    An old Electronic engineer here, THANK YOU FOR VIDEO due to you are helping people like that a lot. It may sound strange, but IMHO Bugera is actually better made then some overpriced amps, I love Marshall's and they also make great amps for normal prices like Origin etc. Since i did some services, Those Bugera are honestly surviving road and abuse very well. Of course i like old Marshall and Plexi's, but this is damn good amp in its own right. Rock on, wish you all the best Maestro Euge Valovirta!

    Thanks for highlighting this amp. I purchased one about 2 years ago and it is my main studio amp. Absolutely fantastic '59 Plexi tones, after all, that is what the circuit is. With great mods to make it super user friendly I promote this amp as much as I can. Bugera is gold in my book.

      How does it do with pedals??

    • @Nightwinflyer
      @Nightwinflyer 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a hard amp to get clean, so there is always a pushed drive unless you use low output pickups and drop the volume waaay down.
      Essentially it is a driven amp all the time so it adds that color to any pedal you put in front of it.
      I use a Digitech Bad Monkey in front of the top left input (channel 1 & 2 in parallel) for rhythm and just the bottom left input (cascaded 1 & 2) with no pedals for lead.

    I was considering between this amp and the SV20H a while back and then you made the sv20/sc20 comparisons videos and that was all I needed to buy the SV20H. Now that you've done this video, I'm very happy I chose the SV20.
    That said, for the price of this Bugera, I certainly wouldn't mind picking one up just to have a great sounding but inexpensive modded plexi sort of thing to play around with. But alas, as you know my plans for next summer in Basel, no point in wasting the money. She sure sounds great through your rig, brother. I can't get over the price though. I could have bought 4 of those suckers for the cost of the SV20. That's just CRAZY!!!
    Hope you have a great day and week brother! Cheers from Colorado!!

      I got a 333XL last year as my first "real" tube amp. I was happy with it but still wanted to try something else, like checking how much better is "branded" amp (blame that on GAS). Last month found a great deal and got an IRT60. Needless to say, chucked the IRT60 away and still chugging on the bugera.

      @@wspeed657 if you don't mind answering, what made you sell it?
      I tried a bug 1990 before trying the 333xl, the power amp on that thing was absolutely silent regarding noises and buzzing, just pure straight music.
      I tried it first with a Celestion G12t 100 and loved it, but unfortunately I didn't like it when plugged to vintage 30s, so I send it back to the store and got the 333xl instead.

    I have this amp and it's cool! Great features.. I pretty much use the top Left with almost everything at 7. Channel 2 up to about 4. then boost it. Fantastic amp for what it does. Comes up a bit short on the VH everything on 10 but who cares! A little phaser and an EQ push, nobody will really know if you have the chops. In a blind test, the player will make the difference before the amp does.

  • @phillamoore157
    @phillamoore157 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    WOW.....I've always passed these by given that I think that sometimes amps can be priced a bit too cheap for their own good. Or, that this $600 would be better spent towards something of better quality. What I'm finding with this demo is that, you'd have to spend at minimum 3x's that amount to get a tone like this. GREAT demo Euge!

    I don't know what you're doing different but the quality of your tones and sound product is much better than most channels, and you play like a maniac, in a good way. I am curious, do you know when the amp1x is supposed to hit the market. I love my iridium. I choose that over my Helix for my travel rig. Not say the Helix is bad or anything, but the amp1 is just much easier. Great intro like always

      You’re welcome. Pete Townsend; he wanted to have more volume, more gain and more everything and when Marshall finally made him the amp (100watt SLP and an 8x12 cab which his roadies made into two 4x12s ’cos it was a pain in the ass to carry) it turned out that he definitely wasn’t the only one. I mean is there anything more iconic in guitar gear than a 100 watt Marshall full stack 💪. No 😎.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some label the pre-amp volume (how hard you hit the first preamp tube - the harder the more gain) as gain and some as pre-amp or on non-master volume amps the preamp (gain) volume is just labeled volume ’cos that’s the only volume there is 😎. So the more the preamp volume the louder the amp and the more the gain 💪.

    I picked up one of these used and the guy put a depth knob on the back. To me, with the depth knob cranked it sounds how I would expect an 800 to sound more than a Plexi. Unfortunately I am not able to test that theory because I don't have any Marshalls but I think the 1960 is a hell of a deal.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the amp is pretty much Bugera’s version of a Plexi and 800 is an evolution of a Plexi it makes sense. I mean one of my 800s (The Bad Boy) is really close to a Plexi so it just depends on the amp ’cos all tube amps are different. Especially old Marshalls.

    You can swap 2 of the EL34 with 6L6 to get a blend, no biasing needed or just run with 2 power tubes

    Don’t know what I’d do with 150watts. If they had a 50watt version. I’d be all over it.

    • @JohnWiku
      @JohnWiku 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can remove a tube from each pair and lower the power a bit. 150W is marketing speak, a 100W tube amp will output almost double that when cranked.
      150W peak is not 150W RMS.

    • @polviggen
      @polviggen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not 150 watts, the amp has 4 x EL34's, they only put out 50 watts per pair, Bugera is a bit off with their rating. Besides, the difference between a 50 and 100 watts is just 3db.

  • @OgamiItto70
    @OgamiItto70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That Bugera sounded like a Plexi or 2203 played through a high-pass filter. Getting close to "shrill" territory, sonically. The Marshalls both had more balls. A twist of an EQ knob or a different cab might maybe clear most of that right up.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Bugera amps are not budget. Marshall amps are just over-priced. With all of the great new "budget" amps in production now all you're paying for with a Marshall is the legacy.
    The Marshall amps of today will never attain the vintage value of the old ones.
    Nice chops too by the way Euge.
