metal gear solid 5 empty open world. I heard it slightly improved over the years but it’s fair to judge it at release. I heard they improved car traversal but at release all the car did was go linear. Literally they had a car that just went through the pavement and just drive so slow. It was painful to drive. The combat was the only thing that helped me finish the game because it was fun. The story was bad and also chapter 13 was so bad and boring and so long. It broke the game easily
They play so well off of each other,
& I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them team up for more!
Conan is the f*&^ing King!
Haha he killed it
Sing it brother
"An epic, blue-balls waste of time" haha. That's how I feel about just about every video game.
gabelogan56 that is your loss then lol
Just missing out on the Last of us, such a shame missing that emotional experience
He isn’t, he is a prick
I like that it took Elijah a second to get the ring joke
Time stamp?
