my random idea is that, since we know that there are unlimited universes, why not unlimited observers? What if this one man, across all universes, is doomed to succumb to his obsession of killing an ancient god as one man, and being imprisoned and murdered by said god over and over again. It’s like a cycle, one Alion leaves, a new one enters the tower for the first time under the illusion of free will? I think it would be the most ironic fate for him, someone who is obsessed with changing the status quo and breaking the cycle, is subjected to predestined fate.
Proves how truly scary and powerful the Entity is. It knows everything, sees everything, hears everything, is everywhere, anytime and is both beginning and the end. Fight all you want, but you'll never win because in the end all roads lead back to the Entity (until the Blight Serum Came along of course and Vigo being the first to actually defy the Entity's power and rules and even escape)

its kinda cheesy, but honestly i hope that the entity starts to break in and get the new archive group, and right as theyre about to die or whatever the observer comes back and saves them. and then he just is the disgruntled drunk mentor to these new characters, aiding them as they traverse the tomes searching for answers.

I was waiting for this video since I subscribed to this channel! His story is really fascinating, I really hope that this isn't the end for the "Observer". We know he isn't only one, maybe an Observer is a role that needs to be occupied. Also, the "Observer" always reminded me about quantum physics, you know like Schrödinger's cat thing, where there needs to be an active observer to witness a state of said thing. Maybe someone needs to observe the memories of our characters in order to keep important memories while they are wiped out. Or maybe there are both present and wiped out and when an "Observer" observes, they make it, so our characters remember everything prior to the Fog. It is something that Game Outer Wilds is built on and that game is amazing. Also, as I watched till the end, I want to make a quick comment about the new PTB, I am really happy for this one new change! I am not talking about the Moris, or base kit Unbreakable, but the fact that after I don't even remember how many years they are finally using PTB to test stuff. They have never done that before, for now we were always getting a finished update, but now we are getting a new feature that is early in development and is nowhere near going to be released soon (these are developer's words). That means we can provide early feedback to make this system better sooner, rather of getting a bad change later. Isn't that amazing?
Considering the “The” title in front of The Observes name, I’d not be surprised if he became a killer someday. Maybe. I’d love to see him succumb similar to Talbot succumbing to and becoming The Blight. Considering he’s had vivid fantasies that he’s played out of murder, and has gone slowly mad, it’d make sense. Either the Auris or a 9 Iron golf club as a weapon and some bizarre hallucinatory power. It’s just a thought, but it could work. Been waiting for this video btw! I highly doubt that the armchair is the Observer's final resting place - not because it's not him or anything, but because we all know how the Entity works. Death isn't an escape. Killing him off entirely without re-using him in another capacity seems uncharacteristic for the Entity... even if he was to be discarded, it would probably be to the Void, not just left as a body in the tower. We might not see him again, either in-game or in-lore, but I don't think he's finished just because he's not on-screen anymore. That being said, if he truly did die, then I guess he got what he wanted in the end, in a grim way: a way out of the Entity's realms.
Getting the observer as a new character (even just as speculation) would be so cool and interesting IF they weren't pumping out (trash) new content all the fricking time

My theory? The observer IS the entity. The entity can peer into all time across multiple universes, it feeds on and uses emotion to manifest objects, places, and I think - people in order to not just alleviate its hunger, but I think also it's loneliness. The realm acts like a giant version of that tech the observer has and I believe the entity feeds on both hope AND despair in order to fuel it, in order to continue existing. It's all a giant loop. The observer is captured and tortured by the entity not only to get it's claws on the observer's technology, but also, so that over the course of centuries, perhaps even Millennia, it can twist it's former self into the thing it will one day become. Like a giant Mobius strip of evil.
this video was pretty goated, though at the end the mention of alion being a survivor or killer makes me think you know those translucent cthulhu looking things that were climbing his tower??? if he were to be a killer what if he ended up turning into one of those?
Genuine question; I was under the impression that the survivors knew they were dying, over and over again; having full memory of their previous torture. This constant pain, torture, and cycle of death is what causes them to loose hope. When the entity cannot feed on this hope, or emotion it casts them aside in the void as broken husks, as seen in the blights tome/ cutscene when first teased. But if their memories are lost each time they die, why do they loose hope/ emotion? Is hope as a concept almost like a finite resource to survivors? Sorry if its a dumb question, also really enjoyed the video dude!

I think similar to some genetic trauma the survivors after a while start feeling like they’ve been doing it forever even if to them it’s there first time there. Or Mabey they get like ptsd and freak out more and more each match from actions that remind there body’s of the past trials.
When i heard of the observer,i noted that his name is formatted similar to how all the killers are(ie The dredge, the shape, the huntress ect). When he went missing, my imagination imagined a dark observer killer, twisted by the entity, who takes the forms of other killers, harnessing their memories as a weapon.

However, the idea of a Lovecraft fan in the fog is interesting- He could make for a good killer down the line, perhaps, having gotten rather close to his most burning interest, or rather, too close to it.
Can you do a lore vid of Vigo sometime in the future once more tomes come out? Since he is the only one out of countless trillions from different worlds and realities to actually escape and defy the Entity. Something no one, not even the Observer or the other old gods succeeded in.
I really hope that one day they compile all the Lore and release a big horror Tome. The writers have a passion for horror and holy shit are they mostly (I haven’t forgotten about Hag) good at it. Also Tome Hype for Ghostface and For Honor Chapter!
I hope he shows up again to help oppose the entity. I’d love some perspective that changes the stakes of the trials. That our dbd matches aren’t just repeated (though fun) and pointless affairs but instead have impact on fighting the entity.
I really hope they plan on ending production at some point and bring the lore into it. We all know games can’t last forever and I hope they don’t end anytime soon, but i hope they have a plan to end the story instead of the false hope that the game will last.
A Realm consisting of memories, memories that can give shape, and those of which that relate to fear being more likely propagated and consumed. Wonder what happens if someone spends too much time in the memories of others, and not on their own.
I'd love to see the Red Crane as a survivor and one of her perks is just "press E to stab the killer's back with a katana as they pick up a survivor". Obviously there'd need to be balancing factors....but cmon, that'd be awesome XD

What about Talbot's colleague Tomas? He was pulled from the entities darkness and talked about viewing trials for years and was going mad, It sounds like he is or was an Observer.
thanks for this video, I haven't unlocked all the observer lore entries so there was some stuff I was missing! honestly I think he's gone; the corpse in the chair scene is a very Silent Hill thing for bhvr to do (at least that's what the imagery evokes in my mind) and they're probably not going to walk it back and make him playable unless they have an amazing concept for him that'd make it worth it. his end is tragic, but it fits the life he had and those before him. hope the new guys are just as compelling!

We now know that the new members of The House of Arkham are the family of the survivors. I think that as they explore the tower, they will uncover truths behind The Observer’s disappearance, and perhaps a clue as to what happened to him. My personal theory is that he has been given the Talbot Grimes and Evan MacMillan treatment, tormented until he snaps and becomes a killer. In the trailer for the new group of observers, we see him flash between different states, one of which holds a golf club and is soaked in blood. I think he could very easily be put in as a killer, using his control over the auric cells to form obstacles for survivors, with Benedict Baker as a survivor. Hell, they could even name that chapter: “Veterans of The Fog” Or something like that.
14:00 Okay, so this whole thought made me suddenly feel strangely guilty about putting a nervous man who happened to be named "Dwight" into my own story as an easter egg of sorts... Also: I think an abrupt, sudden end to the Observer's story is actually exceptionally fitting: Here he was, thinking he was outside of the Entity's grasp, somehow special and maybe even heroic, a symbol of hope, and here we were reading along thinking the same thing and, well, suddenly both he and us have that rug pulled form under us. He is not special, he is just as miserable and helpless as anyone else - which is EXACTLY (if you ask me) the most fitting feeling for DBD and lovecraftian/cosmic horror stories in general. UN-special-ness. Helplessness. Realizing that no matter what we think we can do, you literally can't outsmart or fight your way out of the grip of something that's so (multidimensionally) huge, smart, and powerful, and you were a dope to think so (and now a tasty treat seasoned with extra despair).
This might sound dumb, but what if the observer is like a brain to the entity, like the tower is the steam to the system and the observer has the thoughts or power to help the entity but doesn't know he or she is helping, the observer has the power to look threw everyone or any life past, and the entity uses this to bring the prey it needs to feed and what if they are more then one observer, like every universe the entity has corrupted has a tower, and it has a person In it doing the work, giving the entity the ability to bring anyone from anywhere to the realm. Once the observer is dead, the entity just brings another person to it or just resets everything, bringing the observer back to life to give them that fear of seeing them selfs dead. I don't know but maybe it's a idea
I think The Observer will be the FINAL DbD Killer, corrupted by the Entity to do its bidding, slaying those who he knew were forced to fight for their lives again and again.
It might be also possible that auris is malfunctioning. That group of explorers after all, found the auris and what seemed to be shaken image of the Observer as it was shown in one of the rift introductions. What if the truth is that The Observer *is* the Entity in the classic origin paradox fashion. The Observer will Succumb, and become the Entity- then essentially reach back through time to pull himself into his own dark dimension in order to ensure the coming about of his own dark existence. An infinite, neverending loop. The stories of pain, the killers and the trials, all of it exists purely so he can watch- for no reason other for him to Observe, and in that be driven to insanity and darkness. It all feeds the Entity because it serves to bring itself about, the more the suffering, the deeper the depth of his own paradoxical depravity
i don't keep up with dbd's lore like i used to, but i remember being really interested in the slow collapse of his psyche and crumbling sense of identity after god knows how long of staring into the abyss of horrible memories and the entity's own cosmic indigestion really appreciate this vid for getting me up to speed
So the six year anniversary crown that the observer sees on the side of the tower was just a portent that his story would conclude 'IN year six'? And NOT that he'd join as the anniversary killer... It might also rule Vlad the vampire 'knight' out of contention (as our OG knight) if the crown was specifically observer focused and not killer tease focused. Is there a sniff that we might actually be in the observer's epilogue phase rather than the start of a new story? There was talk about them taking a fresh approach to how the tomes / archives would go 'in the future', it feels suspicious to me that Arkham wasn't the clean slate for the new take.
If it is mentioned in the video because I’m writing this early on while watching then ignore me. But I don’t think the observer could be a playable character like a couple of comments I’ve seen have said. During the masquerade there was a body hung from the exit gates dressed exactly like the observer from the golf video. This also takes place after he had gone missing from the archives. And for anyone saying how most characters have died but are brought into the fog before, may I remind you he has to have been killed in the fog and again. An argument could be made that he can come back as death isn’t an escape. However he never moved from hanging on the gate and was there In any game during the twisted masquerade event. I'm excited to see what you'll have to say on For Honor! For Honor's lore is interesting, though they don't do much explicit story telling. It's more about a world and less about individual characters, mostly. But especially I'm excited, because while there are some For Honor lore youtubers out there, there's a few subtle alt-righty vibes that sneak through when people do long videos about knightly crusades and then say things like "I just wish Ubisoft didn't force transgender characters down our throats in Rainbow 6", you know?
Heo do survivors and killers alike then remember how to do things like generators, and anythjng else that u can think of that requires skill or knowledge on it per say, in the trial then? They’ll need some sort of knowledge or memory on what actually to do every time their memories are wiped… right ?

I think that as they explore the tower, they will uncover truths behind The Observer’s disappearance, and perhaps a clue as to what happened to him. My personal theory is that he has been given the Talbot Grimes and Evan MacMillan treatment, tormented until he snaps and becomes a killer. In the trailer for the new group of observers, we see him flash between different states, one of which holds a golf club and is soaked in blood. I think he could very easily be put in as a killer, using his control over the auric cells to form obstacles for survivors, with Benedict Baker as a survivor. Hell, they could even name that chapter: “Veterans of The Fog”
Or something like that.
I hope some day we get the Observer as a playable character, he is just so fascinating as a character
14:00 Okay, so this whole thought made me suddenly feel strangely guilty about putting a nervous man who happened to be named "Dwight" into my own story as an easter egg of sorts...
Also: I think an abrupt, sudden end to the Observer's story is actually exceptionally fitting: Here he was, thinking he was outside of the Entity's grasp, somehow special and maybe even heroic, a symbol of hope, and here we were reading along thinking the same thing and, well, suddenly both he and us have that rug pulled form under us. He is not special, he is just as miserable and helpless as anyone else - which is EXACTLY (if you ask me) the most fitting feeling for DBD and lovecraftian/cosmic horror stories in general. UN-special-ness. Helplessness. Realizing that no matter what we think we can do, you literally can't outsmart or fight your way out of the grip of something that's so (multidimensionally) huge, smart, and powerful, and you were a dope to think so (and now a tasty treat seasoned with extra despair).

This might sound dumb, but what if the observer is like a brain to the entity, like the tower is the steam to the system and the observer has the thoughts or power to help the entity but doesn't know he or she is helping, the observer has the power to look threw everyone or any life past, and the entity uses this to bring the prey it needs to feed and what if they are more then one observer, like every universe the entity has corrupted has a tower, and it has a person In it doing the work, giving the entity the ability to bring anyone from anywhere to the realm. Once the observer is dead, the entity just brings another person to it or just resets everything, bringing the observer back to life to give them that fear of seeing them selfs dead.
I don't know but maybe it's a idea

I think The Observer will be the FINAL DbD Killer, corrupted by the Entity to do its bidding, slaying those who he knew were forced to fight for their lives again and again.
It might be also possible that auris is malfunctioning. That group of explorers after all, found the auris and what seemed to be shaken image of the Observer as it was shown in one of the rift introductions. What if the truth is that The Observer *is* the Entity in the classic origin paradox fashion. The Observer will Succumb, and become the Entity- then essentially reach back through time to pull himself into his own dark dimension in order to ensure the coming about of his own dark existence. An infinite, neverending loop. The stories of pain, the killers and the trials, all of it exists purely so he can watch- for no reason other for him to Observe, and in that be driven to insanity and darkness. It all feeds the Entity because it serves to bring itself about, the more the suffering, the deeper the depth of his own paradoxical depravity
i don't keep up with dbd's lore like i used to, but i remember being really interested in the slow collapse of his psyche and crumbling sense of identity after god knows how long of staring into the abyss of horrible memories and the entity's own cosmic indigestion

So the six year anniversary crown that the observer sees on the side of the tower was just a portent that his story would conclude 'IN year six'? And NOT that he'd join as the anniversary killer... It might also rule Vlad the vampire 'knight' out of contention (as our OG knight) if the crown was specifically observer focused and not killer tease focused.
Is there a sniff that we might actually be in the observer's epilogue phase rather than the start of a new story? There was talk about them taking a fresh approach to how the tomes / archives would go 'in the future', it feels suspicious to me that Arkham wasn't the clean slate for the new take.

If it is mentioned in the video because I’m writing this early on while watching then ignore me. But I don’t think the observer could be a playable character like a couple of comments I’ve seen have said. During the masquerade there was a body hung from the exit gates dressed exactly like the observer from the golf video. This also takes place after he had gone missing from the archives. And for anyone saying how most characters have died but are brought into the fog before, may I remind you he has to have been killed in the fog and again. An argument could be made that he can come back as death isn’t an escape. However he never moved from hanging on the gate and was there In any game during the twisted masquerade event. Also not everyone who is dead comes back in the fog. For example the dead people in the dead dawg saloon. Incredibly sorry for the horrible punctuation it’s 2 in the morning.

I'm excited to see what you'll have to say on For Honor! For Honor's lore is interesting, though they don't do much explicit story telling. It's more about a world and less about individual characters, mostly. But especially I'm excited, because while there are some For Honor lore youtubers out there, there's a few subtle alt-righty vibes that sneak through when people do long videos about knightly crusades and then say things like "I just wish Ubisoft didn't force transgender characters down our throats in Rainbow 6", you know?
