  • I bought the Coleman Montane 8p tent and put this family camping tent to the test. I provide a complete Coleman Montana 8 review about my camping experience. The Coleman tent review experiences I've had in the past have been mostly positive but the Coleman Montana 8-person tent is the worst tent I have ever set up in my life! The Coleman Montana 8 has a camplicated camping tent design. For family camping on the weekend the Coleman Montana 8P just takes too much time to set up. Not to mention that this Coleman tent has a number of structural concerns when it comes to the camping tent's ability to manage rain.

We have used this tent for multiple seasons now and disagree with so many of the points you have mentioned in your video. This is actually a really awesome tent . No leaking for us and we have been through some rain and wind storms! I am almost 6' and have no issues with the height. We house 2 adults and 5 dogs in this tent comfortably, with our queen size air mattress cot, multiple dog beds and a dog crate. :) As an actual user of this tent, I would buy another one , especially since ours also has a cool light system in it as well. We set ours up now in less then 15 minutes as well. The swing out door is awesome too! We love our Coleman Montana elite.

@@LoneCrowAdventures I agree. As a brand new camper, my wife bought this for our first camping trip based off of the reviews. But after using it the first time I could not understand how this tent got so many good reviews. We used it for the first time camping as a family of four with a dog . And this was very uncomfortable. The set up time took a lot longer than expected. And as for interior arrangements we used two queen mattresses and put one on either side and we had a very small area in the middle where the door was to move around. Also, there is very poor ventilation in the winter I had to keep all the vents open to try to reduce the amount of crazy condensation that this tent produces, but it was still not good enough and that was only at 50° weather. Also, this tent can make you feel a bit claustrophobic because of the mask that hang so low you really only have decent clearance in the middle. The walls are angled, so you have very limited space on either side I wouldn’t even say that this is a 16 x 7 I would say it’s more like 10 x 5 usable space. I am now looking for a different tent to try to encourage my family to go camping again because our first experience was so bad that my wife and kids don’t want to do it again and most of it was due to Being uncomfortable in the tent

Great tent. Have this. Been using it for 3 years. I use a tote to store it. I use a heavier duty tent stakes. Even after 3 years of use went camping for the eclipse. The night before had two thunderstorms roll through. Winds of about 25-30 mph wind gusts. Held up great no leaks. Oh I use a outdoor rug for the awning. Me and buddy of mine set this up Saturday in bout 10 min. Bing bang boom. I myself set this up by myself in about 20 min. The rainfly was difficult bc of some wind. I also use glow stick for the door zipper. This review is a bad review. Even outdoor gear review loves this tent.

What did you expect for a tent that can be purchased for $150-ish dollars? You’re very critical of features expected in this price point. You gotta go up hundreds of dollars to get what you like.

Great review! My husband and I have been using the Coleman Yarborough 6 person (basically the same style) for the past 4 years in IL/WI. We definitely seam sealed it with a spray which has got us through some major down pours and storms. BUT after most rain we inevitably still wake up to a couple small puddles under those zip up windows on the sides. The door has always been the 2nd biggest pain for this tent. Another issue we'd sometimes run into is when the ground is not completely level it throws everything off with such a large footprint, so I can't imagine an even bigger footprint like this one. Over all it held up until last week when one of the fiberglass polls broke, so it's time to retire it and look for a new tent. Thank you for the review, and all your videos are great! I love that you're in the Midwest like me, and test out some of the cheaper gear which can sometimes be the best gear.

When I think of Coleman anything , I think of Walmart . But I like everyone else have bought a few items from Coleman and a few were great
like their one burner gas stove and their two wick gas lantern . And for the guy that takes the family out two or three weekends a year it's OK.
I am a armature compared to you , that being said I hate having to break camp after that once in a while rain storm , meaning you have to make
camp in your backyard when you get home . I'm exploring a new way of camping . I love over landing and have had many 4X4's over the years
but I'm 66 years old and have began to tone down both my camping and off roading a bit . That brings us to our new 2024 Outback and a new
kind of camping for this old guy , SUV tent camping . The tent never touches the ground so there's no mud or grass to wash off you just let it dry.
Almost everyone has a large or small SUV of some type and there are a lot to choose from but I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject
. I have done a lot of reading on them and still don't get the tough questions like you cover answered . I have already bought one and it was cheap
compared to a good tent , I bought a cheap one just to see if it was worth putting any real money into a better one , , , but which one . There's no
usable info out there at least for one you will be using every other weekend no matter the weather . And as you have said many times (why I love
your channel) the most expensive is not always the best . In your spare time (lol like any of us have much of that) maybe you could reach out to
some of the companies , the ones you like for the best most important reasons and pass on your concussions in a video . I bought a air mattress
that's made from the kind of material a Avon raft is made of made to fit the back of the Outback . If there is a SUV tent made with that kind of
    quality I material😁😁

    • @LoneCrowAdventures
      @LoneCrowAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'd love an SUV tent. I've got a jeep that would be sooo awesome. I agree testing down in wet conditions to have to set up again at home is awful!

I know of some homeless people who he a new Coleman tent at the beginning of the summer and make it last until they go back to Las Vegas in the winter. This is the small size and they put it up once and throw it away at the end of the summer.
I don't know if anyone else that does this

This is true however, a lot people go a set up the campsite before everyone else joins them. Like when spouses get off work at different times for instance.

The windy part reminds me of the time my mom was in an ice fishing shack that got blown quite a ways across the lake.
That Christmas I bought my parents some expandable stakes for the shack. You dig a partial hole with the auger stick them down into the whole and they expand and spikes stick into the holes.

    A few unfair criticisms..
Example: Door CAN easily be kept open. She even showed how. So why critique a otherwise good self close feature? 🤦🏻‍♂️
Also, it's not the tents fault she is so short, or wishes to erect it ALONE 🤦🏻‍♂️
ALSO, although is says 8 man.. rarely does that mean 8 MEN, or 8 ADULTS, that actually will be sleeping side by side. No, so why critique the layout by talking of 8 whatever stepping all over each other when in real life, 4, 5 maybe 6 persons will be sharing the space? 🤦🏻‍♂️
Yes there are some NEGATIVES, maybe big ones... But no way was she being fair! No way!

Colemans that they sell in the U.S sucks. Now, the ones in Japan it's a different story. They dont use fiberglass poles. They use DAC aluminum. Its more money but for far better well thought tents instead of these American style Coleman tents.
