Its a really cool system imo. Seals just as well as pvc cement, requires no extra glues. Its a nice example of human ingenuity - basically using friction as a sealant

How long do we have wait before turning on the water with Pex expansion rings, 10 mins?

Where does the grease go for the tool?

A lot of people will *lightly* grease the expanding cone bit itself. Makes it easier to take in and out of the pex expansion ring

PEX A is tried and true, lol. Only current issue is with Uponor blue and red PEX A due to the process the used to add color to the pipe. Other brands seem to be unaffected.

They will not leak any more than a pvc pipe sealed with pvc concrete. You're not dissolving the plastic, but the friction between the expansion ring and the inner pipe is literally just as effective. Also, when there's flow going through the pipes, you know what happens? That inner tube expands *again*, making the fit EVEN BETTER than if it was dry.

Hard pass, I'll stick with crimp rings

I have seen crimp rings leak and the brass fittings corrode and break

Actually I said that too till I saw so many contractors in the area using it so I researched it and apparently it’s actually better than the good ole Mexican wedding bands 😂

Crimps are significantly more prone to failure. Just thing about the physics of the two systems. The piping that you slip the ring over actively expands when water goes through it, only tightening the seal. With a crimp tool, you're adding extra stress to the fitting when water runs through it due to how the pipes are necessarily situated.
