Where are these kids getting the money for these bikes.... probably the parents...yet the kids aren't riding safely...I see kids with no helmets, zooming at like 35+mph. The bikes are for off road use and yet they ride it in the street. The speed and adrenaline rush is great but once the kids get out of control with it then they'll learn their lesson when they get hurt or hit by a car if they aren't careful.
I agree with what you are saying, but you have to remember that standard bicyclists can ride at 35 mph. It's less about speed than it is about not riding following the laws already in place.
*You* are partly the problem when you don't refer to these machines as what they are, electric motorcycles. They are not ebikes. When you learn the definition of an ebike, you will have an opinion that means something.
These kids are having a blast and a lot of them have worked hard to earn the money to buy them. So consider stopping being an old fart and just leaving them alone

The city needs to come up with laws to regulate or at least make it illegal to do, willies in the middle of the road.. it’s a safety issue. If they issue citations to licensed motorcyclist for exhibition, then I think they should at least enforce or do the same with the e-bikers that are doing willies on the road. Exhibition is illegal with vehicles and motorcyclist then it should be illegal with e-bikes. Especially if the DOT hasn’t approved them for street usage.
There *are* traffic laws, and all bicyclists must comply with them. How can you not know that these aren't ebikes? They are electric motorcycles. Do you know the definition of an ebike in America and where it comes from? Ignorance is the problem here. Ignorance and a police force that doesn't care. It may be kids of the police causing the problem.
They already made new ebike laws. You cant have 2 people on it or ride on the side walk.
These bikes they're referring to do not have pedals and go 50 miles an hour. Isn't there a law against kids being on a bike that can go that fast?

As with any bicyclist anywhere, that doesn't fix the problem. The problem is that the police are allowing people to ride electric motorcycles on the roads without licenses, registration, or insurance. The other problem is that the uninformed don't know the difference between an electric bike and an ebike. Apparently, you don't.
The problem is if somebody else gets hurt trying to avoid them. These kids don’t have insurance to cover their liability.. like I do for my motorcycle. These aren’t bikes. They’re electric motorcycles.
PEOPLE NEED TO BE BUSTED FOR BREAKING THESE LAWS..... I've been mowing for a City for 13 years and always had time to look before turning around and know that I'm not going to hit someone, but now I Look and see nothing, but then I proceed to Turn and an E-Bike or E-Scooter goes flying behind me on the sidewalk going 30-40 MPH. NOT COOL!!!!....
This is everywhere!! I can tell you multiple stories about E-bikes .guy had hip and knee replacement, E-bikes allow him to ride for rehabilitation, if and when he feels any pain or discomfort, use electric option and avoid any injuries. Grandfather or father wants to ride w young people in family but knows that terrain is too hilly or mountains, distance too long E-bikes allow them to ride at their limits, doesn't have to be all or nothing. They can ride until they can't, use electric to rest and recover and continue. All the irresponsible use, ebike instead of motorcycles scenario is a thing and law enforcement and government don't have time and money to make a bunch of new laws, train police and public, just easier and cheaper to ban ebikes.
As long as they aren't on the sidewalk, they aren't putting anyone else in danger

That's pretty crazy that when the video starts they show this girl pulling way out into the lane as she comes out of a driveway. That is not how you bike. There's no parked cars in front of her, so she doesn't need to put herself out in the middle of the lane. Terrible example.

Lots of licensed motorcyclists died on road recently. Are they going to ban motorcycles. DOT supports ebikes. They help pay 20% for every ebike purchase.

the state should make another place to ride e-bikes/dirtbikes near kapolei or something because Kahuku motocross track is the only legal place but the drive is too far

While they’re at it crack down on all the E-bikes, E-skate boards. E-stand up scooters, E-hover, one Wheel Scooter riders that rode illegally in pedestrian sidewalks. They travel at high speeds with no care for pedestrians safety. HPD officers could reach their ticket quotas in not time if they are allowed to do so in these circumstances.
The group they showed are not the traditional e-bikes. Those are electric motorcycles. The majority of people with an actual E-bike are not the problem.

I think she wants that the checks and balances are for punishing illegal operation of ebikes (checks) but balancing the leftist tendency to ban ebikes.
Too often, leftists think that if something can be used for evil or harm, the only proper solution is to ban it.
Checks and balances is not specific to the constitution. It applies in a lot of different circumstances.
I’m in my mid fifties, retired disabled veteran who rides an e-bike to get my exercise. I tend to ride in eco mode at around 10-13mph. I worry all these young kids are going to do dumb things and cause them to regulate what I enjoy most in life. I have pedals and torque sensor, 750 watt and am very well versed in the law. Won’t matter if lawmakers decide they need their tax money.
My speed down hill sometimes 25 mostly flat 5-8 mph in pedal assist to build strength in leg also helps back also . This is paved bike walk path . For improving alertness and awareness of balance pedal as slow as possible helps balance. I learned that in the 1960’s. we had challenges how slow without putting feet down .
Come Waianae. The cops would make a killing here giving out tickets and confiscating

They just aren’t enforcing this in a lot of cities, but they will laws will have to change as they get more popular. You have to have registration insurance, etc. to operate a 50 Cc moped so obviously you do for these bikes cause they go faster in some cases and can cause just as much property damage

The only place you can really ride them is the Motocross track, but you are not allowed on the track without, at the very least, boots, helmet, and goggles.

I can say in Utah that we have ZERO infrastructure for safe biking and e-biking. No decent bike paths to get around town.

750watts is Equal to 1hp. 1hp must be able to lift (straight up) 550lbs , one foot it one second (no way can those E-bikes do that)

Good to see enforcement instead of outright ban. My city outright banned ALL bicycles on highways, (not interstates that was already not allowed) but the antique federal highway system that functions as a primary collector street with front facing businesses and sidewalks all up and down the coast. It’s now impossible for anyone not in a car to get around
That's a real downer. I would love to see more bike lanes and dedicated bike routes here in the islands. The distances are short enough in most cases that we could lower our dependence on automobiles.
Actually not the proper way to ride a bicycle of any type you should never go that far into occupied lane of traffic when turning a corner because it gives drivers more chance to run you over and say it not there fault because you got in front of them

When you ride on the street don't use your hands to signal because people in the cars don't know what that means they think your just waving at them or airing out your palms I ride bikes all the time and when I want to cross the street I look back because doing the arm signal really don't work I've tried that multiple times and almost got hit so I just look back and feel more safe

You are riding on the road with other vehicles if other people on the road can get a ticket so can a kid riding a e-bike on the roadways. They are impeding traffic taking up all the lanes only to move into a single lane doing tricks modifying the bike to go over the set speed limit for e-bikes if any adult did any of this behind a wheel they would get pulled over so fast.
