That’s cute that you love ELO …. I’m about to see them in all places Milwaukee in concert - ROAD TRIP with my 16 year old that looooves them. They are very unique. It’s great seeing a young man like you experiencing different music from the past. I was too young to enjoy it until I discovered them later on. I love ELO and I feel so privileged in their lifetime (and mine) that I get the opportunity to see them live in concert with my youngest daughter. I asked her what is your favourite ELO song and she said Tightrope … oh man you’re not joking that you like this band because that’s not necessarily a well known song by them. Jeff Lynne (who was born in my home City of Birmingham, UK) is a fantastic musician and producer. E.L.O. have loads of great songs, my favourite being 'All Over The World' which is such a happy song. They sound just as good (if not better) live than they do on the studio versions.
Isn’t it funny today when people first hear 70,s music the jaw drop because of how good it really was. Today with rap Taylor,Swift and the rest people think it was only disco. Really it was a great time for music then and I lived it in its glory. Thanks for bringing back the joy!!!!
Check out ELO's "Last Train to London",and "Its a living thing". ELO. Was so ahead of the times musically.They do some brilliant things with those stringed instruments. Jeff Lynne's voice gives me chills, and at the same time soothes my soul.
I was just now thinking about all the things you said in your reaction, about liking background vocals and just different Arrangements of instruments and mixing it up and trying different things, making it diverse. And I don't know how familiar you are with the beatles, who by the way heavily influenced Jeff Lynne of Elo in fact he worked with Paul McCartney on some stuff after the Beatles broke up, but that is the perfect band for you, it's a decade earlier in the 1960s and they changed from really simple live four-piece band driving stuff in the early 60s to being so Innovative and that's why they became iconic. Every song is different. Especially as you get into the middle and later. They broke up around 1970 so they had about a decade of stuff. And then they all had interesting solo careers after that. But I know you would just love them. And they have such a huge catalog and they're all different! If you don't like one try another one. It's just down the rabbit hole for sure. But they absolutely have all the qualities you were mentioning and there's a reason why they were such a huge name. I have seen a lot of Beatles reactions and I can tell that for whatever reasons, they very often get blocked. And I know it can be frustrating. But on the other hand I've seen a ton of them. And then some reactors even without all that many followers managed to just do reaction after reaction without it ever being blocked. So who knows. I just know you'd love it. Pardon me if I'm preaching to the choir and you're already super familiar with them. And again, I probably should have looked to see if there was a playlist, I came to this by your playlist for this band ironically. So oh wait a minute I did see, it seems like you had maybe two Beatles songs? Or one Beatles song and a feature or something. But anyway I was going to say you should also really really check out Elvis presley. His early stuff is great from the mid 50s when he's very very young and it's so old and he has three four piece with a vocal backing group called The Jordan airs which were fantastic and they are in so many recordings from back then and part of live performances but Elvis loved them and used them a lot. But later when you get into the around 1970 or so, he's got this huge huge band with two different vocal choirs and he arranges everything and he manages all this and they practice their asses off and then he does these live shows like at Vegas and it's got everything, tons of amazing backing vocals and so many instruments and it all just worked so well together because he was a brilliant arranger.

My oldest son broke me out of hospital twice to see ELO, once to see them in Hyde Park in 2014 and also to sit in a muddy field at Glastonbury in 2016. It was two different hospitals for two different injurie's at the end of my service career. It was always great to see Jeff Lynne's ELO live, even if it meant having to face my wife's anger afterwards. This song reminds me of how much I loved talking to my family when I was posted over seas.

Oh ya, I remember back in the day, long distance calls went through the operator and she determined how many times it got to ring on the other end. E-L-O was am icon back in the day, easy listening rock, lights down low with your girl in your lap. I was 18 when that song came out. If we wanted to get our rock on, we'd kick up some Bob Segar, Deep Purple, Foghat, but you just couldn't beat chilling with E-L-O.

Meatloaf opened for them, then Peter Frampton performed. They got launched from a spaceship on stage what a concert. A great reaction Sir. There is a superb live version of this in front of 60,000+ at Wemley Stadium, London as recent as 2017 with Jeff Lynne in his 70s. "Tightrope" by E.L.O. is a must... Heck, what am I saying, all E.L.O. production's are a must👍😊

When you mentioned that you like songs with unusual choices of instruments, it made me think of "For Your Love" by The Yardbirds. It has harpsichord in it. Check it out.
There are a lot of good songs from this album. Please check out Tightrope, So Fine, Do Ya and Livin' Thing. They all incorporate rock with orchestra and are smooth...
