Well said, Jen…..frightening times we live in and therefore, reminders and examples of kindness and grace are needed, now more than ever….”evil prevails when good people say nothing”…. Hoping I have the strength of character to speak up when needed, the older I get, the more I am thinking I do……

Oh Jen - I too have felt so much sorrow and anger this week for more than one reason. The world is a heavy place these days. Thank you for speaking out and so openly sharing your heart. Also a runner (57 years old) who used to run at least a couple half’s a year and trying to get back to it… yup. Those mental health benefits are REAL!

Jen, sorry to hear about your friend’s experience. Hopefully the next generation gets things right when it comes to being decent and caring to all. Based on my 2 young adult sons’ behaviour and interactions, I believe they will! Do enjoy your vacay! Everyone deserves some private downtime. Cheers!

Good luck on the running. I was an avid runner and ran many marathons UNTIL severe leg pain which was a pinched nerve in my back requiring two surgeries. After 18 months off I am also slowly starting again, I have really missed it.

Matthew Shepard’s mother, Judy, getting the Medal Of Freedom should be a reminder to all of us of the horrific pain she endured losing her son to a heinous crime of hatred. We are or should be better than this!

My husband works for Fords Theater and Matthew Shepherds mom came to the opening performance of Laramie Project that the theater did a few years back. Across the street from the opening was the westborro Baptist church protesting and the things their signs said were so heinous. This woman lost her son in a brutal, terrible way, and people feel the need to hold these signs in front of her about how he deserved to die like that. The things that woman has had to endure, truly breaks my heart.

I am a volunteer at a charity shop near where I live in England and so appreciate what you say about not taking your rubbish to the donation center. We do get lots of stuff that is totally unsaleable and goes straight into our trash container. We do, of course, also get a great deal of lovely, previously loved items.

I know of the incident you were referring to as I am a follower of that individual on socials, and it upset me greatly as well - especially as someone extremely near and dear to me is a member of LGBTQ community. I appreciate that you speak out against hatred in all forms, and I aspire to do the same myself in whatever way that I can. Thanks so much for using your platform to share a kind, accepting perspective that is so badly needed in the world today.

Love this type of vlog Jen!
So sorry to hear your friend had such a horrible thing happened to him...hope he's doing okay.
For merino wool shirts, do you like Unbound or Wood& more? Unbound seems a little more expensive but not sure what their big differences are if they are both merino wool? Also, do you have any recommendations for comfy wide leg pants that's good for travel?
One last thing, your Burberry trench coat purchase "inspired" me to get one! I thought about it before a few times but still wasn't sure if it's worth it, and it's very helpful to hear someone that doesn't chase designer items and say, "yes it's a lot more money but worth it!". So thank you for doing that video! Going to Europe soon so I'm hoping to get mine at the airport as well!

    • @JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge
      @JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

So I really like both brands and yes both have merino wool although check the blend - wool and has a lot of pieces with nylon which isn’t a bad thing and can help with wear but just check that part. My dresses from Wooland are some of my favorite pieces but form basic tshirts I would go with Unbound Merino. And for wide leg pants definitely check Spanx and JJill - they have some good quality options

Hi there Jen, My name is Sharlot, and I am a newbie to your channel.
Firstly, it so lovely to see and listen to a woman on TH-cam who is in my generation, yay! I felt very touched by what you said in this Vlog.
Here in Australia, we see, hear and read a lot about extremist bigoted views that are hate filled towards all strands of difference, mind you we have our fair share of that here too!
However, in my ‘bubble’, along with the own backyard hatred (Middle White Australians) we hear, read and see a lot of the same coming from a collective group of American people, who are known as, ‘Middle White Americans’ there are a lot of reports of hate speech, and the banning of books, school lessons around Gender and Pronouns, along with general shootings in schools!
Amongst all that darkness, there is always light, and you are one of those light bringers, so thank you for being you and doing what you can to speak out and walk your talk.
As a privileged person, like me, you are doing your best to be self aware and insightful, working on prejudices that we all have been taught, and have learned, such as Racism.
I know that I am late to the party, but I hope that your friend who had the hateful homophobia lashed out at them, are bouncing back after some time and maybe Counselling, as a space to express their sadness and grief, and or anger.
Also, as a member of the LGBTIQA+ community myself, for almost half my life, it is very heart warming to hear you say the things around equality that you expressed so well in this Vlog, moreover, speaking your truths about it all!
I would also like to thank you for the approach that you have in this regard, speaking out when you see or hear hate, voting for those political candidates, who are most likely to look after all, and not discriminate based on difference!
Despite my being a member of the LGBTIQA+ community, I acknowledge that I too am immensely privileged, in that I
am a Cis-gendered woman of Anglo-Celtic background, living in a colonilised country. I would like to think that I walk my talk too.
It is so refreshing to hear that your views on this are similar to my own, thank you for sharing your truths and using your platform for good, and the betterment of your community, with the intersection of, our community as a global one where acceptance, kindness and compassion are base values that connect us all!
I have also loved watching you share packing videos, I am a chronic over packer, of the ‘just in case’ variety, but am learning a lot, thank you!
Lastly, am really enjoying watching you have a lot of fun bringing out your inner child to play, also with your companions when you Cruise along - thanks for sharing.
Am very glad that you kept this one for yourself though, it must have felt very different to be fully immersed in your holiday without feeling like you needed to document it for public consumption - great boundaries there!😃
Take care, be well and happy!
    Kindly,
    Sharlot ☺️🌻🌱✨🧚

I would love a walk in wardrobe ( closet) but in our smallish home here in the UK I only have a small freestanding wardrobe and a 3 drawer chest of drawers and it’s all full to the limit! Most of the clothes hangers in my wardrobe have at least 2 items on! I do find it hard to let go of things but I know I would totally benefit from it and feel much more organised! So on point. I'm picky about where I donate and only donate things that I feel I would still use but for whatever reason don't any more. As far as the hate, preach it sister. My son's sister (not my daughter and no longer my step-daughter but very much my child still) was married for years to a man, had a child and later in life after her divorce fell in love with a woman. We live in Georgia like you do, so they could not legally marry here but did go up north and got married there. Her father refuses to even speak to her, which she has learned to live with since she and her wife have a very good life without him. My son was married to a woman of color for a few years and their father didn't speak to him then either. After my son divorced and now has a beautiful 3 year old little girl by his current partner, his dad wants to get back in with him. Both he (my son) and his sister are just fine not having someone like that in their lives.
