Wonderful finds with the metal detector. Poor Rick delegated to the back acre in the hot sun! He's such a trooper doing so many of the odd tasks needed around the convent. Know that I appreciate you, Rick!
Your library is going to be gorgeous. I hope you install the panels so that they can be open. They could be hidden storage pockets behind the paneling. This would be awesome for old books and library stuff that is not showing. Could also be storage areas for cleaning equipment and holiday decoration and much more . Such a waste to not use the areas behind the paneling.
The moment I saw that today's video was ready, I felt such JOY. You all mean a lot to me. I am an old lady, in Southern California. Each of you on Team Petherick has a place in my heart. I feel as if I know each of you, a little bit. And so happy to also now follow The Moons, Life of Ryan, Alex the Cameraman. I hope we get to see the progress on Simon's house soon, too. Blessings.
Hi Pam, I am an old lady in Northern California - nice to meet you! You might also enjoy Doing It Ourselves, which is Michael Petherick’s vlog. I follow all the ones you do, too. Plus I follow Chateau Diaries (her mother is in her 80s and just got married for the second time 3 yrs ago. She is a little French lady gardener) and many more! It is addicting to live vicariously through these people but a lot of fun, too. Enjoy! Diane
I don't know what is old but I'm a grandmother in Southern California too. I feel the same way! I hope to take my grandson who is learning French on a trip in a year or so to France. Hope we can go see some of these folks.
Rick is a top rated employee from what I've seen! He reminds me of my younger self. A hard-working, competent employee is difficult to find. Kudos to Rick!
I Love it that all of these epic men are so happy, pleasant, hardworking and handsome. Every one of them. Wish I was with them. I as an old Grandma could make them coffee, cold drinks and lunch everyday and sweep, dust and clean at the same time. I appreciate how they always keep the work areas tidy. ❤️❤️❤️
That poem must have been taught to classes of Mick's era across the then British empire as my similar vintage Dad here in Australia often used to quote snippets of it like this opening line.
Honestly, some of my favorite things in these videos are the driving scenes through the countryside along with the drones shots of the convent and surrounding village. The garden appears to be a bit of treasure trove.
Under the spreading chestnut tree…the village smithy stands, the smith a mighty man is he with large and sinewy hands, and the muscles of his brawny arms as strong as iron bands. 😄 A little Longfellow’s poetry from Mick?
Pop has got the right idea! A well oiled machine keeps things running smoothly. The Pethericks are just that, a well oiled machine. Love ALL the family vlogs ❤ Thanks for sharing 😍🤩
LOVING the metal detecting! You ought to do that a little every day. Every inch needs to be checked. There's tons of great finds yet to be found. Thanks for showing us!
Rick is a real trooper working out in that heat 😫 Simon & Yanis finishing up the ceiling…. Some great finds with Simon doing metal detecting today too !! But we DO miss Billy too 😘❤
The recorder should go back upstairs because that's where it seems must of the activity has been and where Phillip saw the shadow when he was looking after the convent. Great job on the ceiling, guys!
It's great that the recorder hasn't picked anything up! Didn't Billy start this recording for security reasons? It looked like someone was living in the attic, right? That shows no one is trespassing now, hopefully!! The garden is looking nice! AMAZING finds Simon!!
What amazing history to be found here! Simon, Yanis, Rick, Mick, Alex, and Billy you all are amazing and you should be so proud of all the work you are doing and the life you are bringing back to such a glorious building. Take care and be safe! You're always in our prayers🙏
Awesome finds with metal detecting. Yanis, you and Simon can now buy your own Chateaux. I won't tell Billy, LOL!😂 Mick and Rick, great jobs. Mick can lift that bag of plaster easy for his age. I am 64 but can't do that anymore. Lela is a sweetheart.❤
I work at brico. Your plaster is out is date. This can cause adhesive problems. You should return it. It is not the production date. On the side of the package, it is the expiration date.
Cracking job today, gentlemen! Love seeing things worn by these nuns such a long time ago. I’m sure the woman who lost that silver cross missed it very much. Glad you found it.
I’d put the tablet in the kitchen because people have heard voices and seen people in there. Also, back to the room with the writing on the wall, you got a lot in there. I’d keep the tablet on the third floor because it’s the spookiest place in the convent.
Hi everyone, great video. Items were detected. Nice finds Simon. In regards to where to put the recorder, how about that top floor staircase, the one Billy doesn’t like going to by himself. I believe he has recorded doors opening and closing by themselves. Hey Billy hope you and your family are enjoying your holiday away. Thanks guys. Joyce❤️🙏🇺🇸
Brilliant finds with the metal detector✝️ Next time you have the drone up Alex please could you do an aerial shot of the garden now more has been cleared. I’d be interested to see a property line of the convent, thanks😊
Simon you're a great presenter 😊 nice to see and hear more from Rick and nice to see Duncan again. Enjoy seeing you too Alex and always great to see Yanis and Mick. Missing Billy boy but glad he's having family time.
A bit of adventure for the boyz and a few precious artifacts found...what beautiful grounds, thanks Mick and Rick for the yard work to make it all more visible and easier access...cheers kids...!
Alex, your intros are wonderful. Love the drone footage and your choice of music. So enjoy watching The Pethericks, keep them coming! From Moses Lake Washington, USA
Lovely finds today. Hopefully they will be put on display in the library. When you look at the size of the garden, it becomes apparant just how much hard work Mick has put in. Rick has also strimmed the end bit several times. 🙂
The metal detecting was very successful. There were so many metals that were worn by the nuns. The crucifexes are lovely. The small statue is a great find. You should be very proud of yourselves. How is your house coming, Simon? Are you getting anything done in your house? I hope so. The best to all of you!
Nice finds, what else to expect at a convent, that’s that old. A fun video. I was thinking how about putting the recorder in the apartment that Ryan was renovating .
Forward progress while Billy is away! Plaster I hand for the ceiling, digger all greased, ceiling done ready for plaster, treasures found, and I nice Yanis send off! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
You found the crucifix of a rosary. When something has been blessed, you don't take it to the dump you bury it in the garden. Great work on the ceiling!
Oh, my! 😂😂😂 I binge read novels, prefer the setting to be the British Isles. Glad I wasn't eating brunch, yet, when Duncan said, "Dangly bits." 😂😂😂 I might have choked from laughter. Wonderful.
Alex - can you give an aerial view of the convent, and draw lines, and identify the parts of the property, and the property lines, etc? Thanks! That will be so helpful!
For future after hour recordings, go back to the spots where you picked up the "bangs", then try to re-create them. Maybe slam some doors. Different doors may make different sounds? Love what you are doing with the restoration. Such amazing talent!
Great show. Thank you Simon, Yanis, Mick, Rick and Duncan. I always learn new things watching. I appreciate hearing the details and history. The metal detector looks like fun. Love the treasures you found!
There is that room in the back of the chapel that used to be accessed by a staircase which is gone. I think the room has a hole in the floor. The only way to access it is by a ladder. Or leave it in the old refectory, that is where the sister's socialized or the staircase on the second or third floor where the door always slams
Just love these vids and so happy to see Simon, Alex and Duncan back. The interactions between them all is a joy to watch...I have a soft spot for Yanis and the way Simon, Rick and Mick mentor him. He's turned out to be such a hard worker and so willing to do anything asked. On the other note...perhaps Team Petherick has already tried this location for the sound recordings, but I was thinking the stairwell in the apartment complex where the fire was. Maybe go back to previous locations where there was unexplained knocking etc. and see if there is any more activity.
The metal detecting is an important part of revealing the history of the convent and preserving it, as those little finds will deteriorate or be lost to gardening or development. It also makes for a great treasure hunt!
The dog should guide you where to place the recorder. He doesn’t seem to be afraid or sense anything sinister at the convent. He doesn’t bark at empty spaces or chase anything, just calmly follows around. An animal is the best detector of bad energy or spirits.
Yannis's English is coming along great! Loved the metal detecting and really pleased that you found so many gorgeous items. More videos like this please.
Great finds today. Disappointing with the sound recorder. I think you should try the sound recorder on a stair case. Ceiling finished, prep work done, supplies stocked, maintenance done, Electrics going in and plastering about to start. Billy will be very happy.
It was a practice to bury twice blessed crosses to ward off evil. Commonly buried on the four outside corners of a home & one put inside the home. I'm curious if there could be crosses around the parameter of the convent, too.
One of those metal detecting finds oozed like a Pilgrim token because it had the sea shell on it, which are common symbols used to mark pilgrimage pathways.
The detecting aspect takes me back to my archaeology days in college at Middle Tennessee State University. We would walk fields that had been turned when in the search grid. Looking for concentrations of artifacts to determine further digging. Great times back in the 80's. Blessed Be from Tennessee. )O(
It might be interesting to make a note of the sounds previously recorded, then revist some of the previous recording locations with the recorder to see if the previous results were merely coincidental. A bit of a fun experiment in other words.
Yanis, you are an impressive co-host to Simon! Nice finds today, great content in breaking with the construction to see what else goes on at the Convent. Rick, your gardening skills are impeccable, and I could use your help, lol. Alex, love the up close shots. Hope you all have a wonderful evening. Cheers from Canada! BTW, please put the voice recorder in the chapel on the organ, it may surprise us all!
I think I remember a video where a space in the building was pointed out as a place where caskets were lifted by a pulley system to a room where caskets were then set for funeral services. I would like an interview on Simon to learn more about him like you did with Yannis.
Great idea, and Rick.
And mick @@kaceesavage
Or maybe Simon should remain a mystery man❤
Might just want to use your imagination, girls! 😂
@@Historian50 YES!!! Would love that! And also an update on his home.
Yes a Simon special. 👍

We won’t tell Billy that you are splitting the funds to buy two Porches and going on holiday 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Great post!! Love all the different content.

Mick's reference " Under the spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands." Great!
That poem must have been taught to classes of Mick's era across the then British empire as my similar vintage Dad here in Australia often used to quote snippets of it like this opening line.
Would love to see a drone shot of the garden to help understand the layout better.
Honestly, some of my favorite things in these videos are the driving scenes through the countryside along with the drones shots of the convent and surrounding village. The garden appears to be a bit of treasure trove.
i love the look of that town.
Under the spreading chestnut tree…the village smithy stands, the smith a mighty man is he with large and sinewy hands, and the muscles of his brawny arms as strong as iron bands. 😄 A little Longfellow’s poetry from Mick?

More detecting is needed. The grounds must be full of little treasures, just waiting for someone to find them. Nice job. Team P.😊🏴
Beautiful finds with the metal detector. Thank you for sharing the day.
Leyla loves her adventurous life and all her extra loving from new friends.
Rick is a real trooper working out in that heat 😫
Simon & Yanis finishing up the ceiling…. Some great finds with Simon doing metal detecting today too !!
But we DO miss Billy too 😘❤
Mick is doing well clearing the garden. That would make an amazing wildflower meadow with mown paths through it to keep the garden accessible.
Today end pose 9/10😊 - Yanis and Simon comfortably seated (for once) show and tell of todays “treasure hunt”👍 Enjoyed the intro and outro by Yanis👍
The recorder should go back upstairs because that's where it seems must of the activity has been and where Phillip saw the shadow when he was looking after the convent. Great job on the ceiling, guys!
A Porsche each for Simon and Yanis and a Riviera holiday, love it! The crucifixes and other finds were wonderful.

I am glad there were no screams recorded in that room …Sadie would not probably not do any more Renovations and stay at the chateau!!!
Billy who?
😂 just kidding, Billy, we all miss you! The boys are doing a fine job, crackin' on!
Billy Who? He's the bloke that pays the $$$$, so he is really important so lets CRack On!
All the things you find left behind inside and out in this renovation would make a great framed display for the library once it's completed.
Simon is so excited to metal detect. It’s so cute.😂

In time, a few large truckloads of composted mellow manure would do wonders in that garden. Garden on!
The metal detecting is an important part of revealing the history of the convent and preserving it, as those little finds will deteriorate or be lost to gardening or development. It also makes for a great treasure hunt!
At 13:21, Billy's dad is a NY Yankees fan. Nice. Someone should send him a Boston Red Sox or Chicago Cubs ballcap.
Lots going on! Detecting very successful👏👏👌👌

You are such a lovely team! I enjoy your interaction! Alex doing a great job asking questions, it’s such a pleasure watching you guys! ❤
👏Alex is asking all the right questions 👍 the noise of the detector reminds me of a children’s programme when I was a child about living on on moon .

Keep metal detecting!! It’s fascinating 😮😊 put these on display in the new library.
You guys are amazing!Such enthusiasm and hard working .
Your finds look amazing. Well done
Can we please have an interview with Simon?
It is customary to barrier sacramentals and blessed items. Take care of them as they were put in the ground for a reason I would guess.
It was a practice to bury twice blessed crosses to ward off evil. Commonly buried on the four outside corners of a home & one put inside the home. I'm curious if there could be crosses around the parameter of the convent, too.
Is it known if the nuns had a cemetery or crypt on the property?
One of those metal detecting finds oozed like a Pilgrim token because it had the sea shell on it, which are common symbols used to mark pilgrimage pathways.
The detecting aspect takes me back to my archaeology days in college at Middle Tennessee State University. We would walk fields that had been turned when in the search grid. Looking for concentrations of artifacts to determine further digging. Great times back in the 80's.

When a religious blessed item breaks or is unusable, you must bury it .
Yes a sit down and formal in- depth session with Simon is a brilliant idea.🤩
I really enjoy you guys! All of you men are kind, considerate of each other and very hatd workers!
Loved see the finds. Thanks for sharing!
It would be nice to see these finds displayed in glass cabinets in the foyer to the convent as you would see in a museum with descriptive labels 😊.
The 14 crosses represent the 14 Stations of the Cross devotional .
Totally enjoy these gentlemen helping with the filming!!
I think the spirits have all left, content that the convent is being restored in a way that brings back its soul!
