Hello! A little info on XG for you. XG is a 7 member GLOBAL girl group. They are all Japanese (Harvey is half Australian and Hinata is half Korean i believe), but their company(XGALX) is based in Korea. It's sub label of AVEX Inc. which is Japanese company. They promote like K-Pop groups, but they are NOT K-pop. All their songs are in completely English, except some of their Cyphers. They can rap/sing in English, Japanese, and Korean. 4 main rappers and 3 vocalist but as time passes with each new release, it's 7 all rounders now haha If you would like to react to more please react to their XG Tapes. Okay, I feel like I understand better now. It’s more of a revolutionary style that they are bringing so many are probably not considering it actual K-Pop. Overtime this might actually develop into its own genre potentially. It’s kinda like when artists started bringing more singing and vocals to rap & changed that scene to more versatility in a way. Especially when something is very new it takes others more to adapt usually

This is why XG is legit fr. They grew up listening to to 80s 90s rap and hip hop and they have american writers. That's why they really shouldn't be compared to kpop imo. XG raps for real 🔥 And they do it with class
Do the rappers write their own lyrics? There's real rappers in kpop too though, like RM and Suga from BTS were underground battle rappers, they write and produce a lot, and also know their old school hiphop very well (the BTS song Hip Hop Lover showcases their knowledge). BTS was also personally mentored by ppl like Coolio and Warren G very early on. RM has a very old song with Warren called P.D.D. I'd recommend his more recent song Yun ft. Erykah Badu. And Suga is known for his producing, he goes by Agust D for his solo work. I'd recommend his song Haegeum, he wrote and produced the song entirely by himself. His song Snooze is really great too. Outro Tear is an excellent rap song by the 3 rappers of BTS, takes ppl by surprise.
tbh I came to know of XG because of Cocona( the one who shaved her head), she went viral for her rap at such a young age. She is the youngest in the group.

I primarily listen to trance, techno, and hardcore/metal music...I find XG to be phenomenal. The beats and hooks are simple but so so so catchy and the choreography is insanely good. Even the toned down live "The First Take" videos are great. Plus, my daughter loves them...or I tell myself she does becase she is an infant and stops crying when I play XG's music for her. I am BTS ARMY and I only listen to BTS and XG. Both have roots in rap, hip hop and R&B and are multi-talented. You literally have to go all the way to Korea/Japan to find quality. And their lyrics are normally deeper and more socially conscious, unlike most western artists talking about money, dr**gs, s£x etc. They have the skills so don't need to do that!💜
It gets tiring listening to the same thing over and over again. Also, when you ONLY speak about that, you are literally lowering your energy. I still listen to regular rap but nowhere as frequently, and it must be lyrical. Music is very powerful!

I am right there with you. ARMY since 2018, became TXT MOA in 2019 ( in fact I'm in NYC right now, going to their concert tomorrow night), and lately, I've been into ATEEZ. But XG is the first gg I have ever stanned. Although I like individual gg songs, to me, they are all the same. Let me provide a little bit of info for you and your followers. This is a 7-member Japanese global girl group ( 4 rappers and 3 vocalists but they all can do it all ). COWBOY REACTS has a 35-minute breakdown video on this song and has another 1-hour video of him breaking down GALZ XYPHER which is the rap song XG blew up :D Other reactors have breakdowns of their other rap songs, especially the TAPE's, in which they use the beats of "known" songs and sing their own lyrics. They pay homage to OG's and show respect all the time. They have tons of references etc. They are basically a shape-shifting alien wolf pack from another galaxy and they have a lore. The eye thing was always prominent in XG music videos. You can see them keep changing and evolving etc. If you watch all their music videos in order you'll see the through line. "Tippy Toes" shows a little bit of their wolf shape & powers. "Mascara" shows a bit of their body adaptability. "Shooting Star" tells the story of them wanting to shoot off into the Stars to achieve their dreams "Left Right" shows them travelling across the galaxies. "HESONOO&X-GENE" is them awakening from hibernation before reaching Earth. "GRL GVNG" is XG's arrival on Earth. "TGIF" is their evolution commencing on the planet. "New Dance" is them exploring their new environments ETC. ETC. WOKE UP is kinda like them taking over or getting ready to take over. Their different songs/MV's represent different ERA's of their arrival to Earth ( not Earth per se but planets in general I assume ) and taking over. You can check the zoomed-in eye shots in these MV's and see the differences. They used those eye thingies in other songs like Shooting Star as well. I am not 100% sure what eye represents but my interpretation is that it shows their evolution or it basically shows they are aliens in a cool and visually pleasing way. I am sure they have a more detailed lore but we as the fans don't know much details yet. They also have tons of references and easter eggs in the videos. For example, in the first Maya verse, it is like a court scene and Maya says "I'm the judge and jury" and she is addressing the "haters". There are people around in wolf-heads who are the witnesses ( which are the fans - their fandom name is Alphaz, WE are the witnesses ) and a guy is being judged with the upper half of his head missing. He represents the haters so they are no-brain, only talk. Also, you can see there is a building at the start and at the end and, a guy approaches it. He is the CEO of XG's label. Basically, he is XG's boss, but in the video, he is their commander. So while Maya taking the haters to the court, the other girls are coming in from the multiverse to attack the haters' """"head-quarters"""". You can see in the end it is in the shape of a head. It also blows up, so it means they take down the haters but it can also mean, after you finish watching the video, your minds are blown. EXTRA : Cocona shaving her head can be interpreted in multiple ways. Saying F U to the beauty standards of the industry? Also, XG got some shade because of their outfits, hair styles, lyrics etc. ( Coco had braids for a lil while, so basically saying here, I cut all off, what now ? ) saying that they appropriate black culture ( they actually don't, they love the culture and they pay homage all the time. They don't pretend, they grew up with those songs, and their inspirations are the biggest old-school R&B, hip-hop, and rap artists mostly from the USA, they sing their songs, they use their beats, they shoutout and everything ) also, it appears she already did that when she was younger and wanted to do it again. The label didn't want her to until now since it fits the concept and MV so she did it in this MV. That can mean a lot of things but it's a bold move either way and it is fun, it is swaggy and it suits her personality. She is one of the swaggiest , coolest people I have ever seen. I primarily listen to trance, techno, and hardcore/metal music...I find XG to be phenomenal. The beats and hooks are simple but so so so catchy and the choreography is insanely good. Even the toned down live "The First Take" videos are great. Plus, my daughter loves them...or I tell myself she does becase she is an infant and stops crying when I play XG's music for her.

I am BTS ARMY and I only listen to BTS and XG. Both have roots in rap, hip hop and R&B and are multi-talented.
You literally have to go all the way to Korea/Japan to find quality. And their lyrics are normally deeper and more socially conscious, unlike most western artists talking about money, dr**gs, s£x etc. They have the skills so don't need to do that!💜
It gets tiring listening to the same thing over and over again. Also, when you ONLY speak about that, you are literally lowering your energy. I still listen to regular rap but nowhere as frequently, and it must be lyrical. Music is very powerful!

I am right there with you. ARMY since 2018, became TXT MOA in 2019 ( in fact I'm in NYC right now, going to their concert tomorrow night), and lately, I've been into ATEEZ. But XG is the first gg I have ever stanned. Although I like individual gg songs, to me, they are all the same. I only listen to groups who stand out, who touch on multiple genres, and basically, who pierce my heart. Very few Kpop (or xpop) groups can do that for me. Let me provide a little bit of info for you and your followers. This is a 7-member Japanese global girl group ( 4 rappers and 3 vocalists but they all can do it all ). They operate in both Korea and Japan but they are not a K-pop group, they almost always sing in English. They can speak Japanese, Korean and English and English is their 3rd language. They mostly do Rap and R&B stuff but they are really versatile, you will see all kinds of songs from them.
These girls have bars actually. COWBOY REACTS has a 35-minute breakdown video on this song and has another 1-hour video of him breaking down GALZ XYPHER which is the rap song XG blew up :D Other reactors have breakdowns of their other rap songs, especially the TAPE's, in which they use the beats of "known" songs and sing their own lyrics. They pay homage to OG's and show respect all the time. They have tons of references etc.
They are basically a shape-shifting alien wolf pack from another galaxy and they have a lore. The eye thing was always prominent in XG music videos. You can see them keep changing and evolving etc. If you watch all their music videos in order you'll see the through line.
"Tippy Toes" shows a little bit of their wolf shape & powers.
"Mascara" shows a bit of their body adaptability.
"Shooting Star" tells the story of them wanting to shoot off into the Stars to achieve their dreams
"Left Right" shows them travelling across the galaxies.
"HESONOO&X-GENE" is them awakening from hibernation before reaching Earth.
"GRL GVNG" is XG's arrival on Earth.
"TGIF" is their evolution commencing on the planet.
"New Dance" is them exploring their new environments ETC. ETC.
WOKE UP is kinda like them taking over or getting ready to take over. Their different songs/MV's represent different ERA's of their arrival to Earth ( not Earth per se but planets in general I assume ) and taking over. You can check the zoomed-in eye shots in these MV's and see the differences. They used those eye thingies in other songs like Shooting Star as well. I am not 100% sure what eye represents but my interpretation is that it shows their evolution or it basically shows they are aliens in a cool and visually pleasing way. I am sure they have a more detailed lore but we as the fans don't know much details yet.
They also have tons of references and easter eggs in the videos. For example, in the first Maya verse, it is like a court scene and Maya says "I'm the judge and jury" and she is addressing the "haters". There are people around in wolf-heads who are the witnesses ( which are the fans - their fandom name is Alphaz, WE are the witnesses ) and a guy is being judged with the upper half of his head missing. He represents the haters so they are no-brain, only talk. Also, you can see there is a building at the start and at the end and, a guy approaches it. He is the CEO of XG's label. Basically, he is XG's boss, but in the video, he is their commander. So while Maya taking the haters to the court, the other girls are coming in from the multiverse to attack the haters' """"head-quarters"""". You can see in the end it is in the shape of a head. It also blows up, so it means they take down the haters but it can also mean, after you finish watching the video, your minds are blown.
EXTRA : Cocona shaving her head can be interpreted in multiple ways. Saying F U to the beauty standards of the industry? Also, XG got some shade because of their outfits, hair styles, lyrics etc. ( Coco had braids for a lil while, so basically saying here, I cut all off, what now ? ) saying that they appropriate black culture ( they actually don't, they love the culture and they pay homage all the time. They don't pretend, they grew up with those songs, and their inspirations are the biggest old-school R&B, hip-hop, and rap artists mostly from the USA, they sing their songs, they use their beats, they shoutout and everything ) also, it appears she already did that when she was younger and wanted to do it again. The label didn't want her to until now since it fits the concept and MV so she did it in this MV. That can mean a lot of things but it's a bold move either way and it is fun, it is swaggy and it suits her personality. She is one of the swaggiest , coolest people I have ever seen. She is so badass.
