    I don't use a dropper, but more silver components is always good.

    YES to those inner bar ends. Another use case for that hinge (and the one I care most about) is to allow it to be used on a handlebar like an Albatross where the more aggressive bend in the bar means using a regular bar end is a no-go.

    I love the idea of the dropper. Having setback with a brooks is always needed. Maybe you’ll start a revolution of mechanical spring actuated droppers! I hope that they can be highly serviceable. If that’s the case, I’ll buy one tomorrow.

  • @williamwyoming

    I like the dropper idea. All my gravel-ish bikes are 27.2 and would like to set up one with a dropper. Silver is always welcome....I get tired of black components, silver much more classy

    Similar to the old Gravity Dropper, but in silver. Nice. I’ve arrived at a point where every bike I own should have a dropper post

    I've been searching for clamp-on bar ends forever! I have the Uno bar end shifter already and the Uno thumb shifter arriving soon. Keep the thoughtful products coming!

    Both products are very cool. Now that I’m a rolling relic, I could find use for the bar end thingies to add positions to flat bars that I might use on dirt roads er gravel. I wouldn’t descend hills steep enough, often enough on my 27.2 bikes but love the idea (silver & spring). I have a Joplin 4 on my mtb that requires factory service!

    A silver 27.2 dropper has been on my wishlist for a couple of years, so long as the price is competitive. I've de-anodized and polished a few parts on my gravel bike, including my T8000 pedals, RedShift stem, and even disc brake adapters. I'm pleased with how they worked out, though time will tell how long the shine will last.
    I'll keep an eye on this space.

    Glad to hear progress being made on an all silver dropper. somas last attempt at a spring dropper used a cyclinder to set in two cut out on the stanchion. Only took a few quick minutes for mud to get all inside and it was done. This looks like a better implementation of the idea. Also double love the setback, havent had that on a dropper since old specialized droppers.

    Yes to the dropper - as silver, and as short, as you can make it!

  • @Likelybiking
    @Likelybiking 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Yes to the bar ends!
    Such a great idea!
    And I like the idea of the dropper.
    I don’t have any bikes with silver components at the moment but there should be an option!
    I’m not loving the indexed part of the dropper.
    It would be cool if there was indents the whole way up so you can stop it anywhere.
    Also I’m sure it would be too much to make. But there should be different lengths available

  • @VeloObscura

    I don't care about the color, but a reliable coil dropper would interest me. I've always wanted a dropper for long distance bikepacking/touring, but having wrecked 3 droppers on my MTB so far, I'm just not willing to rely on in a very remote location.

    Spirgrips is another company that sells inner bar "ends". Their products have a hinged clamp and are ergonomic in shape rather than just tubular. Some models even have inserts to absorb shock and vibration. Took a chance a few years back and bought them for my flatbar bike. I've used them ever since. Your idea of interchangeable and custom-adjustable grips is very intriguing.

  • @patrickperez8201
    @patrickperez8201 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had a specialized command post circa 2010 that had preset slots like you are describing and I think it is a superior design because you know exactly what you are getting when you adjust your post instead of readjusting.
    One thing I liked in particular is the middle adjustment was about 80% upwards through the travel which gives pedaling efficiency and just enough clearance, whereas 50% may have not done either well enough.
    This might not apply well to the small travel amounts on a gravel dropper but thought I should mention it.

    That first one looks fantastic - I put some new bars on my MTB today, in place of a bar that had a "loop" on the front. I'm really missing the loop already, and was planning to go looking for some bar ends. Will now wait for yours to launch though, being able to add/remove them for different kinds of rides/tours would be ideal.
    The dropper looks interesting, but all my modern bikes have black kit on them, so that would rule me out (at least for the foreseeable).

  • @chrisjong8412
    @chrisjong8412 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The part that the dropper would be outfitted with a spring and be more reliable is an amazing idea, I would start to make them also in 31.6 and in black. And a titanium spring for the wieght weenies 😉

  • @rorysantaloci7937
    @rorysantaloci7937 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That bar extension could also be used for putting rohloff twist shifter on stuff

  • @rmdownton
    @rmdownton 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is super cool. You could use an internal expanding collet system for infinite height adjustment, and the tension on the spring would keep the post in place.
    While it's not silver, i think you should just do raw suspension anodizing on the stanchion. Think that pale grey or gold on old Fox or Marzocchi forks. It's all mostly that black anodizing treatment these days, but the color reduces the durability, and increases friction, compared to that colorless or raw surface treatment.
    Also, a kit to do external cable actuation instead of the lever would be extremely excellent.

    I use a gravity dropper super simple coil spring dropper post. Similar concept. Just 3 settings. I love, love, love it for gravel. Don’t care about color. I’d rather have discrete settings than continuous (which I have on my MTB).

    Oooo a silver dropper. Yes! I customised my gravel bike’s dropper to silver..which I admit is a big step for purely aesthetic reasons, yet it is nuts that this is not a ‘thing’ on the market..so go for it.

    Ha, just recently had the idea of putting my old bar ends on my ritchey comp kyote because I thought it might work. It did and is awesome, but I actually first put them on the wrong way around and so had to un- and reinstall my components twice.

    I would be interested in your coil spring dropper post in 27.2. I like the possibility of using it on my collection of older steel frame MTB frames. LOVE the low maint coil and the reasonable setback. I like the silver color option, too

  • @andyzacek9760

    The more I think about it, a 20mm dropper post would be kind of useful. I like to string long rides together with short sections of singletrack/trails on my road bike. I often walk the trails but I can imagine that some of them will be just barely rideable with a little bit more taint clearance. That said, I would absolutely never pay for an extra complex heavy seatpost on my bike, which I work hard to keep reliable and lightweight.

  • @guardian_ironworks
    @guardian_ironworks 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would absolutely use that dropper. I have 2 modern retro styled road bikes From State bicycles that run a 27.2 seatpost and anything but silver components don't look right, so I'd buy at LEAST 1 for each bike.
    Id also definitely go for those bar ends on my mountain touring rigs, especially on my fat bike. Those would open up SOOOO many options ive been wanting for AGES.

  • @robbchastain3036

    I totally like the plated dropper concept, looks perfect for gravel/adventure and yes, plated everything for me but maybe that's because we had it that way with BMX components out of the gate. And as far as bar ends, I'm still wondering why real bar ends at the end of bars fell out of favor. Short, straight ends set parallel to the ground replicate road bar hoods and I still like them.

  • @509bunnyhaven

  • @Chungleas
    @Chungleas 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love the hinged clamp extension, a loop bar might be good. Not Sure about a silver dropper, pretty but how many aesthetes are really ready to pay for it?
    I still have an original X-fusion Hilo, 27.2 with the option of an under saddle lever or a bar lever, still working well over a decade after I got it (had two new seal kits in that time though). I think a rebuildable, user serviceable dropper would be a big selling point, too many of the modern ones are throwaway components (a hard to obtain sealed gas strut in a tube basically)...

    I would love a simple silver dropper post if it is long enough (like 400mm) for my 27.2 ti fat bike. Also, as long as it would work in cold temperatures. If it meets that, i am a customer for sure. I would even take it in black.

  • @jasoncbrooks74
    @jasoncbrooks74 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All components should be made in at least black and silver! Both products seem like good ideas and fill a niche but not so narrow it wouldn’t be profitable. I really like the self contained lever actuated seat post, no extra cables or controls, provides convenience for a multitude of uses and keeps cost down.

  • @charlesblithfield6182
    @charlesblithfield6182 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The silver dropper is interesting. I recently bought a dropper and didn’t like the fact that it had to be black. Silver components are awesome because they have a retro look so making a modern tech item in silver seems like a good idea. I got a Coast suspension dropper BTW - I like the ability to drop the seat but absorbing big shocks was also wanted.

    • @rollinrat4850
      @rollinrat4850 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How long have you had the Coast and how has it held up? Is the saddle clamp easy to adjust accurately? Have you had to do anything to it besides adding air. I dig suspension posts due to back issues. A dropper would be nice, but I've ridden well without one for about 50 years.

  • @andyamos8594
    @andyamos8594 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I use a dropper and use it only at 0 or 100%, never had the inclination to stop it midway. If it was just all the way up or down I'd be happier, especially if its lever controlled at the saddle, I could find the stutter annoying at best, dangerous at worst. Spring instead of gas and oil, now that is genius simple and gets my vote!! Silver, interesting for the retro look but price is the ultimate hurdle.

    Rather than even spacing between the stops on the dropper, the first stop should be 15 to 20 mm below full height. This is for surfaces too rough or changeable to be comfortable at full height, but where plenty of pedaling is still required. My hydraulic droppers spend plenty of time in this range on rough surfaces, undulations and even technical climbs where getting a foot down is more important than getting power down most efficiently. Just about any steel hardtail frames more than 10 years old runs a 27.2 post too, so it's not just for gravel bikes.

    The dropper is definately appealing … working in the bike industry I have spoken to a lot of customers who wanted a dropper not for Mountainbiking but rather for the ease of jumping on the bike and for waiting on traffic lights 😂
    Not sure about the inner bar ends - had SQ Labs at some point in the past - didnt worked for me🤷

  • @catdogfishcake
    @catdogfishcake 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would buy the extension mounts if they were just for the narrower main part of mtb handlebars (22.2?) but with the shims it's gonna be too chonky to do a continuous bar tape wrap.
    I already use some vintage bar ends that have a plug type extension that have quite thin clamps (but no hinge) on one set of bars but I would like to put some short extensions on my jones loop bars so a hinge is required.
    I think the best thin clamp design would be the old steel band & tension plate you get on road levers & old suntour friction shifters, you could have different steel bands for different bar diameters, though I don't know why anyone would ever put extensions near the bar clamp area.

    Inner bar ends , I just purchased an accessory holder that uses two clamps for attachment to the bar without HB removal. I am modifying to make a grip a couple inches above the bar. Too bad your product concept wasn't available. Let me suggest that you try to accommodate some odd bar shapes that are present in carbon right after the stem junction. They are not always perfectly round as the emerge from the stem clamp as the morph into the bar shape.
