    I did it on my motorcycle July 4th last year, first time and was by myself because my buddies couldn’t make it. I’ll tell ya, it was definitely an adrenaline rush, coming down to me was much more fun because I knew what to expect. Not gonna lie, on the way up I was only about 2 miles in and was having some second thoughts as there were 58mph gusts (they shut the road down to motorcycles at 60mph gusts) but I had ridden 4hrs to get there that day and decided I wasn’t leaving without experiencing it. I’m happy I did!! And I’m psyched to do it again this year. Hopefully my wife will go with as well, it’s a hell of a ride with unreal scenery, especially on the bike feeling the temp change in real time on the way up, it was about 65 at the base and about 35 at the summit when I went. Woooooo!!!

      i know exactly what you meant here. I had to stop in the middle of driving, luckily the car did not drag back itself but it is too scary while going up. But it is a life time experience, you can't get that feeling unless you do it by yourself. Mt. Washington toll road, definitely one should try it if they love adventure. Even Hiking to Mt. Washington during winter is kind of same. Thanks for your very genuine and valuable comment. Keep traveling Have fun and safe travel.

      Hi what do you mean by they shut the road down to 60 mph guests? I'm planning on taking my bike there but worried it might be closed.

    • @69Busa08Nova
      @69Busa08Nova ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thumpertorque_ The crew won’t allow motorcycles up if the wind is gusting at 60+ mph. I called multiple times that day while heading that direction and they were always very polite to give me info. Just check the weather before going and you’ll be fine.

    Just did this today. Made it to 7:11 on this video. Wife panicking and kid crying plus in the clouds, couldn’t see. With a minivan. The clouds blocked all the scenery but also blocked the fearful drop. Don’t know how there are NOT more accidents.

    We just climbed Mt Washington the other day. It was a beautiful sunny day for about the first three miles. Then the fog took over and we had "pea soup" all the way up to the summit. What an amazing drive! Our new F150 was an absolute joy to drive on this excursion. We had taken the cog railway train up to the summit about 40 years earlier on a clear day. That was a big thrill.

      Summit of Mt. Washington is simply beautiful and thrilling which ever way we go. Temp changes drastically within a minute, we did the hike to the summit via cog rail way too 2 years back during the winter, it was super challenging but at the same time driving is a thrill!! Keep Traveling ...

      As per the latest news , mt Washington already got the snow at the summit . It’s should be beautiful at the summit or even on the way due to fall color. No matter , summer is the best time to drive up but I would say check the weather and very unpredictable at the summit. This time of the year would be awesome if you enjoy the fall color

    Did it in 2010 in a 1964 Chevy II, 230 six cylinder, powerglide transmission, a single piston master cylinder and four wheel drum brakes. Going up was OK, coming down was not, had to stop twice to let the brakes stop smoking.

    I drove that auto road back in 1974 when I lived in New England.

    steep!

      Check the price now.... fall of 2024. Its $ 45 for just the driver and $20 for each additional passenger older than a toddler. SO $100 for a family of 4...... TO DRIVE YOURSELF.

    • @Mike-Twins-lover-d2h
      @Mike-Twins-lover-d2h 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's way too much, even if you allow for inflation.
      The $5 I paid in '74, is about $30 now. So at $45 that's
      a 50% price hike. Thanks for the input.@@davids.9834

      I didn’t see any check on the type of car. As long as you are confident you should be good , but I would suggest you to try half way up to 4 miles and decide from there . When I was there first time, I literally saw smoke coming out from the front brake

      We went up three times years ago. The first two times were fine but the third time we were in a Jeep which is higher up so you can see the drop off easier. The first half of the road is fine until there are no railings or trees. The road seem more narrow than the other two times we went. Needless to say, this drive is the reason why my husband and I are now terrified to drive on mountain steep roads with cliffs
