We've had ours almost a year so far. I installed ours outside in the ceiling of our open porch and it works great!! I get a great view of our front door and the walkway leading to it. Daytime image is sharp as a tack. We have a separate wall light fixture near the front door that lights up the porch at night, so the camera's night image is very good!!. You just need to make sure you get the right product for the right situation.
I'm not sure what model yours is but on the Amazon site it lists the LaView L2 2K camera as being "waterproof" and they show a picture of it in the rain. You'd be better off putting it in the fixture with the jelly jar glass so that the LEDs hang below the fixture. v Also, I don't know how the Nest system works but I have a TP-Link mesh network and I'm able to give my 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels a unique name so setup is much easier for peripheral devices.
Thanks for you comment. I bought mine in late March this year. At that time I did not find an outdoor version but now see there is one, so thank you. Mine is not waterproof and is indoor, thus the rigging up of it. I was not able to find the glass fixture to use though I did try. I will look again for both the camera and cover for it. Unfortunately, I have had this problem with my Google Nest Mesh system on most items i have set up. I have not figured out how to get to the 2.4 setting during setup. I have researched but will check again. Have a great day.
I installed 2 light bulb cameras outside 2 different back doors … using rain shields from the hardware store. Round and black rubber … found in the roofing Dept. This works great!
That's great. I am about to release a review of mine. Curious, have you had any winter weather with yours? I was wondering if cold temperatures could have an impact on.
@@lostinthe60s I have not had it long enough yet to tested in the winter time. Not to mention last winter was so mild here in the mid Atlantic area that it would not have been a good test time anyway. I’m trying to reach out to LaView now I’m having a tough time getting my one lightbulb camera online. I was successful with one. I have no idea what I’m doing with the other. But I just think I have to start from scratch again. Anyway, thank you !!
i'm about to do a review after several months. I have to admit it has grown on me quite a bit. It looks like there are a couple of things that are a minor issue but overall its really good. Glad you are enjoying it.
@lostinthe60s the most annoying thing is the add that pops up when I go to check my camera . Doesn't do it everytime but when I hear a noise and want to check camera real quick it gets annoying.
@@gjpopper3863 I think it's reprehensible that the vendor does that; I bought their security products, now have to wait for some stupid ad while attempting to use the security product for what it was designed for.
Your headline for this test as well as your test are wrong. You tested it with a fixture that you shouldn't have used unless the manufacturer told you it was O.K. We did make the same mistake, using the same glass fixture from Lowes, and of course, it didn't work. Once we removed it has worked very well. It's very sensitive The problem I have is with the videos which do not record properly if you want to export them. Microsoft tells you that you are missing a code and you need to buy a special app from them to repair it. I was able to play it with WhatsApp after much manipulation. I requested help from LaView customer service but I have had no response.
Thank you for your comment. I agree with most of your comments. I knew what I was doing was not correct for the LaView product I was using and in fact mentioned it several times. It was my attempt to figure out a way to do a workaround and see how the product worked. I just downloaded a video from my camera and it played on my Android phone. I haven't tried to export it yet. I always appreciate comments like yours as it helps make sure I am being accurate and constructive. I am very appreciative of your input. Thank you.
I dont have a downward pointing bulb except the front porch and the switch turns on several lamps.. cant keep it on 24 hrs....lol im not able to use this camera.. unless i do a make shift e6 bulb holder setup ..what a shame
Most security products do not support WPA3. Most also run on 2.4Ghz. So, drop back to 2.4 Ghz and WPA2. Now, many routers are both 5 Ghz and 2.4 GHZ under the same SSID, and in most cases, this is not an issue. But WPA3 will make it unable to connect. I have two routers currently ( recently switched ) . One has distinct settings, either WPA2 or WPA3. The older one- has settings for WPA3 only, WPA2 Only, WPA3 +WPA2, etc. .. One is a $125 router, the other closer to $450. I suspect that the cheaper router you have has WPA2 support only, and the problematic one - may be set to WPA3. There are many things wrong in your specific installation; the camera portion needs to be BELOW the bottom of the glass; you can get a bulb extension to drop it down 2 or 3 inches. Being where it is at currently makes it pointless as a bulb light; or even with the infra-red emitters. IF you had external lighting, it'd be a different story; but pointless as a "bulb light" .. The bulb light camera's are VERY poorly put together; they are NOT weatherproof; these devices need to be UNDER some sort of weather shield like your latest glass thing; but in order for the camera / regular light / infrared light to work - it has to be BELOW the edge of the sconce.. Reality is that this product is built for inside use, and marketed as for outdoor use as long as the bulb is PROTECTED from the elements.
Not sure. Is it connected to your network? If it won't even power on, it seems like it could be defective. As long as you have power going to it, you should at least have it powered up.
I receive a notification on my phone and on my Galaxy watch when triggered. I have not looked at Alexa doing that. I know I can "show LaView" and get a live view of the camera.
I have never had this happen. Can you see what the signal strength is? That's all I can think of. I have a mesh system and one of my points is a bit close to the LaView.
Sad that you try to get clicks by bashing a product that is 90% your setup fault. With basic understanding of how things work these cheap cameras are amazing for the money and do a great job.
So sorry. I tried to make sure to advise I was not using it as intended and in fact had rigged it up myself. I do agree that this does work very well especially for the price. To all, I am not trying to get clicks and in fact did not use the product as intended from LaView.
Not just you. Same here and more. For night mode one would think smart mode and infrared would be better. Found the color night mode does much better. The main problem for me is trying to play saved video from the gallery. Saves thumbnail but error comes up [play failed 100 ] Six emails back and forth with laview no help. You are correct that since its an indoor camera it shouldn't get wet. I have been fortunate so far that the glass covering has worked but now its time for winter!
