This is my first time seeing this interview with Aretha Franklin and Merv Griffin. The interview was going good until Merv started to question Aretha about her father @3:08. When Merv mentioned Rev. C.L. Franklin, Aretha's entire body shifted and her mood changed quickly. And I can't too much blame her. Who didn't know two years prior that at the time Rev. C.L. Franklin's home was burglarized and he was shot twice by the burglars? I mean that was national news. And Merv should have done research on what is currently going on with Aretha! But I am glad that he picked up on it and changed the topic quickly. Smart Man!!

That's why I'm writing this, just in case there is someone out there that wants some clarity like I did years ago. However, I got to meet her and see her up close various times, and she is not dark-skinned. She's medium brown. I would say, like a cinnamon brown. Her mother was light-skinned, and her dad was dark-skinned. Their kids were light, medium and dark, like in many black families.
