This adaptor I recently purchased used with my old Minolta lenses some 25-30 years saved Me thousands on overpriced Sony FE lenses and I dont have to support retailers profits
Hi, I am trying to get the LA-EA4 to work on my A6700 and Tamron SP90 Macro lens which worked fine on my A6300. When I try to use the adaptor with the A6700, I cannot set the camera to Autofocus. Is there a setting in the A6700 menu that needs to be set? The lens switch is set to AF.
Hello, unfortunately, this adapter does not work with the A6700. For the newer Sony cameras you need the new adapter LA-EA5. You can only set the aperture with the adapter.
2 questions. So i have the sony zve10 and a friend gave me the sigma 18-250 lens and just told me to get an adapter. Is this a good option for that lens and camera? Also that same lens have af so my question is if i get a manual adapter for a lens with af would it damage the lens or camera?
Thank you for your comment 👍 this adapter will also work with the sigma 18-250 on your ZV-E10. If you use it with a manual adapter, you won’t have auto focus and you must change the aperture and auto focus manually.
If the lens has its own focus motors get the LA-EA3 as that will let you use all focus points on the sensor. If your camera supports the LA-EA5, get that. It supports both screwdriven AF and lenses with their own focus motors. But do check if your camera supports the adapter.
@dawa5581 How is that possible? I asked a seller, and this is what they told me. " This lens itself does not have a ring to adjust the aperture." "The aperture feather moves without any problem when the interlocking pin on the mount side is operated." I don't want to buy the lens and be stuck using it wide open with a dumb adapter.
@@princeharbinger I think I get you wrong the first time. if you mount this lens on and manual adapter, you can change the aperture directly on the adapter and not on the lens. It’s works very good. But if you buy the Sony adapter, you can do all the lens-settings manually on the camera.
@dawa5581 Thank you. I looked into it. By any chance, would you happen to know how to adapt a Steinheil München -E- Cassarit f2.8 45mm for Braun Paxette - M39 Thread. I attached an m39 to m42 adapter ring to the thread of the lens. Than I screwed the lens into my K&F PRO M42 to NEX adapter. I'm not able to get infinity focus.
The earliest bodies in each tier on which the LA-EA5 will autofocus screw-drive lenses (so, almost every Minolta lens, most of the less expensive Sony A-mount lenses other than one of the DT kit lenses, but also the non-SSM Sony Zeiss 135 1.8 and 85 1.4) are the: - a6600 - a7 IV - a7R IV - a9 II - a1 ...and it works on the cameras in those tiers released since. It won't do screw-drive AF on any of the earlier bodies, or on any of the a7S bodies released to date, and it won't do it on an a7R III. And new bodies don't work with the LA-EA4 - I think the a7R IV and the a6600 are the only ones which work fully with both adapters.
Hi there, thanks for the video! I have a question, I am planning on buying a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 that is compatible with Sony a-mount, but I want to use it on a Sony a7 III with the Sony adaptor, will I have autofocus in video mode? (As I don't plan on using it for photos.)
hi, actually at least the LA-EA4 adapter puts the camera settings into P(rogram) mode when switched to video. So you lose control over shutter speed and possibly other parameters. With your native lenses you would select the framerate (24 fps, 30 fps etc. ) and the shutter speed double the framerate: 1/50, 1/60 and use an ND filter. But the A mount adapter removes that option.
@@meta4101 thank you for your comment, but I have also made a review about the LA-EA5 adapter. This adapter has some problems and works only on newer Sony cameras.
I use my old lenses also with a manual adapter.
Yes, it’s also a good alternative.
Are u able to use peaking color focus?

Thank you for your comment. You're right!
Does auto-focus work on video mode as well?
Thank you for your comment. Yes, but no eye AF.
I use sony a7 original, should I use ea4 with lens 135 f1.8 za? How does it compare to 135mm batis? please
Thanks for your comment. If you are happy with the lenses it is a very good solution. It will fit in any case.

what adapter is the best for A7III?
i buyed accidently a Tamron 70-300mm A-Mount. what adapter i should buy?
If you don’t mind an automatic autofocus you can use a manual adapter otherwise the LA-EA4 adapter makes a good job.

Yes you can do it manually.

Try LA-EA5. Focus perfomance will be better on A7R3.

la-ea5 doesn't work on cameras older than the A7m4, and also is actually slower to autofocus overall whether it is with the screw motor or the SSM
@@Laundry_Hamperthe a7m4 and a6700 don't work with la-ea4

It doesn't work for the new cameras anymore. Sony decided to discontinue support for this adapter in favor of LA-EA5.
I didn’t test it on an A7RV or an A6700, but on my A7IV it works very good.
I have this adapter for a long time. Just after watching your video I tried on my new Alpha 7C II and it said: not supported
@ thank you for your comment. 👍 This is a very important information.
@ What a weird decision by Sony. Did you try the LA-EA3 as well?
Does that mean that the LAEA4 is obsolete?
AF Does it work with a7iv(firmware 2.01)+LA-EA4+SAL75300?
Yes, it works with the new firmware.

The LA-EA5 is still the best option with the better AF performance.
