The Cameo is in a class of its own, but the Maclaren Compact KJV is my favourite these days. Got the new TN Compact Center-Column Reference KJV on order, looking forward to that arriving. Honourable mention: the TN Compact Reference KJV in the zipper enclosure-that’s a great backpack KJV, released with no fanfare from TN and deserves more attention!
I'm not a big fan of red letter Bibles, but I'm glad you've found so many nice compact Bibles with the words of Christ in red~ I'm sure there are many people who will benefit from seeing this overview.
Thanks Pastor Tim. I would add the Cambridge Clarion Reference. Just beautiful! I’ve got the goatskin ESV Clarion. Small, portable but so easy to read. Words of Christ in Black. 😊 For me the Clarion tops all compact Bibles and I understand it comes in a range of translations. ❤
Thanks for the video. Cambridge KJV Concord is my favorite. Its font is the easiest to read for me, even though it is actually fairly small. I think it is because of the font design.
Thanks for this video, helpful. The Lockman looks particularly full I believe because they've chosen not to justify the text. Which is a shame, as I'm a big single column paragraph format fan. Actually come to think of it, I think not justifying the text might be quite unusual, I can't think of another publisher who's chosen to do that. Cambridge justify the text in their Clarion series which is semi-comparable as the format is single column paragraph and also in relatively compact (albeit quick thick) dimensions. I bet if that text in the Lockman was straight down the right side of the page, it would feel way nicer and cleaner on the eyes.
I have the Cambridge Concord. I don’t know if it would be considered compact, but, it’s easy to carry. My two compacts that would fit this category are the Schuyler Personal Size Canterbury and the R.L. Allan 7C. I highly recommend the 7C as a compact Bible.
You should check out the TBS Classic Reference Bible (I have the zipped one with the thumb indexes and it’s an amazing everyday carry)! Also I think the TBS Windsor Compact Edition may be a good more affordable option
I have the ESV Compact Large Print (8 point) in the Trutone. My eyes are not the best, but I can still see it fairly well, for short reading times. I do love it but I wish these small Bibles had zippers! Is it just too difficult/cost prohibitive to make that standard? Small Bibles are meant to be taken with you. But it's hard to keep them from getting messed up in a bag/backpack. It's a double problem because it's just about impossible to find a proper fitting case for it. I've ended up keeping it in the box it came in. That would've been fine, except I got caught in the rain once. Thankfully the Bible was only very faintly damaged. But the box was messed up and only looks worse as the years go on. It will eventually come apart. I even contacted Crossway to ask if I could receive or even purchase a new box! Nope.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I feel that way about humble lamb. It’s a great bible. However, the references on the side are distracting. I like my references at the bottom out of the way.
Which one was the “thick daddy” ? I played it several times but can’t understand the publisher or which bible is which one 🥲 do you have a list you can share please? Looking for also a really good study Bible pls
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thank you Ill look, I need to have some easy-to-read one and wanted some study addition to it too and stick to the NKJV. Looks like it has bigger letters and paper. Is that right?
@@saltandlightEvieIt’s great that we have choices of cover materials these days. However there still aren’t any true “environmentally friendly” options. 🤷♂️ All the “leatherette” or fake leather options (even Cactus leather) are made from petroleum-based plastics which is far worse than natural materials such as leather. In fact, you could argue that leather is the only environmentally friendly option as it’s a by-product of other markets. (And those hides would need to be burnt or destroyed in other ways if they weren’t cured to use for leather.) 😅
I really like the Cambridge Cameo and Cambridge Clarion, but Cambridge Pitt Minions are definitely my favorite compact Bibles. I just wish I had younger eyes!@@anickelsworthbiblereviews
The granddaddy of all compacts: Cambridge Cameo.
The NLT form factor and 10-point font are unbeatable IMO. I bought one for my daughter (indexed). I wish there were comparable Bibles in CSB and NKJV
It is a great layout, but the poetic settings are a bit of a weakness.

Awesome video. Shopping for mine and my brothers first bible. Thank you for taking the time to make this for people :)
CSB Single-Column Compact is also amazing for single-column format very readable in a compact size. More readable than 8-point comfort print I think.
Very nice Tim..I like
NIV LP Compact
PSQ
ALPHA and
NLT Giant Print Compact

It’s nice. No doubt.
I have the same British Tan PSQ and it is my favourite all round most readable, portable, and comfortable one to hold.
As a fan of single column paragraph, Lockman Large Print Compact is my favorite
Thanks for mentioning the PSQ is really a compact. I wish Schuyler actually made a true "personal" sized bible.
The market is wide open for them.
Agree! If Schuyler produced one that was in between the PSQ and the Quentel! It would be amazing.
I really like the Thomas Nelson Nkjv compact single column reference in leather. Good bang for your buck, with great paper for the price.

Cambridge Cameo is the best small enough to tote around in my purse.

Love these overviews. Thanks!
Thank you, Brother Tim 🌹⭐🌹
Tim, christian art publishers also have KJV LP Compact with 10 point font, that is also nice Tim..
I really like the Humble Lamb

I actually like the lockman single column. It’s one of my favorites
I don’t hate it, but it’s a lot of text on a page.

You can't have missed the NLT slimline center column reference edition 😳😂 🥰 ("large print compact")
Meh.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews 🤣
ESV Alpha Crossway or bufallo comfort print is what i narrowed it down to. I will decide march 15th wich one ill go with
Now I wish I'd bought the Alpha when it was going for around £90!
I like the large print NLT ... where could I purchase one ?
Tyndale sells lots of them.
would be very helpful for you to tell us more info to make buying one we would like much simpler
I’ve reviewed all these.
Will you do a separate video about the "LSB compact edition", since it came out shortly after your video went live?
Yes. I should have one soon.
It’s too bad you made this shortly before the LSB Compact becomes available. Would love to see it in the lineup
Yeah, I was in a time squeeze because of a couple of these are borrowed. Had to fire my shot.
This is your best video yet. “The words of Christ are in rEeEed!” 😂🤣
Ha ha!
You didn't mention the publisher of the NKJV/KJV Center Column Compacts.
Thomas Nelson.
So lucky for all of yalls to afford stuff like this,
If it weren’t for TH-cam…
Mr Nickels I am cracking up on how you sing red will be expecting in every video with red lettering going forward 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣

The really thick one was the Humble Lamb History.

oh no, I see they are all leather :( looks so beautiful though thank you for the reviews. Ill see if they have non animal skin ones

how much do they charge to rebound the nlt giant print? 10 pt is insane
Depends on what options you choose and who you use.
Cambridge Clarion!
It’s nice but I like the thinness of the Pitt better.

Which Bible is this at 1:15?
NKJV Compact Reference Paragraph Style. I name it at about the 6:10 mark.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews You prefer this over the compact Maclaren?
@tjmaverick1765 I do, but the Compact Maclaren is slick too. I like it because it matches my favorite layout.
Legacy Standard Bible Compact
Paper is terrible on that edition. And I mean AWFUL. The center line is not matched anywhere. It’s OK, but it’s not close to the top for me.
Does Tim reply?
Do I reply to what?
