God I love this color, had a early 00's Fat Strat Texas Special in this color and it's my "one that got away". Can't believe Fender hasn't reintroduced this color, and instead keeps experimenting with weird finishes that nobody wants.
Hi Jon, I have some info to share about Tom's guitars. Couple years ago Steve Klein from NFG put some guitars to sell and a friend of mine ended up buying one of them. I went with him to pick up the guitar and I asked couple questions about his guitars and he told me that back then Fender custom shop in order to speed up the building process used to make inhouse partcaster guitars. Steve's guitars were American standard bodies with richie sambora's neck (ex: blue sparkle with maple neck and star inlays). I asked if Tom's guitars were kind the same story. He confirmed the most of his guitars followed the same process (but he mentioned that he also had full customs as well, like the sea foam green with the custom punk inlays). With that information I'm 99% sure that most of his guitars were American standard bodies with Ritchie Blackmore neck (the custom shop version) which has de 70's large headstock, no bullet truss rod adjustment, no skunk stripe and the same front decal with the synchronized tremolo pat. pending logo and the back custom shop logo. I hope it helps with your future custom projects.
You're dead right on the headstock logo/neck. I know his early strats (this one, Inca silver, surf green w/ 2 point) we're custom shop 69' necks with no finish (I believe he said this in the old 2000 Guitar Center magazine interview) on production American bodies, which makes this about as dead on as possible. Not sure if his later guitars (white, black, brown with stripe) used a different neck but they at least use the same logo as this one. Pretty killer job!
Sick dude! Not gonna lie, you helped turn me on to the idea of a single pickup guitar. I tried to find one that I loved online, it was pretty much impossible hah, I ended up ordering the bits and pieces from warmoth. I'm going to use an invader pickup as well! I think the black and white invader looks sick. Thank for doin what you do
@@littleredguitars2 thanks dude! I know you've worked with a lot of invaders, I'm going with a bridge. But I'm thinking about doing a coil tap/split, have you done this? What are your thoughts
Nailed the tone - cool build. As I recall though Tom had another in that blue with a yellow pearl pick guard and an American machined saddle hardtail bridge. I have a pic of him with that from Guitar World. All hardware was chrome and the Invader is white
Tom either had the bridge made black as you said or he could have taken the bridge out and had someone paint it black or had it powder coated black My orange ibanez I've had for years that somehow has a tom sound has a black bridge on it and I found out through a guitar shop guy said his friend used to own the guitar and the bridge was originally silver but his friend took it out and had it powder coated black
This is a great video, very informative and congratulations on another amazing build! I would suggest that since Tom did okay this guitar for quite awhile, he may have sweated out/shorted the pickup out at some point and that’s probably the reason for the switch. I would imagine he probably went through a few pickups but it’s much more noticeable when switching colors. Anyways, thanks again for doing these. It’s a fantastic color. Oh, and also “black chrome” is the official color of the volume knob I believe. That’s what ESP uses on many of their models, I have that color hardware on one of my EC-1000s.

The colour looks very similar to an old MIM colour called Agave Blue. Googling the Teal Green metallic. It doesn’t look like the same colour to me. Could just be the lighting in the video though
@@littleredguitars2 I just checked my bad it was a completely different guitar all together. I will mention that I almost purchased one of his originals for 280 but back out as my mom didnt want to pay that much for something that looked worn. It was a pearl white strat no pickguard with the pine neck. It was right after the take off your pants and jacket tour in Phoenix, Az he threw it to the crowd. If I was older I would have bought it myself.
n Sj because they can, plus the configuration is really damn great for some good old Glam Metal if it has a floyd rose bridge haha. People dig those hideous “metal” guitars but as you say, each to their own. Les Pauls, Strats and Ibanez RGs will always be the standards for recording albums ;)
Funny enough for a long time I thought he had two guitars that looked like this one Teal Green Metallic and one Metallic Blue, maybe he does but I could be wrong 😕
Hey man how do you build these? Are they the same specs as his actual one? Would you sell me one or build me one? Im in sydney aus but will pay anything
Yo dude Could you build one for me? I'm looking for the gray one he used at Sydney big day out. I know that it has the same black hardware. I miss owning a TD strat!
I got a Tom Delonge Strat today and the pickguard is really aged and yellowed and I’m going to get a white pearl one to make it look like it originally did, I’m gonna get a pickguard on Amazon and there are two, which one did you get?
playing starts around 13:40
It was first date!! In early 2001 right before he finished his full sleeve!!
I've been looking for that tone all my life and I love how a stratocaster with an invader sounds

I have a classic vibe squire strat with the same color finish but maple fret board, Tom delonge style build sounds good
that black hardware looks so clean, beautiful guitar bro
Thanks for the shoutout man! By far the best one yet!!! Gorgeous.
I made my own surf green Tom Strat in a similar fasion! Great work dude!

Beautiful
Hey do you notice a difference when you build with American necks? I’ve felt a difference but wondering anyone else
Is there a difference in terms of playability, intonation and tone between this and a hardtail version?
What type of wood was the fretboard on this guitar?
Your so lucky you're right handed man
I agree. Lefties don't get enough love with instruments
Where could I buy one of those stickers from you?? I’ve been looking
Idk why anyone would want a blink 182 guitar but I do like the color. To each their own

Hi, what are the guitar specs for this fender strat?
What pedals can i use for blink 182 tone?
where are you selling it
Interested in selling looking for a delonge strat

Would you be willing to sell one of your delonge strat builds?
I dont have any to sell these days.
Hey. Do you have any stickers left to sell? thanks. Great build :)

tom's silver strat had chrome hardware actually. that being said i'm not taking on any jobs right now.

"Fender Modern Pickguard, Single Humbucker Stratocaster, 11-Hole - White Moto"
How much would it cost for you to build this exact guitar for someone? I love this color. Pls lmk
Hard to say. The color's fairly rare and dependent on the market for people selling that color body since I'm not willing to paint it myself

yes
Can i request a certain color ? How do i contact you ?

i think i mentioned it in the video but it was impatience really. ideally i would go 21 fret but it wouldve made it a much longer wait time.

I think it would be could to see you do a real build not just talk about it
