Thanks! Son was changing shocks on his 2012 yesterday, today limp mode no check engine light. Ran into your video, sent to him, he bumped filter housing with long extension...was loose like yours. Runs great, thanks.
MIL never came on. Definitely in limp mode. Truck did this several times before deciding to sell it to Carvana. Truck had other issues of old age so decided to sell for reliability. Ended up finding a dealership selling it for more than double what I sold it to Carvana for. Doubt they fixed the limp mode issue. I think it might have been a boost leak but am unsure.
I have a 2006 that did the same thing. I was thinking fuel filter (I have 11% remaining). The MAF will certainly be something I check. Thanks for the tip!
You can basically speed shift while in limp mode, let off right at about 2k and let her shift then eeze back onto peddle... can get up to 65mph like this if no hills or big load....
Unfortunately I found this out after the 2nd or 3rd time this truck went into limp mode. It goes, but not fast (almost no acceleration like you say). Ended up selling the truck to Carvana and buying L5P. Too many issues with the LBZ.
Didn't have that problem yet just driving and stop and then not starting happened twice first time brakes plus replaced the fuel pump. Only got us home and then it died and would not start again.
Oil change every 5K Fuel filter change every 10K Air filter change every 10K Any other oil and filter every 25K 06 LBZ here with 330 000, original turbo, original injectors, original CP3 pump, same with transmission Maintained, Thank me later! Cheers!
Hey, I saw one of your Vlogs on weed trimmer heads, would you recommend a speed head for the FS 56 Stihl, I've got the same kind as yourself, thank you
Is your truck in limp mode? Check engine light on? Easiest way to tell is if you hit the gas and it won’t go above 2,000 rpm. If that is the case you need to check the codes and figure out what is causing it to go into limp mode. For me it was the air fuel ratio. I also think I had a boost leak in addition to the intake boot coming apart which caused future issues.
Im having this issue as well i posted a video and then came across yours. Did it do fine until up to operating temp? Im not getting any check engine light but same issue.
Howdy. Zip here. Me and my grandfather have twin ‘02 2500HD with LB7 and Allison 1000 4WD. Him and my uncle bought them brand new in 01, now I’ve got the one. Anywho, mine has very similar issues as this I have changed filters MAF, battery wiring, sending unit all the small things but it still has 0 balls and when CEL comes on it gets 10x worse, still gets up to 100km (60 mph) with light throttle to shift but. Haven’t been able to figure it out and I think it’s the transmission. Wondering if you’ve had similar issues or any solutions lol.
@@420dredog i use to have a 01 duramax back in the day with an efi programer. The trucks trans would go into limp mode when i put my foot in it. What is the code reading? My issue feels similar to that but no engine light. Im going to put a race plug in it and see if that fixes it. I believe the fuel pressure is getting cut off on mine.

Glad to hear!
Fuel filter for sure mine did the same thing changed it and it fixed the problem

I changed the fuel filter every other oil change. I found that was the problem.
@@ThriftyGaragedoes that mean that it wasn’t the intake boot off? problem came back?
Your fuel is about empty too 🤷♂️😂
There is something like 80+ reasons it can go into limp mode.
Hey you popped up on an add for those indestructible shoes you tested. Nice work
Really!?! That’s crazy!

Yeah, it was really getting the codes read that turned me onto the issue. If only I would have simply checked under the hood!

@@ThriftyGarageif you sold a lbz to carvana your a fuckin idiot🤣🤣🤣
So what did it end up being?
Intake boot came disconnected.

Diesels don’t have an actual fuel pump, they are all injection pump and staying primed. Unless installing an aftermarket lift pump

Yes, speed feed head is an excellent upgrade for the 56 and 94R. We have used both.
@@ThriftyGarage Thank you for replying!
Does anyone know about a 2002 duramax manual,? Every time I go for 2nd 3rd and up gears, it loose power and stays at 2000 rpm

@@ThriftyGaragehow did you find out it was your a/f ratio
@@bradytaheri1310 air fuel ratio is a common denominator in limp mode for these trucks.
