I thought for a second you were using a blue plastic icecreamscoop to clean the fretboard! Nice job again.

A great repair Patrick. I hope you managed to get Mrs Shed's toothbrush back in the bathroom before she noticed it missing!

Stressful gigs are the worst. We were playing New Year's Eve (just a few days ago). We were debuting a new 90's set of material, so we were already a little more nervous than usual. 15 minutes before midnight, we were between sets, and a bar fight broke out, and a young man was stabbed and died. We all went from excited for the new year countdown to tearing down as fast as possible while in shock, because the cops wanted to lock the place down as a crime scene. One of the worst starts to the year I could've imagined.

That was interesting and fun to watch.

A nice, fairly easy repair! My first thought was to use a Heli-Coil, but I see why that wouldn't work. I had no idea that you could get a bar with a larger diameter. I'd would have had to just buy the Fender replacement block because I don't have the tap, chamfer and de-burring tools at hand.

Great repair! Lucky you had the extra trem arm.

That’s the hybrid set of strings I like! Put them on all my electrics. I’m older and that 9, is good for me to bend. Always like as much low I can get, hince 46ers on the bottom. Bravo! I was a little concerned about the size of hole and threads you did because of the thin walls of metal around the new hole. If you pull down too aggressively on the arm it might blow the wall out. You know all that and this guitar may not be subject to that. It is as good a fix as any! Thanxz

You could have made a brass trem block you definitely have the skills Patrick , i had a Harley Benton ofset guitar and lost the trem ( a push in type always too loose) i bought one from Amazon that sort of worked but again too loose so i put a kink in it and it works great now ,( i no longer have it i gave it too my cousin's granddaughter who's a 15 year old music nut who WhatsApps me asking questions every few days lol . Looking forward to the next build happy New build .🤘😀😀

A little late to this video, but don’t you still have the term block from the Firebird or other more recent builds laying about?
I remember you switching it out to another “shallow/shortrr” one because it was hitting the body.
It was from the Floyd rose. Would that fit?
Also, you could use a pen spring in a pinch. I did that once when I lost the spring in mine. I remember it being small and about 10mm long, so I just grabbed one of those clicky pens, cut the spring down and away I went.
TBH, until this video I forgot it was like that and it’s been like that since 08.

Epoxy putty or jb weld would also be an option in the worst case.

Are we still calling them tremelos in 2025?
I worked in and on prisons erecting and maintaining security fencing during the '90s, it was a pain, it took an hour to get through security in a morning, we were not allowed to eat our lunch on site so it took time to get out again, then back in after lunch, and then out again at the end of the day, we were not allowed to skip lunch or breaks or risk losing our security clearance, it was cracking money but the jobs took forever, military bases were much better.
