We should never ever forget just how masterful Ms. Franklin. She literally reworked “I will always love you” to the tune of “The greatest love of all time” This family. Whitney, Dionne, Aretha + Cissy Houston. All of these are vocal, musical powerhouses.
This was not a good idea, watching this video before going to work. Man tears are rolling like Aretha was my favorite aunt. God Bless you Aretha, thank you for the beautiful music that will live on forever. Queen take your rest ❤️😢.
It's just mind-blowing that a whole level of talent is gone within years of each other: Michael.. Whitney...and Prince. I was born in the 50s, so all the artists from 60s, 70s, and 80s are in my genre and are still performing with a few gone in their youthfulness like Phyllis Hyman..Vesta..Natalie Cole, Luther..who it would have been cool to watch and experience growing older with their talent. The 3 that are gone -- it would have been something to see growing older with their talent that you could still experience for that generation to look back on and still enjoy. Seems the industry gets behind those who fall under the category of performers more so than those who can come out and sing or play music on par with the singers and entertainers of eras gone by. Just my take based on what I see. Seems you can only have one major person and the others just get a turn at bat.. And other performers line up to get their turn for a season... Glad I grew up in the era I did where we had a richness of singers and singing groups and singing bands on display at the same time.. View your parents record collection and the songs being sampled. Blessings to all who read this. Stay safe and be watchful and prayerful.
Over the past week I have been marinating in Aretha's music and it has been soothing to my soul. I have been crying a river because I am going to miss The Queen of Soul. Aretha can SANG any genre of music (Gospel, R&B, Soul, Pop, Rock and Opera and others that are not mentioned) and it can touch your soul like never before, this is why she is The Queen of Soul. When I heard this rendition of "I will always Love you" I cried even more. Rest in peace, Queen Aretha Frankin.
There are no words to express what my heart is feeling. I grew up on Aretha Franklin's Music. Good bye Aretha as I day dream listening to your greatest hits.
Aretha done this song in her version. And she did it justice. I felt like singing riding along and sang this song in my genre. The best rendition to ever be done. I haven’t sung it like this since. Music can’t be performed at it’s best without passion. I’m not real passionate these days about singing love songs

I get chills, teary-eyed every time I hear Aretha sing. That, laced with a bittersweet celebration of Whitney's life, the harsh reality of her untimely death, is almost unbearable.
Whitney Houston was blessed with an awesome voice, no denying that. When it comes to the Queen, the Queen of Soul....I don't know another singer that could change the atmosphere like Aretha. She made you "FEEL" what she was singing. She sang everything from her soul. There will never ever be anyone that even comes close to her.
Aretha Franklin your voice is so powerful I cry now that you are gone but in my heart your gift of music will forever live on you had a way of making people feel whatever it was that your were feeling RIP you are a very special lady.

May I just say how much talent it requires to tell a band member to give you a key and then improvise your way through the song. Aretha should have sang this short rendition at Whitney's funeral. It could of been a new recording in my opinion. She has shades of her younger self in this tribute. Her gospel roots come out nicely.

Ms. ARETHA FRANKLIN is a beautiful soul, and always has been Mr. Ken Wall. She is Whitney godmother. She doesn't need to suck off Ms. Houston fame. She has been famous long before Whitney came on the scene. God rest her soul.
Gwendolyn, refer Mr. Wall to the song before this one on this compilation titled "Aint no way," in which Aretha sings and is backed up by the most beautiful back-up singing ever, the voice of Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother. Rita mentored Whitney.
thank you for setting the record straight. whitney was ms. franklin's god daughter. In fact, Whitney was criticized for not 'having enough soul' influence in her music when she first started out. So many comparisons were made to Aretha and Miss Aretha is one of a kind. Whitney grew as an artist but Miss Aretha can never be duplicated!
I’ve watched this before, but tonight it hit my soul... my heart... deeper than before. I can’t stop crying. I cry for the honor of witnessing Aretha improvise like that. I cry because I miss Whitney. And I cry, because now this clip takes on new meaning... it’s like a little farewell gift from the Queen, letting us know that she’s gone on down the road, but she’ll always love us. My heart still breaks that she’s gone, that they’re both gone. We will always love you Aretha 🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm gonna call it the blessing of Whitney Houston. She was definitely shinning down on Aretha that night. Especially from 4:06 on, it's like something opened up in her vocal cords and she sounded like her younger self singing this. Phenomenal!
This is the first time I heard this switch of this song. Aretha switch the whole rhythm of the song. She made it her own. That was so BEAUTIFUL how she did it/I wanted to cry. Aretha you will be truly miss . We also miss Whitney. 😚
22nd November 2024. Listening from the UK 🇬🇧. Thank you for using your gifting in Music & truly blessing us, may Heaven be filled with your beautiful gifted voices.. Amen
Aretha has always been a beast on the ivories ...I've always felt her best performances were when she sang while playing piano. I used to love the way Aretha would re-do somebody's song (re-arrange)....smh. Like Otis Redding's "Satisfaction", Beatle's "Eleanor Rigby", Dionne's "I Say A Little Prayer"......and on "Eleanor Rigby", she slayed that piano.
+grifitti Aretha is a master and interpreting songs. I liked the arrangement she did with I will always love you, it would have been amazing to hear Aretha sing it at the height of her vocal ability....still she sounded amazing doing it in her current voice.

Rest In Peace to both of these unmatched and legendary women! Wow! We were blessed to have them during our time.
I'm gonna call it the blessing of Whitney Houston. She was definitely shinning down on Aretha that night. Especially from 4:06 on, it's like something opened up in her vocal cords and she sounded like her younger self singing this. Phenomenal!
Sherrod Sings-Yes Lord!!
Truly the greatest of all time and a "Lady of Class."
Crying. She's such beautiful being, voice of an angel
This is the first time I heard this switch of this song. Aretha switch the whole rhythm of the song. She made it her own. That was so BEAUTIFUL how she did it/I wanted to cry. Aretha you will be truly miss . We also miss Whitney. 😚
She always makes me cry whenever she sings
This was so special....Aretha is class all the way. RIP Nippy you will always be loved and you are not forgotten.
Its a pleasure to hear Ree sing...she's a survivor among them all...
22nd November 2024. Listening from the UK 🇬🇧.
Thank you for using your gifting in Music & truly blessing us, may Heaven be filled with your beautiful gifted voices..
Amen
R.I.P Ms. Franklin. Thank you for all the great songs and the empowerment you gave to women. RESPECT! You will be greatly miss 😭
From Ms. Franklin to Ms. Houston -- one mega star to another -- may GOD bless both of you eternally.
Hello how are you doing over there and a happy Sunday to you and your beautiful family?
Aretha has always been a beast on the ivories ...I've always felt her best performances were when she sang while playing piano. I used to love the way Aretha would re-do somebody's song (re-arrange)....smh. Like Otis Redding's "Satisfaction", Beatle's "Eleanor Rigby", Dionne's "I Say A Little Prayer"......and on "Eleanor Rigby", she slayed that piano.
***** yes grifitti.. her best moments for me as well hve been her at the piano..
+grifitti Aretha is a master and interpreting songs. I liked the arrangement she did with I will always love you, it would have been amazing to hear Aretha sing it at the height of her vocal ability....still she sounded amazing doing it in her current voice.
grifitti. Ms. Aretha Franklin is Truly a "D" town cutie forever. AWESOME
"Nessun Dorma" Pavarotti asked Aretha to sing this when he couldn't appear on stage. th-cam.com/video/3gCuyrKVDCs/w-d-xo.html
I agree grifitti!
Two legends.....Aretha and Whitney, their music will live on forever. RIH songbirds. :(
Hello 👋 Yvette. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. Mark Clifford and I'm from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
🗣COME THRUUU REEEEEE!! Before Alicia or anyone else, you've always been a BEAST on that 🎹🎹🎹...HANDS DOWN! The legendary, SOULFUL vocals and exerting the church hymn all at the same time... TIMELESS & PRICELESS!! You were paying homage to Whitney, and now you've been called to glory😢😢😢... I'm so saddened and prayers to your family at this difficult time. May you continue to Rest in Peace Our Queen, God only takes the best of them. You were such a tremendous inspiration
