Hi Allana, the shirts that you say are silk from H&M are really made of polyester and not real silk. Polyester heats up the body because it’s a man-made material, but real silk does not heat up it cools you down.
I thought with silk it can heat or cool depending on the weave? Like, silk undergarments were a thing to keep you warm for skiing once upon a time. Now I’m wondering if it was a myth
Came here to comment the same. Silk does not make you sweaty. On the contrary, it's the best fabric to wear in extreme heat. That must be poliester shirt, not silk shirt.
Actual real silk makes me sweat like crazy! Or maybe I just feel the sweat more bc it won't soak into such thin material.. I have many silk shirts but never wear them because just like Allana, I should wear a tank underneath and it takes away from the look 😔
The vintage Dior blazer, what’s the composition? If you love everything else about it you could investigate getting it dyed to a colour you like so you wear it 🤷🏼♀️

I have 4 classic suits, 8 vintage blouses ❤️, a couple classic skirts, 2 dresses and a few vintage silk scarves. It makes dressing quick & easy, while still expressing my personality.
I did a MAJOR closet clean out recently and have been selling things online and using the money to replace with things I love and fit. It was um....a bit confronting! Many items that don't fit at all, items that had weird memories etc. Felt so good to get rid.
Aw, that defeated "aw I'm not doing a great job here" at 13:35😭🙈 Listen, I FELT that. I feel like I mostly wear scrubs, so I can't always rotate my cloths through a season... So I, too, struggle with parting with my cloths based on how often I wear a piece of clothing.. In the end, any closet clear-out for me ends up being based on "am I still in love with the piece"..🤷🏻♀🙈😁
I love a good closet clean out! Ever since I started my poshmark store it’s been something I look forward to. It’s definitely work to post things to sell, but I love wrapping it up all pretty with a little card and the idea of it going somewhere it will be worn and loved. I have a goal to LOVE everything in my closet, even if I haven’t worn it in over a year. I don’t subscribe to this “if you haven’t worn it in a year” idea simply because I don’t go out enough. I’d regret that. There are so many classic type things that I keep forever, but the more trendy things I’ll let go. For me I have a pile of things I need to get altered so I’ll wear it. I wish so much I were the same size as you! I peruse your Depop with longing 😍. The fact that you have a sweater vest section makes me love you even more. A gal with a sweater vest collection is such a green flag and I love it!
This video inspired me to clean and clear my closet. I am also guilty of hoarding clothing and shoes because I'm petite and it's hard to find things that fit and that I really like. Wow. It's like you're in my head, lol....I'm in the same boat with spring cleaning and all. At first, I was so overwhelmed that I literally wrote down a "plan" for day to day projects, and once I started, I could feel the overwhelming feeling start to melt away. Morning Allana, I watched you via the TV today and had no problem with the sound. I’m sure you’ve tried a lot of things to get the tan stain out of your clothes. I use a ‘Vanish’ stick which looks a bit like a deodorant and I paste it over the neck stains and let it soak in. So funny we’re talking about laundry when you’re going through your beautiful wardrobe. You did a good job today 🥰

Honestly for me, with pieces of clothing that I have collected but never wear, I will force myself to wear it once regardless of occasion or reason and then I truly know how I felt in the piece. We can feel good when we look at things on hangers and also while trying on, but I think it’s important with acknowledging how the piece makes you feel after a full day of wearing. It’ll either prove your point of decluttering or keeping. Hope this helps!
SAME! Gahh I thought it was just me and I’m easily annoyed lol so I was glad to see I’m not the only one. That giant microphone drives me absolutely crazy 😂. I wanna know why? Why does she use it? The clip on microphone looks, and sounds so much better. The huge microphone is so distracting! It’s like the star of the video 😂 and I can’t see anything else. I also don’t understand why some influencers hold onto their clip-on microphone. It sounds so bad when they hold it.
For the stained shirts, try soaking them in Biz for a few days! That's what my mom used for our white oxford school shirts with gnarly teenage sweat stains (lol) and it got them out every time, better than anything else ever could.
For the 'How' pieces you don't wear/ want to try to wear more: Take them out of the closet and leave them on the rail, to keep them top of mind as a reminder that you need to challenge yourself to wear them in the next month or so. You have so many clothes that you'll forget about them otherwise and just keep reaching for your regulars.
I am totally with you on the whole silk blouse of it all...I start screaming whenever anyone says silk is a good fabric to wear when it's hot out. NO! THE SWEAT THE SWEATTTT
That' because it's not silk but satin! At least H&M one she shows at 11:26. Silk is a natural fiber and doesn't make you sweat - but satin is usually polyester, which is basically plastic, so you tend to sweat alot in it... The fabrics look similar but are VERY different! also, silk is wayyyyy more expensive than polyester..
In home professional organizer here! You did a great job actually 😊. Setting a limit for how long you’ll keep certain maybe pieces is a smart move. It’ll make the next clean out easier.

I completely relate to the hoarding issue not growing up with much. In high school, I had 6 outfits that I would rotate 😬. I do like a good purge every once in awhile though. Allana, I’m with you…the hoarding has got to STOP. I work from home and have had such a hard time parting with clothing that I never wear and will never wear. However, I’ve been slowly clearing out some of them and each time I feel proud of myself only to go back into my closet and it looks like I have gotten rid of nothing 😂😂😂. The jeans are hardest. I parted with so many but yet many remains 😂😂😂. Good thing is that as I get older I realize I don’t need or want as much so it’s just a slow process. ❤❤❤
I try and do the opposite with my more 'maybe' pieces - I take them out and put them in luggage or with my clothes to sell and then if I find I am thinking about it or want to wear it again I will go into that pile and grab it, but not seeing it really helps give me the distance to assess if I genuinely want to keep it or not!
Lestoil is extremely good at removing lipstick and oil stains so I’m quite certain it will work on bronzer. It has a very strong smell so only use sparingly directly on the spot. Hope this helps.

I always clear out my closet at the end of each season. Then it’s easier to remember if I wore the items I was giving “one more season” instead of thinking back to almost a year ago.
What’s helped me a lot in cleaning out my closet is thinking “would someone else potentially like this more than me” - it helps me be more ruthless without feeling like I’m getting rid of things I like? ❤❤

It's so interesting watching people with different lifestyles and wardrobes organise their closets! You looked lovely in all of your chic, tailored blazers but in my life I would never need to own more than one. I also gasped when you said you decluttered 9 pairs of jeans because I don't think I've ever owned 9 pairs of jeans at once. I have 3 pairs right now and I could honestly probably lose one. I don't have the 'love to buy it, not wear it' thing as much as I have the 'love to see it on someone else, but it wouldn't work for me' thing.
Every single time you said oh no I ruined the collar with makeup, I kept thinking boo you need to get yourself a stronger stain removing game. I personally never got white anything or light coloured clothing because I’m messy af yk. But as an adult I was like but I want whites and creams etc so I built myself a mostly strong stain removing game. One of my holy grail stain removers is the ecover branded one that tackles stubborn stains (clear bottle, hot pink twist on cap) and it’s where my journey started but man it’s incredible. Now I’ve built out the stain removing system via much online research but seriously if you hadn’t tried this guy, defo give it a whirl. Usually I leave it on the stain area like 8-24hrs (aka many many hours lol to ensure it really soaks in)
Just needed to pop on here midway through to say that stained white linen shirt does not need to be the end. Dye it a darker color than the stain (a brown or black maybe) and you will be able to bring it back into rotation for spring/summer. ✌🏻❤️
I love your large closet, I live in San Francisco and my closet is so so small. Did I mention that I love to shop, last month I did a huge clean out giveaway and now I feel so much better. I’m attached to my clothing . But I finally found myself in a situation where a lot of my clothes were old/vintage so I just made piles if you don’t ware it at all … I got rid of it same with my shoes, handbags and coats.

Im so late…so far loving, yes I am very friendly with dust bunnies! Esp with animals! I did try your makeup look, not with same products, but the whole glam blush on forehead, etc. I sweat it off in one hour, but I loved look! It's so funny that you say your self tanner stains. It always washes right out for me. Also you need the stain remover SHOUT, it will get out all make-up. I use it on all my reusable make-up cloths. Its magic! ❤

For any dark fabrics (like black and dark blue) that have faded there is a laundry detergent called Perwoll that restores the color. Just FYI. 😊

I try and do the opposite with my more 'maybe' pieces - I take them out and put them in luggage or with my clothes to sell and then if I find I am thinking about it or want to wear it again I will go into that pile and grab it, but not seeing it really helps give me the distance to assess if I genuinely want to keep it or not!
Lestoil is extremely good at removing lipstick and oil stains so I’m quite certain it will work on bronzer. It has a very strong smell so only use sparingly directly on the spot.

I always clear out my closet at the end of each season. Then it’s easier to remember if I wore the items I was giving “one more season” instead of thinking back to almost a year ago.
What’s helped me a lot in cleaning out my closet is thinking “would someone else potentially like this more than me” - it helps me be more ruthless without feeling like I’m getting rid of things I like? ❤❤

I find that it helps hold the shape better if I button my blouses at the collar once they’re on the hanger.
It's so interesting watching people with different lifestyles and wardrobes organise their closets! You looked lovely in all of your chic, tailored blazers but in my life I would never need to own more than one. I also gasped when you said you decluttered 9 pairs of jeans because I don't think I've ever owned 9 pairs of jeans at once. I have 3 pairs right now and I could honestly probably lose one. I don't have the 'love to buy it, not wear it' thing as much as I have the 'love to see it on someone else, but it wouldn't work for me' thing.

Every single time you said oh no I ruined the collar with makeup, I kept thinking boo you need to get yourself a stronger stain removing game. I personally never got white anything or light coloured clothing because I’m messy af yk. But as an adult I was like but I want whites and creams etc so I built myself a mostly strong stain removing game. One of my holy grail stain removers is the ecover branded one that tackles stubborn stains (clear bottle, hot pink twist on cap) and it’s where my journey started but man it’s incredible. Now I’ve built out the stain removing system via much online research but seriously if you hadn’t tried this guy, defo give it a whirl. Usually I leave it on the stain area like 8-24hrs (aka many many hours lol to ensure it really soaks in)

Just needed to pop on here midway through to say that stained white linen shirt does not need to be the end. Dye it a darker color than the stain (a brown or black maybe) and you will be able to bring it back into rotation for spring/summer. ✌🏻❤️

I love your large closet, I live in San Francisco and my closet is so so small. Did I mention that I love to shop, last month I did a huge clean out giveaway and now I feel so much better. I’m attached to my clothing . But I finally found myself in a situation where a lot of my clothes were old/vintage so I just made piles if you don’t ware it at all … I got rid of it same with my shoes, handbags and coats.

There is a stain remover called Stingray. We use it to clean makeup off theatrical costumes. Let it soak the wash with OxyClean.

It's so funny that you say your self tanner stains. It always washes right out for me. Also you need the stain remover SHOUT, it will get out all make-up. I use it on all my reusable make-up cloths. Its magic! ❤
