  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

As a teenager our family summited Mt. Washington on all three modes of transport; auto road, hiking and cog railway. My Dad and I hiked the AT and stayed in the Presidential Range huts. Stared off in the Dolly Copp campground and spent a week on the summits. I am 63 and I’ll never forget that trip.

I really enjoyed this! My husband and I drove this road 2 times in the past. The road has definitely improved now. Back then, there were a few sections of dirt road that was crumbling away and super scary to pass a vehicle. With my husbands driving, I was terrified! lol! I have to say....just watching this video gave me anxiety again! I hate heights, but it was so worth it! It is beautiful!! Thanks for taking me back to Mt. Washington while in the safety of my home!! Also....I'm glad to see that they still at least give you a bumper sticker! They also used to give you a CD to play on the way up explaining the history of Mt. Washington.

I'm a 3-time visitor to the summit of Mt. Washington, twice by auto and once by Cog Railway. The first auto trip was with my dad in the early 60's as a passenger in his 1960 VW Beatle. The aircooled engine meant never having to worry about overheating! The second auto trip in the early 70's was a bit more of an adventure. Driving my future wife, my brakes faded on the trip down. The only way I was able to stop was by rolling up a short incline at a turnout on the opposite side of the road. The two German hikers we had given a ride to probably wished they hiked down instead!

Thanks for the tour! This time of the year is beautiful. Probably getting even more beautiful with the autumn progressing. I would love to get the comments from your grandpa!
I could imagine my ears popping with the elevation. I'm living in a pancake country on the sea shore. I get ear popping with just 50 meters (164 feet) or less of elevation change.
I can't imagine using only first gear decending this road. My tiny 1,3 metric tonne car has a 77kW gasoline engine with 6 gears and driving on flat at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) makes me change to 2nd gear. In European driving schools they really emphasise driving with lowest rpm as the engine can manage

Hi Post. I’ve traveled with you to walk through tunnels, culverts and even some places that were pretty claustrophobic. We’ve been hip deep in mud and beavers to clean or try to make a dent in blockages. Heck, I’ve even spent the night in a culvert with deep snow on each end. So this should have been a cinch. But because I have true fear of heights, I was really kind of glad you had only the camera pointing forward, rather than down the slopes. However, the trip back down isn’t something that I can do with you Post, especially after your phone holder broke and I thought we were taking flight. Be safe and I’ll see you on the next water adventure. The mountains, while beautiful, just aren’t for this Acrophobic. Thanks for another great video. ✌🏻🤍

Thank you for making this video of Driving Up Mt Washington, I've always wanted to do that but the anxiety is too much. Years ago my late husband and I drove down to the Hover Damn and I thought I was going to have a heart attack because of how close we were to the edge of the road, just like you driving up Mt Washington, even though I was sitting on my couch watching your video at time it made me very nervous. Being able to watch travel videos on TH-cam is great and I will check out more of your videos.

Hey, Post. I enjoyed this immensely. For me, this was like driving Upstate New York beyond the Hudson Valley and the Adirondack's. Ok, Post, I'm going to get some sleep 😴, this ride has me exhausted and I wasn't driving. 😊✌🏽

My wife and I rode the cog railway on our honeymoon 44 years ago. Back then it was only the steam locomotive. It was Labor Day week and the day we were there it was around 70 degrees. I grabbed two sweatshirts and two jackets from the car, my wife asked why and I told her just in case. When we got to the summit, it was 26 degrees, 50 mph winds and snowing heavily. There was no view whatsoever. We always intended to go back but it just never happened. Enjoyed this video immensely.

We experienced the same thing. 72 degrees at the base, in the 20s at the summit. My Dad bought us hot chocolate and it was so hot, it melted the cup.

Thank you for that beautiful trip. That will be the closest I get to going up a mountain. I enjoyed that even the parts where there is straight down a foot away from you. I enjoy your videos.

That's a magical place. In the early 1990's I was a guest at the Weather Research Station, a few weeks of exploring and learning about the history and stories, took the last ride down before they closed the road for winter. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
