Amazing work, very well explained!
Such an amazing explanation. Sir i learn alot from your videos. Thank u for uploading knowledgeable content
That's very informative video. Keep posting videos like this. Thumbs up
Very useful, look forward to the next video
Thank you sir for such an amazing and simple way of explaning things, you're doing great job
Thanks for this amazing video sir, I had learnt a lot from this about sprinkler design.
Amazing video sir. Keep posting more videos. Thanks
Great video pls keep doing more videos on plumbing and fire
These are great videos and content
Great work
Hi, does little q represent the flowrate going to branch 105-108. Also did we omit the pressure loss in branch 105-108 when taking into account the total pressure loss of the system? @MEP Engineering Tutorials
Hi...shouldn't you have added the pressure dut to elevation in Step 4? I though the pipe was going down..is it going up from tee to branch line?
Thanks sir this is great video and job. I want to ask a question, in this video there are sprinkler only in one side of cross main if there are sprinkler in two side of cross main, how could we calculate the flow in riser from cross main to both side branch line, can we double it or there is other way
Good and very useful thank you please make a toturial on fire fighting and plumbing boq(bill of quantity)thnks.
wow great video tuts. by the way if im not mistaken there is always a fitting to heads when using pendent type and Tee when upright right? so its not consider in hydraulic calculation?
Hi Sir.
Should we consider the ITC in sizing of branch pipes? What if a branchline serves 2 sprinkler heads and the ITC (Inspector's Test Connection)? Should the size of the pipe 32 mm or 25mm only?
Good and informative video
I need this excel sheet
From the most remote area which has been considered in this calculation to the supply source the pipe size will be varying. But here its considered 2" pipe line till the source of supply. Can you explain.
Hi, say if the room has double layer sprinkler (one upright inside ceiling, one pendant sprinkler) within the area of operation, do you consider both layer points in the calculation?
no , it is assumed that only one will operate
Hi why there is no fittings considered during calculation on branchlines sprinkler heads? Thanks for the answer.
Thanks for this amazing lecture, I observe that you said no fittings between 101 and 102 sprinklers, if I may ask what about the elbow at 101 to which the sprinkler head is connected and the tee at 102?
There's always a connecting fitting it's omitted because it's not an additional flow piece.
@@rugger3buffalo what do you mean? If I may ask also, He changes the pipe size and didn't include any fittings like bell reducer from 1 in pipe to 1&1/4 in pipe. There is a pressure loss there right?
Thanks Man, It was so informative. In 1T>104 it seems you missed an elbow.
yes
I also notice that. But how about the fittings for changing the pipe size? fittings like bell reducer for 1in to 1&1/4 in pipe. There is a pressure drop/loss there.
Could you explain me why put value minus for Pe?
Sir is that last equation of the Discharge(q- adjust) is used for finding flow in the feed main ?
Also waiting for this to get answered. But I think that's the total for that branch as I interpreted it.
May I know why you subtracted the pressure loss due to elevation ?
Nice Video... Thanks, please share sheet and hydraulic calculator

hi dear how to know for a building need sprinkler system plus hose real system, like is there any technical details for that exp i want to design an office building or residential apartment of sprinkler 120 each per floor, it is a G plus 6 floor building how to design that, can u help me out.
Hi
Thanks for the video
How to continue the calculations if it is a large project (for eg we are calculating for 1000 sprinkilers in one big production plant)
@Guiller Fernandez pls can you help me
I have 2 3 doubts to clarify
Good day. I have requested for the excel sheet particularly for this design. I have already paid for a membership. Thank you
Hi. I will get back to you today. Thanks for being a member
Please explain to sprinkler pipe installation methods and difference between to looping system and grid system.
Sure I will make a separate video for this
A loop you can still do on a worksheet, have to add in a hardycross routine but a grid you need a program.
Hi loved this video, and also i have subscribed, bro can you sent that xl format sheet???

Hello should it be the conversion 3ft *0.444psi/ft ??
psi = .43333 x h (ft)
p = rgh = wh
psf = 62.4 lbs/sq.ft x height (ft) ,
psi = 62.4/144 x height (ft)
How do you get 155 gpm/ft2?
👌👌
Will the required pressure from the fire hose cabinet be added to the final pressure?
Yes we need to add that pressure too in final calculation
if you're talking about the inside hose allowance. as per nfpa there's no need to add the pressure for that because there was no design pressure for hose allowances
@@ben-hurrocillo1645 Yup, read that from somewhere before. I just don't get why some designers add it to their final pressure and wanted some confirmation.
@@josefmadrona3606 NFPA states that the hose allowances doesn't need pressure.

Yeah sure
The amount of properties I've been at that are actually light hazard is less than 15. Light Hazard is a rarity.
hi sir can i get the excel sheet for fire hydrolic calculation
how did you take 155 ft2 area for each sprinkler? where is the reference in NFPA? can you explain? @MEP Engineering Tutorials ?
NFPA 13 in the chapter on hydraulic calculation from what I remember they have a figure indicating that the area is the distance between sprinkler heads times the distance between branchline, and extra requirement to take into account the distance to the wall. But if the distance to the wall times twice the distance on the branchline or sprinkler head spacing then you need to use two time the distance to the wall. You need to check the area for each prinkler head. The 3rd sprinkler head on the branch line has a spacing of 10.5 ft between the heads x 10 ft spacing between the branchline = 155 sq.ft.
I have not watched the video in detail but what I have done is look for the sprinkler head with the largest area and use that for my end head sprinkler condition. Otherwise I have to caluated the area for each head and mulitiple it by the density and calculate the minium flow at each each, then check each head in the hydraulic calculation and verify it with the minimum flow. Hydraulic calculations can be very time consuming so I'm looking for short cuts since you will have to make mulitiple calculations anyway. The extra pressure at the head I see it as a safety factor incase any error should arrive later, so I can go back later and reduce the starting pressure and minimize the changes. There are so many pipes and fittings making many possible sources of error, and possiable future changes. Remember later the ductwork will change and your have make extra fittings to go around it.
All the fittings dimensions were in inches which u have taken in feets, that might be a blunder...

how do we calculate the remote area for sprinklers? Here 8 nos sprinkler has been taken. Suppose if there were 20 nos of spinkler, shall we take 20 or less ? Kindy explain. Also, The area of the sprinkler is said to be 150 ft 2. I tried searching in the NFPA 13 std. but couldnt find it . Please help. Thanks
Hi sir I want speak wt u
As per standard NFPA 13 It is mentioned 225 sqft .....
225 sqft is the maximum. For the actual area you need to look at the plan and the sprinkler spacing. 10.5 ft spacing between heads x 10 ft spacing between branchline = 155 sqft.
What is main pipe level and branch pipe level . ?
I could not able to understand about negative pr.
You told 3 feet ?
This is due to difference in elevation between cross main and branch piping. And it's subtracted from total loss because cross main pipe is 3ft above than branch piping. Head gain due to change in elevation is 2.31x3ft = 6.93ft
@@MEPEngineeringTutorials I understand, the elevation gain is negative, but I think it should be 1.3psi.
As you said 1psi = 2.31ft of change in elevation. Hence, it should be (3ft)*(1psi/2.31ft) = 1.3psi.
It also anchors to the derived mathematical concept of head in change of elevation of P=0.433H. So, we will arrived to the same answer as P=0.433(3ft) = 1.3 psi.
Please confirm.

why is the distance per sprinkler not the same?
Thats how sprinkler heads layouts end up. Maybe they have a light or a diffuser where one would like to place the sprinkler head at.
