    Great video man, my order was the OG RE2, RE3, RE4, and then the remakes, definitely give the originals a go! For me they’re the epitome of what a Resident evil game is. Looking forward to see how you feel about them!

    Resident evil 3 was made to play like a randomized dungeon crawler.
    - inevery playthrough, small items are randomized by default, and events are changed on-the-go, depending on the player actions during both gameplay & the choices made when the option appear on screen. Also, Nemesis does have an element of randomization to what room he'll be roaming around.
    It always rewards new playthroughs with new surprises, it's infinitely replayable.
    That's why the remake is such a bummer.

    My experience playing the Resident Evil games was absolutely phenomenal. I began with the Resident Evil remake as I found it cheap on the Xbox store, it took me 3 separate playthroughs to gather the courage to finish it all the way through, but it was worth it; after that I was HOOKED. I immediately got my hands on the Sourcenext versions of the original RE2 and 3 plus the SHDP mods (though on subsequent playthroughs I will be playing without these mods as in their current state they make the games look a little cartoony). I then played the Resident Evil 2 Remake which I dropped after completing the A campaign as it really didn't capture my attention as much as the original (don't worry fans I played it again after a while and LOVED it). I went on a hiatus for a couple of months until the RE4 Remake came out and I got sucked into the games again. Because I firmly believe in experiencing the original vison of a game before playing any modified version I immediately went out and bought the original RE4, and it has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. After completing RE4 I went back to replay RE2 Remake and played the RE3 Remake, while the RE2 Remake genuinely surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, I find it too big of a departure from the original so I hesitate to call it a great remake. RE3 Remake on the other hand is such a tragic thing as it is such a poor remake of the original game, however, for some reason I still found myself really enjoying the games story. After I finished these I went on to play Resident Evil 5, now I will admit that this is my opinion and I understand that not many people will agree with me BUT: I genuinely HATED RE5 I think its the absolute WORST game in the series just beating out RE6. RE6 is its own beast, that game is so outlandish that I never really thought of it as an RE game while playing it so I imagine that's why I didn't bother me very much. After all that trash I had to go back to the series' roots, so I decided to play Code: Veronica. Upon discovering that there was no PC port of CV I had to emulate the GameCube version to be able to play it, unfortunately this was probably a mistake. Somehow my installation of the game was unstable and my experience was plagued with several odd glitches/crashes making the experience very frustrating at times. This was a major disappointment for me as I had heard of some RE fans not enjoying CV because of the difficulty. Thankfully, despite the experience not being everything it could be, I still enjoyed CV quite a bit and I definitely believe that anyone who calls themselves an RE fan must play it at least once. Finally, I played RE7 which I thoroughly enjoyed.
    That just leaves RE8, RE0 and the original Resident Evil in the mainline series. Beyond these games I intend to play Resident Evil Survivor Redux (which can actually be played on PS1!!!), and hopefully outbreak file 1&2. For any RE fans out there who want to explore even more amazing experiences in this world I highly, highly recommend playing the RE2 Remake with the fixed camera mod, and the Resident Evil 0 Demake.
    For those of you who haven't already, I also recommend playing the Silent Hill games, checking out the Devil May Cry series (which was actually a second version of RE4 at one point), and if you've really got a passion for survival horror try playing the Alone the Dark series, particularly the first game if, if you're up to it, and definitely the fourth game which is a really high quality RE clone from 2001.
    As for my recommendation on the order to play from where you are now; I say play RE5 and 6 as these games will be the lowest point so keep these to the middle of your playthrough. Then play either the 2&3 remakes or play the original trilogy as it was intended (RE1 Remake of course) then follow up with the remakes and RE0.
    Don't worry I didn't forget about Revelations, I my opinion both of the rev games are so stupid that they are hardly worth playing. Rev 1 was going to be made for the 3DS and it shows, this game is only worth playing for the banger soundtrack and the TV show'ishly bad story. Rev 2 is just a watered down, budget clone of The Last of Us with no character that I couldn't even finish (though this was probably because I was too exited to play the RE4 Remake). Play these games either well after completing the mainline games or after 5 & 6 if you don't want to spoil the experience of playing the best games back to back.
    Finally, the Resident Evil 4 Remake. I chose to omit this one from my previous play order as words cannot describe how much I love this game. Between it and the original I think we have a contending couple for the greatest game of all time if we're allowed to count them as one. I recommend playing this one after all is done as a way of saying goodbye to the origins of the series and being left with one of the sweetest tastes of gaming.

      @EldritchConduit 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's wonderful to see you talk about your journey through the series, and I'm attaching my 5 cents to yours as a complementary opinion (in a friendly tone).
      I picked up RE5 Gold Edition for the PS3 at a GameShop way back when and have since played a majority of the games on several consoles. My personal preference is hands down the 5th game (but original 2 feels to me like the best game in the franchise), and it makes me so terribly sad to see it getting bashed as it is by a loud portion of the fans (in general). I stood in disbelief when I saw the teaser for Project: W for Dead By Daylight as a direct result. While I'm the first one to laugh at the terribly problematic parts of it I've made dear memories with the CO-OP and primarily enjoyed the culmination of the Chris vs Wesker story.
      But yeah, RE6 is a fever-dream and Revelations 2 is, eh, not great.

    • @The5camille5
      @The5camille5 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@EldritchConduit Its great to hear the opinion of another RE fan. I hope that my 2 cents weren't to polarizing, I have to admit that I have never played RE5 in co-op but I feel that while the game might be more fun that way it wouldn't solve the root issue of how the game simply isn't survival horror. It seems to me like they guys in the studio were like "Oh, I wonder if combining Resident Evil with Halo/Call of Duty would be cool?". It feels more like an experiment in what Resident Evil could have been rather than the true vison of the games, and RE6 just took a step further. While fans of original tend to blame RE4 for what happened to the series, I think that it was always going to happen. The evolution of games will always happen and at least RE4 was a great game, for me its a lot easier to blame RE5 as the cause of the downfall, as I just don't like the game. But I will be keeping a very open mind for the inevitable Remake of 5 as I agree that the story was definitely intriguing. Albeit I really despise the change of scope that the game brought (making the threat of bioweapons a global thing out of nowhere), its really a disservice to the experience, thank god they caught on and brought RE7 and 8 back to the creepy remote locations of the originals. And I really feel that bringing Wesker back in for just one game and killing him was really confusing because, at the time, I hadn't played CV so I hadn't seen Wesker since RE1. Fortunately, RE4 Remake gave Wesker a bit more of a prominent roll so it won't feel quite as strange but, unless they remake CV first, the whole teleporting around thing will seem just as stupid as it did when I played RE5 the first time.

    • @mikeabney2527

      I definitely think RE5 was the worst out of the series..
      Code Veronica is one of my favorites yeah it can be a little difficult but wait until you play resident evil zero.. that one I believe is the hardest of the series, when you play it you'll find out lol
      I can understand not liking Revelations 1 but RE Revelations 2 I thought was pretty decent and I've been waiting a long time for them to finish that story or incorporate what happened at the end into another game cuz it's crazy.

    Great video, I had to sub. My first RE game was the original RE2. I tend to gravitate towards the classic style games, but I like the current direction of the series. I don't think any of the remakes have replaced the originals, because the classic style games are so different than the remakes, except the remake of RE1 is still made in the classic style. I recommend playing the classic games before the modern remakes. I'd start with the remake of RE1. It's on modern consoles. I love Zero too but it's pretty divisive among the fans.

    35:32 I think the optimal combinations would be the following combinations:
    -1: OG RE1, RE2 and RE3 (maybe RE Code Veronica as well, but then maybe split them into two groups),
    -2: RE0 and RE1 Remake
    -3: RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake
    -4/5: RE5 and RE6 / RE Revelations (1) and RE Revelations 2 || (or if you prefer to play them in chronological order) RE5 and RE Rev. (1) / RE6 and RE Rev. 2
    And for the Question why Code Veronica wasn't remade... yeah nobody knows...

    I have a similar origin story with resident evil. I downloaded the demo for RE2 remake because i wanted to try that franchise that I never tried before. There was one problem tho, at that time, I pretty much had a phobia of zombies. It was intense but I wanted to beat my fear of it. I started playing the demo, i didn't finish it, I was too scared but when the game came out, i still bought it and I was able to finish it and it has become one of my favorite games of all time. Now, i play, watch and read a lot of zombie content because i love zombies now, it still scares me a bit but it's normal because it's horror.

    I went on a similar journey, being a latecomer to the RE franchise because I never owned a console. Always been a PC gamer. Well, after being an Amiga gamer first in the early-mid 90s anyway. Like you, I started with RE7, which was a lot better than I thought it would be. The first half is brilliant. Give it a solid B overall. Then I did RE8 Village. Man, what a disappointment. Didn't even finish the castle. Hated the main character and all the bosses except for Madame whatever. A bit later I saw a really good sale on the RE2 and RE3 remakes, so I went that route. Was completely caught off guard how unbelievably good RE2 remake was. (You are in for a treat!) Give that game a solid A+. On to RE3 remake, I had a good time playing it the first time around. But something felt off about it (besides being criminally short) and I couldn't put my finger on it until I replayed it after replaying RE2R a couple of times. Initially would have given it a B, but after comparing to RE2R, it was clear what a dumbed down version of that it was and shocking how much material they just left out from the OG game. The only real saving grace is that it was cool looking and Jill is a pretty bad-ass hottie with good voice acting. Move that down to a C now. Lastly, played RE4 remake. I'll just say this is my favorite game of all time. A+. Endlessly replayable and massively long when you include the Separate Ways DLC. I have never played any game as many hours as this game. Obviously an S+ rating. Can't wait for RE9 and other RE remakes!

    Love this video because I recently played RE2 Remake and absolutely fell in love with it. It's now like a comfort video game that I beat in one sitting regularly.
    I've never really given horror games a chance. Played a bit of RE7 in VR years ago and wasn't sure I wanted to be that anxious for a whole playthrough. Other than that, I only knew of Resident Evil from being an edgy kid on TH-cam in the early 2000s when RE4 was new and referenced often.
    Despirate to see if I would love the other games as much as RE2 Remake, I played every demo available and eventually bought a bunch from a recent Capcom sale, so I'm in a similar boat of trying to figure out how to catch up on this franchise that I unexpectedly became obsessed with.
    I am in the middle of both the 2005 RE4 and 2002 RE1 Remake. I'm love/hating both games and their frustrating controls. But I figured I should know who Jill and Chris are by playing the first one before continuing on, and I'm not letting myself play RE4 Remake until I finish the original.
    I now own RE0, Code Veronica, Revelations 1 and 2, Biohazard, and Village after the recent sale. I don't have anyone willing to co-op 5 with me and have heard it's nearly impossible solo, so I'm waiting to experience that, and then I'll dive into the alleged dumpster fire that is 6.
    I'm bad about starting new games without finishing an old one, so I'll probably be in the middle of 7 soon. For some reason, I'm most excited for 8 and can't wait to dive into that.
