I was working for a business machine company in Southern California during the late 70's. We had a service call for a repair at a Country Club in Palm Springs one day so I made the drive out. When I got there, it was just after noon and there were a lot of older gentleman in the building. Any way, after I finished the service call, one of the men asked me if I was hungry, as they had a real nice lunch menu and he would buy me lunch. At first I tried to excuse myself, but he was kindly insistent. I accepted, but was a bit shy about it. The man, by this time I realized I recognized him, but couldn't quite put a name to his face, walked me to the dining room and told the Maitre D' that he was buying my lunch and to give me anything I wanted. It was then I finally realized, THAT"S LIBERACE !!!! I stood there a bit, totally star struck, but accepted his hand-shake and couldn't thank him enough. I I asked him if he didn't mind if I could get his autograph, he then said, "you go ahead and eat, I'll leave something for you in the office, make sure you check with them before you leave". On the way out, I stopped in the office and the woman who worked there gave me an envelope that had Liberace's photo and an personal autograph. I still have it, and have always thought back on that meeting with great fondness. He seemed like the most genuine, kind hearted and decent human being.

Oh you lucky man ... what a very special moment for you. I only discovered Mr. Liberace just now (at age 54) and wonder on which moon I have lived so far, not to have heard about him ... and I am in the classical music. Sadly, it seems to me, the world has forgotten about Liberace.

My daughter & I went to his concert when we lived in Vancouver. That was in ‘78 I believe. I was reorganizing recently & found those two tickets......which I was reminded, looking at them, cost us $35 each!!! Unbelievable compared to what they would’ve cost TODAY!!! 😁👍🏻🇨🇦

Liberace was flamboyant, lavish, and one of a kind, but he did it with class and charm. He was one if the greatest entertainers of all time, and I love watching his performances on TH-cam still. You could tell he loved his mom, and she was proud of him. She was a sweet, elegant lady from what I see. He was one of a kind, and the world is left a little dimmer with him gone from it. RIP Liberace.

He was every mother‘s dream come true, and at one point every woman’s dream come true as well, if they only knew the truth. I’ve always loved Liberace, I was born in 68, growing up in the suburb of Toronto, thinking I was the only gay kid on the planet, until I saw him on television and I knew instantly that I wasn’t alone. Even though he himself never officially came out, fearing it would destroy his career, which it probably would have during those days unfortunately, I looked up to him as a role model, and I never really had a chance to meet him, he will always and forever have my deepest gratitude and love for showing me that it’s not the end of the world and that I can be anything I wanted to be, thanks Lee, you’re the best!!! ❤️ from Toronto
