    What is the min and max residual pressure at the remotest sprinkler as per nfpa 13 ?

    • @TanweerAhmed
      @TanweerAhmed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      According to NFPA 13 the remotest sprinkler depend on the occupancy hazard classification and the sprinkler type.
      For Light Hazard Occupancies (e.g., offices, schools, retail stores), the minimum residual pressure at the remotest sprinkler is typically 7 psi (0.48 bar), and the maximum residual pressure is 20 psi (1.38 bar).
      For Ordinary Hazard Occupancies (e.g., warehouses, manufacturing facilities), the minimum residual pressure at the remotest sprinkler is typically 10 psi (0.69 bar), and the maximum residual pressure is 25 psi (1.72 bar).
      For Extra Hazard Occupancies (e.g., power plants, chemical storage), the minimum residual pressure at the remotest sprinkler is typically 20 psi (1.38 bar), and the maximum residual pressure is 50 psi (3.45 bar).

      @@TanweerAhmed my point of confusion was that no matter how big the building is, as long as the hazard category is ordinary hazard, you will end up with the same size design area and density , and because of that, you will end up with the same results for water demand and pressure.

    • @TanweerAhmed
      @TanweerAhmed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@yadali4833 Here are some conditions: 1. System protection area limitations (one floor maximum should not greater this limit then use remote area density graph and calculate flow)
      2. If system protection area limitations cross the limit then another riser added and also additional remote area density procedure adopted and to be added
      3. Residual pressure is given in NFPA 13 but we have to calculate pump head pressure.
      4. For head calculation used hydraulic calculation procedure. Examples also given NFPA 13 standard and also my video available for guidance.

      NFPA 25-1998 did require the annual fire pump flow-test for both electric-motor driven fire pumps and engine-driven fire pumps to have a 30-minute churn test at no-flow conditions to begin the test. This was to ensure the pressure relief valve opened to allow circulating water to cool the pump when operating at standby (i.e. no-flow) conditions.
