QR codes are a japanese invention, so there is a connection to Japan, but I believe it might symbolize something hiding behind, even behind the mask. Seeing that when you finally unlock the code, it will reveal something totally different, it is also visualized in the music video, where the mask kind of unlocks and dissolves and a native jungle green queen is seen.

This is just my own theory because in the music video for howling, the "man" they k*ll by the end is a big man (you know what I'm talking about) and the CEO of HYBE is also a big man.

Wolves = Predators
Pig = Prey
Other interpretations were closer to saying that "PIG" was a big corporation sucking the lives out of the people who became their followers/drones. Pigs devour anything and everything. Negative connotations about PIG also imply immense selfishness, manipulation, and greed. The pigs have taken everything, that's why there's no nature.
Later we see XG taking out all of the individuals with QR codes. There's even a scene with them hanging upside down as Maya says that she has mouths to feed, and the wolves around her (they sort of look like beings from Ghibli) seem to be eating a "pig" (QR person) on the table. The more pigs XG hunt, the more nature grows back.

💛So my opinion of the story of the MV is that they are telling a story of going back to nature and leaving the digital age behind. Cause they reference princess mononoke and that movie was all about protecting and healing in nature against dangerous civilisations. Our world is too much even for humans, we weren’t supposed to develop this quickly so going back to nature is the only way.
Referencing the wolves also in princess mononoke 🐺
It’s crazy how within the last decade the magnitude society has changed. Growing up we were more social & had to go outside & play. Definitely love the positive aspects of social media, that’s how we are able to connect today like no other time in human history. That being said though, a lot of people lost touch with reality & can’t even hold a conversation. Reality doesn’t exist outside of the virtual in their eyes which is scary. I make sure to touch grass, get sunlight & smell the air everyday. Going to look up Princess Mononoke. Really loved this comment!
@ I think this video is based on characters from studio ghibli and other references (which I’m not quite sure of yet). Studio ghibli usually sends messages through their films about human behaviour, healing, children and the nature and how it can all connect to each other. If you look at the characters closely they mostly have similar representations to characters in studio ghibli. Jurin is portrayed as San “wolf girl” in Princess mononoke who is seen as a Strong person who fights for her rights and protects her people. The dragon is perhaps Haku from spirited away, he shows bravery and sadness. Harvey in the video shows that she’s surrounded by flowers and greenery representing Mother Nature and spirituality.
