    But ofc you can startup the APU without ground power. It is suppose to start on battery. It's just a small turbine with a small fuel pump ;) both IRL and in Zibo
    Also for the plan/fuel field. The Plan field is used when the aircraft is not yet fueled, or during the tanking process. It is supposed to be your final fuel quantity tanked and is necessary only if you want to continue with the perf settings while waiting for the plane to be fueled.

    Running thorough checklists makes all the difference in the real world. In your flight(s) your attention to checklists and detail makes the difference between an excellent presentation with real world accuracy and the many sloppy sim videos out there. Well done! In addition, checklists prevent sim errors being made. Your work should set standards for others.

      Andre, man, what a nice comment! Thank you so much! I 100% agree, checklists are so essential. I use flows when I fly for real but I always pull out the checklist after my flow to ensure I didn't miss anything!

    • @larsbjrn2865
      @larsbjrn2865 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is possible. I am doing it all the time. You can use the skyvector. Try to create your own route and then enter it in the FMC manually. For some waypoints the FMC can give error. It means that those waypoints does not exist for airac 1708. At this point you can try to choose another waypoint in the skyvector. For fuel and CI numbers you can use the simbrief. The route that you have created will not be the same as the route ceated by the simbrief but at least it will give some values.

    I'm a little confused what the difference is between the heading and course settings on the MCP at about 25:00. Course 162 and heading 164 what's the difference when departuring?

    • @MicahMesser
      @MicahMesser  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Course is the course according to the chart, for example your RNAV departure says flight course 100 after departure. However, the runway's heading is 107. Heading get's set to runway heading and course gets set to departure course.

    Hi Micah! Any tips for someone like me who keeps on having bounced landing?

    • @andredarin8966
      @andredarin8966 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      737 pilot, here. Bounced landings are generally the result of a pilot trying to save an approach that wasn't stabilized or chopping the power to a degree that exceeds the aircraft's rate of descent.
      The 737-800 is longer than most pilots first realize and because of the length the flare has to be less to avoid a tail strike. Flying by the numbers (i.e. %N1) and attitude (degrees nose up) makes landing the 737-8, easy, although it's still an airplane that requires the pilot to fly it.
      You might try landing with Flap 30, Vref + 5, and between two degrees and two degrees nose up.
      The real trick again is a stabilized approach. Check out this video from the feds. (I used the autoland feature in the Zibo mod so my son could get an idea of what a stabilized approach looks like. Stabilized approaches, however, are the result of getting your descent planning nailed--which can be tricky and depends on such factors as how the controller uses transitions to stack arriving aircraft, the prevailing wind component, the weight of the aircraft, etc.
      A good rule of thumb to manage descent is to go from top of descent to 10,000' at
      a pitch angle of about three degrees or slightly more, reduce it to 2 degrees or shallower when approaching 10,000' by bleeding off the power, and then when ATC clears you to a lower altitude you pitch up to 3 degrees again. It's not a coincidence that glideslope angles are three degrees.
      The short answer to not bouncing is the result of a stabilized approach and a stabilized approach depends on a well-managed descent.

      It depends on what you want. There is not a good Payware 737 for X-Plane 11. Zibo is far superior to a lot of payware aircraft now. For Airbus, Toliss cannot be beaten for quality and frame rates.

    Micah, I'm having trouble getting the PFDs to work. I keep getting an "enter IRS position" message. I tried to do what you did at 16:20, but I don't have that "Set IRS Position box" at the 4th button down on the right. Do I need, what did you say, "Navigraph?"

    • @andredarin8966
      @andredarin8966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacob, I fly 737's and the Zibo mod is surprisingly realistic in its requirements to follow certain procedures precisely. There are some work-arounds and different carriers might do some things differently. One, for instance, might not put on the fuel pumps until just after the brake set subsequent to pushback. Another will turn on hydraulic pumps right after connecting to the GPU so the PNF can see any hydraulic leaks.
      Insofar as your question goes, you might try this when setting up your FMC for routing: (It's pretty much the sequence Micah uses, but sometimes it's difficult to follow it.)
      First, clear the "enter IRS position" message. you don't have to concern yourself with that until you begin populating the POS/INIT data.
      Key POS/INIT, then enter REF ARPT. Select next page and your GPS co-ordinates should appear. Key the first one then go to "Previous Page" and when you set the IRS, your GPS co-orinates should appear in the boxes.
      Hopes this helps.

    Hi Micah, really enjoying your videos. One problem though, at the beginning of descending procedure, when you type in -3/30.33 in the FMC under DES(ISA DEV/QNH), you mention the information is on Page 1 of the flight plan(from Simbrief), I have been looking for these numbers(-3/30.33) but they are nowhere to be found. Also, the FLAP/SPD values(30/149) under APPROACH REF
    Can you explain exactly where these two numbers can be found?
    1) -3 and
    2) 30.33.
    3) 30/149
    PS. It would've been amazing if you can show the documents or information regarding to on the monitor so that viewers know exactly what you are referring to instead of searching for every little information separately. It took me 2 hours just to get to the descent part of the video trying to figure out exactly what you are referring to. As for an absolute novice, it is overwhelming trying to GUESS what you're referring to.

    • @MicahMesser
      @MicahMesser  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I cover how and where to find that information on the other tutorials I've done.
      1) that is found on page one of the flight plan under ISA DEV in the column in the upper right hand side of the page.
      2) that is the local altimeter which can be found numerous ways and is ever changing with the weather. Google METAR for the airport you are going to.
      3) the flap and speed information is the reference information for the aircraft and you on approach and landing. It is calculated two ways: in the FMC itself or with a secondary program. I use ApSoft Toolbox and it is very useful. I plan to do a tutorial soon on it.

      @@MicahMesser Hey Micah, one more question. As I was studying your FMC setup video, I am understanding better each minute. I found one thing odd which is in your FMC video when inputting RTE before departure, you input the waypoints in order(starting w/ CACD2) as exactly written on the flight plan, but in this video, for some reason, you seem to start from the middle as 'WANTA' WP is not the first waypoint in the flight plan(your flight plan). Can you explain a little about this procedure?

    • @MicahMesser
