I bought this exact camera and use the same app, I use the free SD card it came with and chose to save to SD instead of subscribing to the cloud service, so far no issues.

@eddielai8831, this Lightbulb Camera is very popular because it can be powered from a light socket. No special wiring. It can also be manually turned for an angle of capture without WiFi and the App for the folks are afraid of being hacked. Eddie you should look at some of my other video about the camera on my youtube camera. I have about 4 or 5 that cover the secrets, the memory card and operation. I discovered more things as time goes on and published what I found. Enjoy the many options of your camera.

I saw another video where a guy had a similar unit that after a few days it cut off from his Wi-Fi and he had to buy a subscription to keep it working. Had to agree to their terms and he said to read the whole thing because he found out they can keep your data. I hope this one doesn't do this to you.
The video sett can be set to record all the time or only when motion is detected. I set mine to all the time. When I want to see video for a certain time period, I pull the memory card and look for the time period. To move through video quickly, just click on play cursor for video and drag at a faster speed than regular play. Amazing how fast you can look at 4 hours of video like that. Good luck. Use the Wi-Fi connection when it is just watching your house and not you.
I've just entered the realm of door cams. I liked how much I learned which is a lot. Thank you for all the little nuances, like the SD card going in at a slight angle. But this was a great learning exercise and I appreciate your doing it.
I assume every wifi cam has similar or the same features and handling /manual May you please explain about requirements .. and setting differences, the signals' way in the web system? I have HD IOT cam with USB., ROUTER or NET optionally, at this time.
In the upper right of camera view, click on the little gear symble. That is the settings tab. Look for Motion detection and click it on. You can set low to high sensor. I go for medium.

That wiring is the part I was hoping to see and you skipped it! LOL! Someone said you could hook it up to a battery as well if you didn't want to mess with your house electric wiring. Have you tried that? I want to hook another one up but don't have any more light sockets available. I thought I could try the wiring bit...but I don't know exactly how to go about that. I know you have to turn the circuit breaker off tho! ;o)
@chrinamint here is a simple answer to your need for a light socket that you can mount and cord and plug are attached. The socket base type is called E26. You can search for other types of sockets and pick what works. Here is link to one I suggest on Amazon. amzn.to/3JBPMly
@@samowens44 they sent one with me with each of my light bulb cameras that I bought but there were no instructions on how to use that part. The little instruction thing only talked about setting the camera up with the app and everything. All these people that are splitting wires and hooking them on there I don't know about that kind of stuff.
Continuing. Can't get past Register. Try to set up again and the chime doesn't play to start the setup again. The unit dies. The BCCA....................... tag never comes back.

@@eleanormassaro5195 the memory card is the microSDXC. They are most popular for cameras. I use a 64 GB size. Also, if anything happens,there is no fixing the cam. Just get another. They are around $30.

Start reading the instruction and the contract you might be surprised what you find out about it. You could end up being charged a bunch of money to use it and they get to keep your data
@Dale Gray, thanks for your comments. I have had my camera for a few months now and have not had any problems. I use it with my Wi-Fi disabled for access to camera. I don't turn my whole WiFi off, only access for the camera. The camera will record video outside my house and store on memory card. If I want to control or control the camera, I turn on Wi-Fi and turn it off when I don't care about controlling the position of cam view. I have had no charges or contact from the company about charges. No I do not sign up for cloud services. I would never do that as they have access to your info. My camera is safe for me the way I use it. I only have my camera monitoring the outside of my house, not my bedroom, bathroom or any of the private areas of inside my house. I think that is what most people are afraid of hackers viewing their privacy. The cloud is another place to say away from and you do not require it to use the camera. Hope my experience will help folks understand the range of uses and security you can use and have fun with this camera. It tracks cars going down the street and people walking. The fun camera I have owned.
My micro SD card fell into the inner guts of the camera! (There is a gap between the card holder and the camera, so be careful). I was able to retrieve the SD card by removing the three little screws and opening it up. (Cool tech inside). Anyway, it's working now.
Gold pins facing down and towards the base of the camera. It will only 'click-in' one way. Although it does take a precise touch using your fingernail (or other tool) to get the card in deep enough to engage the locking mechanism.
@brucequintana6619, yes, it does seem that the camera does not want to easily capture code. I found, move around to different lighting conditions, then you move the camera in and out twisting as you move in in and out. It may take several attempts, but you will get it soon, just try other areas, too much light I found causes trouble. Good luck, I know you will get it now! I am with you!!
You meet the Yi Lot app on your cell phone and link your Wi-Fi router to the app and camera. Once set up you can use it without Wi-Fi to capture video and view video from card placed in computer.
@Just Vlog Everythiing, yes, with memory card in computer, delete away. I do it all the time. The camera will write over the oldest files when the card fills up from recording, so you don't have to delete.
No there are no demands for subscriptions or even the cloud service. I have had mine since July and I just use it with no demands with anything. I don't know where these hearings are coming from.

There is an app that is required to work with the camera. All apps need to create an account. That does not mean a credit card is needed. You need to create a user name and password. If you have not worked with creating an app account, get someone to help you.

No, it only works with the App on your Cell phone. You have no options to download the app to a PC. The only way to operate the camera is through the App.
@jamesbronson2247, yes you can mount upside down and the video will be upside down, but, you have an option on the the main screen of the App upper right hand side to turn the video over 180 degrees. I use this option all the time.
You repeat several times that you have "signed up", but... at no time do you say WHAT you actually have signed up to ! That's quite interesting. So, here are people somewhere on the other side of the globe, who actually take control of a camera you just installed in YOUR home, and who ask you to... "sign up" into... something they don't tell you anything about ;-) Isn't such a deal kind of strange ? If I understand correctly, it looks like you need their server for your camera to work. And their server needs to know about you -- but you don't know anything about their server ;-) If that is the way it works, what data do they collect about you camera ? How do they use it ? What would happen to your camera if that company suddenly went down ? Or... have I completely missed the point of the "signup' ?
@dlaloux8491 sorry if you did not understand about "sign up", let me explain in a little more detail. Now viewing the video again, at the point I open the instruction booklet, I say we need to down load the App. That is the key thing that tells you that the camera is controlled by an App. All Apps, you have to create an account, that is called Sign up. Once you follow the button for Sign up, you need to create a user name and password so only you can access the App. Once you Sign up, latter you will "Sign In" to the app. You will use the user name and Password you just created. I point the sign up because you can not sign in until you have signed up for the App. This was supposed to be my way of not letting you get confused and try to sign in before signing up. Looks like I created a bigger misunderstanding for you, sorry. You are signing up for the App. All Apps work this way and no this is not a place on the other side of the world. You access the app from you cell phone so the app is Ok. Now if you do not know how to download the App, we have a lot more to talk about, let me know and I will explain that in detail.

How do I change the language to English can you give me a little assistance? I'm not sure what state that you're located in I'm in New Jersey and I wanted to know how do I change the setting ? 5:30 when you sign up do you have to put your router password into the app so the cameras have access to the wifi? How does that part work? Is that the software password? Or do you have a original password for the app and put in the router password in a different area of the app?
It did wierd things to my WiFi during set up. Only option for a Web cloud is Chinese, don't get naked in front of it... Not Private! Not water proof. I took it apart for parts, uses cheap 24BYJ48 steppers that won't last a week. Not Recommended.
Thanks for your input. I did not have problems with my unit, you could return a product you are no satisfied. Working with different Wi-Fi can present problems with a lot of products.
I just got on from Walmart the other day for $23.00 I got one for my front porch Is it anyway to make the light brighter. It is so dim. I change the lighting to color and that didn't work. It's dim and at night you can't really see anything when you go outside or on when you check your phone through the camera If I can't get the light any brighter I was thinking just drill it like you did, and put it next to my porch light, but then I would need some kind of power for it to work outside. Any suggestions would be appreciated
@MLynette Pinky, I hope you are just being funny or if you are serious, I am going to explain the Light Bulb Camera features. I primary feature is to capture video and can track motion when motion feature is set in the settings. It has inferred lighting for night video capture. It does have a bright light that you can activate to light up the area, or have it to come on automatic is an alert is triggered. The light I featured may be different than the one you got from Walmart, mine does not have any colored light settings. Anyway, it is not the correct product if you want to use it as a night light for your front porch. I suggest you take it back and get a regular light bulb to use for proper lighting that you state you want. Thanks for commenting.
@d.Morris9313 first have your camera close to your Wi-Fi router. See if you can control the camera rotation and control up and down. If it works, your camera does not receive a strong enough signal. This camera needs to be within 30 feet or less for good control. Also, the more walls and obstacles the signal goes through, you will have operational control issues. I use a Wi-Fi extender to give a better camera performance. You link the extender to your Wi-Fi signal an place the extender close to camera. That will extend the 30 ft to 60 ft range. If this is not the problem get the cam close to the Wi-Fi and reset up camera.
I have tried numerous times connecting this camera, mine I think is a dud ones, it does not move, does not tilt but makes the sounds and the lights flashes, had to delete and download the apps a few times and enter the id, to no avail 🤔, once I have put in details of wifi as such, tries to connect but has to go to register and I tried to tap, it says invalid 🤔🤔 I thought once you download the app it will tell you to register but it did not, what am I doing wrong 😑😑🤔🤔
I believe it's a scam company. I ordered some myself and trying to get a refund with no avail. They don't answer email or phone. So I'm reporting them as a scam to my credit card company!
There is a flashlight icon to the right of the App camera view screen. Tap on it and you will see auto, open and close. Click on open. To turn off, click on close.
@@samowens44 I was told by Keilini that I could have the data saved directly to my computer without the SD memory card. I cannot find the software nor the directions to match the camera to my computer. Iaasume it would be done via my home wifi?
@@lynnmallery5385 The App YI Lot is the control software for the Camera. It is the only thing other than the memory card that will capture and store video. It is just easy to put the Memory card in your computer and view the video. You can do that without using wifi or the app.
The camera is wifi connected. A company locking out or making it extremely convoluted if not impossible to use your own NAS storage for video footage and pushing you instead to use their own overpriced cloud solution that states right in their agreement that they get to keep your data is super scummy. Plus this is a smart lightbulb making it super easy to steal means if you don't use the cloud you lose any recordings on the device. And who wants to have to go out to collect the SD card every so often if the camera is installed in a hard to reach place to prevent it getting stolen? this is a big nope from me for purchasing.

@@samowens44 i found that part in your video but i cant get the security camera to scan the qr code. is it supposed to have a red light or something? it is flashing the blue lights inside and it makes the noises like yours does but when it tells me to have the camera scan the code it does nothing
Make sure your camera and cell phone are on the same wiFi. If cellphone is on Cellular data it will not connect. I think this may be the problem. Good luck.
@williamburdon6993, if you are buying cloud service for the Camera, you will have to pay somehow. If you are just using the camera without cloud, no credit card is need, tell them to buzz off.
@tayro yes and it shows a range of 110 _ 220V. A lot of products have a voltage regulator that allow for a range of operating voltage. Other countries have 220V as household voltage.
@@samowens44 Yea well running 220 v mains in a cheap Chinese toy... So I gutted mine and found you can remove the power supply board, mains lead and use it's low v wiring. Run the 5v low wires to an S2 LiPo charger/5v buck converters output. Connected the S2 boards input to a barrel connector. Pulled the lower motor out and ground down the plastic shaft it mated with. Drilled holes to bolt the ears of the motor to. Then made a shaft that I epoxied in the Edison connector to remount the now upside down motor on and fixed the two batts and charger to the body of the motor. The barrel connector comes out the side of the camera mount and the lower motor can now spin in an endless circle. I fill it's safer maybe more versatile. Planning to run the numbers on the chips and see if I can make it do what I want it to do instead of what China hoped it would do. Wish me luck. Or IDK do you have any advice? Is it possible to flash from mem card? If you know how it would help. BTW If it matters my preferred language is C++ Ubuntu. Lets make Chinese garbage usable.
I would shake the bulb and see if you can rotate the bulb as you shake it. The camera may work fine with the card in there if yo can’t get it out. Get another card and be careful.
After trying every possible option to connect to the camera, after listening to the lady screaming at me to hold my phone steady 15-20 cm away from camera to get QR code and never getting one... after many other obstacles, I used the reset button and gently placed this piece of trash in the garbage bag. At least this one wasn't expensive....
@Nick Perez, well, this is the micro card and it is the most popular mem card that I did not think it a problem when I created this video. I will tell you, the location is the slot on the bottom of the camera. Now the slot is tilted, so the card does not go straight in, it has a tilt, with a corner that will stick up more on the outside part of the bottom of the camera. You place the colored side away from the lens of the camera and push in slowly finding the path and at one point you will find it and be able to push and feel tension. Push on the tension and it will go in and stop, then slowly let go and it will stay. You do have to explore the correct path as it is something you have to feel and can not watch someone do it. Only old style porch lights hang down, new homes aren't like that , so it can't be placed right side up than in wall mounted outside light's on your porch?
@bearams6945, you can mount it upside down. The video will be upside down, but there is a button in top of App screen view the will turn the video normal. It is a half circle with arrow on each end. Click it and your video will be right side up. Good Luck.
@@samowens44 Yes on my app it is called flip. If you did have to put the camera upside down,or in a lamp or something, you can flip the view so that the image would be, right side up. I dont have the same camera or use the same app he does, but they all seem similiar. I have mine installed, only to view the outside of my house. Didnt get them for inside view. Haven't had to buy any subscription to continue using mine either.
I did not watch the entire video...BUT...beware that if you agree with the terms of usage of the camera mfg, you allow them to keep and use all the footage captured by the camera and all of your personal data. Do you really want that?

Don’t take over, like wiring the bulb socket, more than I minute. Use your instruction’s sheet and be precise. Go over the steps in order, don’t jump around. My instruction sheet is so pale I can’t read them. I’m sure other folks may have the same problem. Make sure, when you’re showing something on your phone screen, that the camera picks that up and the observer can see it plainly. I’ve perused other folk’s instructions and with some adjustments your’s could be the best. Send me a notice when, if, you publish it. Thanks
@@macgregorxmagpie6279 I agree with you most of your statements about my video. I have gone back and edited out the long detailed demonstration of wiring the light socket. I gear my video for the people that know little about using tools and especially wiring 120 volt A/C. I will let people get help with that, it is really not needed to explain the camera. The problem I had with making a video demonstrating all the steps as they were written, is some were out of sequence. Also, I was loading App and performing all the steps for the first time. I had not done a run through before the video. You saw me learning as I went and you were looking over my shoulder. I did not have a camera person viewing how the phone and material held up could be viewed. I got to see all of it after I completed the video. This was a one shot video with editing done to remove areas that did not need to be shown. To edit or remake sections would meant, I have to delete the app, reset the camera back to factory settings then set up the work area in the proper order again to remake the whole video. Apps and the setup of a device is a very difficult thing to video as most times you have to go back as something does not work or you Wi-Fi is in a low data mode and a million other reason. The Lightbulb camera instruction were hard to read and out of sequence as I tried to follow them. I think it is the hardest thing to video and have it to come out great. I feel that I am helping some folks that don't even know how to begin to work with a project like this and gain a little confidence to try after watching my video and as I attempt to explain the steps. The main things I try to show and demonstrate is, use QR code to read and download App. The instructions show you must connect the lightbulb to the App first and create the account and name camera. The next part is you must connect the App to you home Wi-Fi. That is you have to use the Wi-Fi password of home Wi-Fi for that part. Once that is complete you are ready to communicate with the light bulb by way of the App and your Wi-Fi. This is true with all apps, they all have be be setup just like this. A person that has setup apps and devices will be able to do it will little problems. Wi-Fi signal causes most problems. You need to have the Bulb near the Wi-Fi for setup. forgot, there is one step in there that you hold your cell phone up to the camera and let the camera read a QR code that the app places on the screen to make final connection. The instruction do tell all of this, but takes a magnifying glass to read it. Once you are connected then you need to go to settings on the app for camera to set up recording times and a whole bunch of other items to fine tune how you want the camera to perform. I think it is a fun thing to play with. Anyway that is why the video came out as it did and I can't change it as I explained.

This camera cannot be connected to a fast WiFi like fiber optic or 5g only to 2.4G WiFi total waste of money and if you buy more than one the app don’t allow you to see more than one video unless you buy a very expensive cloud subscription from them that’s where the rip off comes in😡

You forgotten, or you were paid to forget, to mention that the camera only works for a day or two before it is shut down. In order to reactivate the camera, you MUST subscribe to their service which is rather costly. Also, the captured video or audio does not belong to you but to the manufacturer of the camera. So yeah, don’t mount it indoors or bedroom if privacy is a thing for you. Read the End User License Agreement before doing a review.
@johanea, I don't know what Camera you got, but the one I present in the video does not stop you from using your camera because you do not subscribe to their Cloud. It is only offered and not required. As far as the photos and video, they are stored on a Memory Card that you can take out and view or save the media on your PC. There are many many sellers of models of the Lightbulb Camera. I guess there will be some that use the tactic you mention, but not all. I find them a fun camera, I even mount them upside down and point to the sky to track the planets in the sky, and the moon. You could set them up to watch birds at a bird feeder or fountain. The have options to capture video 24/7 so you do not miss anything. The beauty of this camera is: Pan and Rotate, Track movement and follow, mount upside down and turn video over options, powered by A/C no special wiring. You can store your video and photos on a memory card that you can remove and replace. It is the most versatile camera to come out in a long time. One last thing, once set up with wifi connection, the camera can capture video 24/7 and you can manually move camera to postion you want to capture video. You can not control camera without wifi though. Look at your camera again and see if there is an option to use freely. Good Luck, I love mine.
@@samowens44 Dear Sam, in all fairness you may be correct that this camera may have different variants, makers and end user license agreements. As it is typical by any Chinese manufacturer, things differ. The camera I was looking at, and later sourced a video of, was an advertisement which claims the camera was "invented" by two Singaporean (not as I live in Singapore and know when a name is not Singaporean) engineers with Spanish names and supposedly cost about 45USD. In addition, the advertisement claimed that other known CCTV camera makers were stunned by this innovative camera as this camera basically knocked them out from the CCTV camera market. With all that, I would call an add bull shit and some investigation is due as I enjoy to find out stuff about bogus companies,. As for my own personal use, I use Dlink camera model DCS 8526LH which, after purchase, have no extra cloud fees although it is an option. All goes SD memory card and i can access it from any location. Thanks.
I think these cameras are rip off…If you have two cameras you cannot view them on one device unless you have a cloud subscription from them which is expensive
@Basil Clarke, like a lot of products now days, they want you to buy the cloud that is a continuous flow of money. The product only gives you basic few operations and the cloud gets you the better stuff. This works with my GoPro 11 camera I just spent $300. You have to have the cloud to use all the good stuff for your video captures. It is called "Marketing". Anytime you see a product that offers a cloud with the product, just figure that into the price of the product and buy or don't buy. @@samowens44 This is not "marketing", it's scummy business behavior to sell overpriced online storage by pay walling features that are built into the hardware and keeping all your data to boot. Local cloud NAS storage is a thing and crap like locking you into a specific ecosystem needs to stop as all it is designed to do is to squeeze paying customers for as much money as possible. It's unacceptable and unnecessary and needs to stop being thought of as "just the way things are now" or "normal". This is in the same vein as having to pay BMW to be able to use your cars heated seats (look that BS up if you haven't already).

They want to sell you their cloud service and that is where they make their profits, not on the camera, kind of like the Printer and Ink cartridges. These cameras are a scam. Don't buy these cameras. They let you use it for about 3 weeks, then shut it off. When you call costumer service, they tell you to continue to use this cam, you must sign up on their wifi which can get expensive!!! And in the contact you agreed to, States this company has the right to keep everything seen by these cameras. Do your research. Don't take my word. But believe you find what I said true
Mine has a good picture but alerts me when there is no motion but doesn’t alert me when there is motion. I get multiple alerts for no reason but when someone comes to my door, no alert. What gives?
To all, this camera is a piece of junk. Oh you get live view as long as your on their app watching and oh yeah the joke of an alert wont show any video. You have to pay minimum a $100 a year to actually be able to record anything and the camera is useless outdoors. No dampness no dust this camera cant handle it. This camera is junk. Just a way to get your money.

@Robert Williams, sorry you have problems. I have not hear of a problem of your description. If you got it form Amazon, you can return it and get your money back. I believe it has to be within 30 days.
@isithotmama, this camera like all, use an App Yi Lot. All Apps require you to sign up for an account. Now, I show in another video, you do not have to use the app to have the camera record video. You can not control the camera, but I don't need to, I just point the camera down my drive way and let it record. I turn the app on when I want to control the camera for a period of time when I am away from home. You can manage the camera the way you want. Look at my other video Light bulb Camera operation secrets.
So far after a month working fine. I did delete the cam from the app and reset the cam back to factory settings by pushing the reset button next to memory card. A little hole is reset. I reloaded the whole camera and connected back to app and Wi-Fi. I did a video of that and it is on my TH-cam channel. So you can do it if things don’t seem right.
BUYER BEWARE! What you fail to mention in your video is that after a few days of free security service provided from the installed camera and app it will cease working until you purchase a costly subscriptin to continue using the camera. The company, according to its terms agreement in the contract, is allowed to keep all of the secured data, VIDEO and AUDIO, that the camera has captured. Knowing that would you install one of these cameras inside your home with the provided base?
Not only this, which is a major 'hidden' cost and security risk, but what's stopping some thief from just walking up and unscrewing the camera and stealing the whole camera. There's a reason other security camera companies secure the camera with security or hidden screws and bolts.
@@StellarJay77 That's true. Even if there wasn't any hidden costs or the socket is so high up that a thief would need a ladder to steal it. You would be losing that socket to a light bulb source which is why the socket was put there in the first place. That camera is a very poor substitute as a light source.

I have the similar camera model, compatible with Tuya and Smart Life app. I have noticed, as you can observ in the video, that the camera can be moved with PTZ controls in pan and tilt. But, in the movement sensor mode, only moves in pan looking for the object or person that is moving in front of it, with no tilt movement. This is a firmware issue, because my Fuers Tuya compatible camera does it and in search movement mode, moves pan & tilt. Do you know if there is a firmware update that solves this issue?
Sam, you are great! I was stressed about these cameras. I purchased four of them! I have struggled to hook them up with no success but now I will use your video. Thank you. The seller I used does NOT issue refunds, that also added to my stress. I wonder if I can use the led light more often than not with the camera? Maybe press the light button like you showed and leave it on? These little cameras are taking up a spot for an outside light or flood light at our house so light is needed. I bet the led light comes on when there is motion but that is not all the time. You are the best source of info on these cameras on the web.

I bought this exact camera and use the same app, I use the free SD card it came with and chose to save to SD instead of subscribing to the cloud service, so far no issues.

@eddielai8831, this Lightbulb Camera is very popular because it can be powered from a light socket. No special wiring. It can also be manually turned for an angle of capture without WiFi and the App for the folks are afraid of being hacked. Eddie you should look at some of my other video about the camera on my youtube camera. I have about 4 or 5 that cover the secrets, the memory card and operation. I discovered more things as time goes on and published what I found. Enjoy the many options of your camera.

Yes, they keep your data but only if you get the subscription. To avoid that just a an SD card
I’ve heard it cuts the app function after trial and it only works again with a subscription. So it’s not about using their cloud.
The best solution is to stay out of it.
I saw another video where a guy had a similar unit that after a few days it cut off from his Wi-Fi and he had to buy a subscription to keep it working. Had to agree to their terms and he said to read the whole thing because he found out they can keep your data. I hope this one doesn't do this to you.
I have had mine since July and have used it with motion detection without Wi-Fi connection. No cloud just the cam. Have not had anything to happen.

The video sett can be set to record all the time or only when motion is detected. I set mine to all the time. When I want to see video for a certain time period, I pull the memory card and look for the time period. To move through video quickly, just click on play cursor for video and drag at a faster speed than regular play. Amazing how fast you can look at 4 hours of video like that. Good luck. Use the Wi-Fi connection when it is just watching your house and not you.

In the upper right of camera view, click on the little gear symble. That is the settings tab. Look for Motion detection and click it on. You can set low to high sensor. I go for medium.

That wiring is the part I was hoping to see and you skipped it! LOL! Someone said you could hook it up to a battery as well if you didn't want to mess with your house electric wiring. Have you tried that? I want to hook another one up but don't have any more light sockets available. I thought I could try the wiring bit...but I don't know exactly how to go about that. I know you have to turn the circuit breaker off tho! ;o)
@chrinamint here is a simple answer to your need for a light socket that you can mount and cord and plug are attached. The socket base type is called E26. You can search for other types of sockets and pick what works. Here is link to one I suggest on Amazon. amzn.to/3JBPMly
@@samowens44 they sent one with me with each of my light bulb cameras that I bought but there were no instructions on how to use that part. The little instruction thing only talked about setting the camera up with the app and everything. All these people that are splitting wires and hooking them on there I don't know about that kind of stuff.

Start reading the instruction and the contract you might be surprised what you find out about it. You could end up being charged a bunch of money to use it and they get to keep your data
@Dale Gray, thanks for your comments. I have had my camera for a few months now and have not had any problems. I use it with my Wi-Fi disabled for access to camera. I don't turn my whole WiFi off, only access for the camera. The camera will record video outside my house and store on memory card. If I want to control or control the camera, I turn on Wi-Fi and turn it off when I don't care about controlling the position of cam view. I have had no charges or contact from the company about charges. No I do not sign up for cloud services. I would never do that as they have access to your info. My camera is safe for me the way I use it. I only have my camera monitoring the outside of my house, not my bedroom, bathroom or any of the private areas of inside my house. I think that is what most people are afraid of hackers viewing their privacy. The cloud is another place to say away from and you do not require it to use the camera. Hope my experience will help folks understand the range of uses and security you can use and have fun with this camera. It tracks cars going down the street and people walking. The fun camera I have owned.

My micro SD card fell into the inner guts of the camera! (There is a gap between the card holder and the camera, so be careful). I was able to retrieve the SD card by removing the three little screws and opening it up. (Cool tech inside).
Anyway, it's working now.

It will only 'click-in' one way. Although it does take a precise touch using your fingernail (or other tool) to get the card in deep enough to engage the locking mechanism.

@brucequintana6619, yes, it does seem that the camera does not want to easily capture code. I found, move around to different lighting conditions, then you move the camera in and out twisting as you move in in and out. It may take several attempts, but you will get it soon, just try other areas, too much light I found causes trouble. Good luck, I know you will get it now! I am with you!!

@Just Vlog Everythiing, yes, with memory card in computer, delete away. I do it all the time. The camera will write over the oldest files when the card fills up from recording, so you don't have to delete.

There is an app that is required to work with the camera. All apps need to create an account. That does not mean a credit card is needed. You need to create a user name and password. If you have not worked with creating an app account, get someone to help you.

No, it only works with the App on your Cell phone. You have no options to download the app to a PC. The only way to operate the camera is through the App.
It works with an iPad, should work with lap top or pc also.
Can you mount the device pointing up instead of down. My porch light bulb installs with the bulb pointing up, not down.
@jamesbronson2247, yes you can mount upside down and the video will be upside down, but, you have an option on the the main screen of the App upper right hand side to turn the video over 180 degrees. I use this option all the time.

You repeat several times that you have "signed up", but... at no time do you say WHAT you actually have signed up to ! That's quite interesting. So, here are people somewhere on the other side of the globe, who actually take control of a camera you just installed in YOUR home, and who ask you to... @dlaloux8491 sorry if you did not understand about "sign up", let me explain in a little more detail. Now viewing the video again, at the point I open the instruction booklet, I say we need to down load the App. That is the key thing that tells you that the camera is controlled by an App. All Apps, you have to create an account, that is called Sign up. Once you follow the button for Sign up, you need to create a user name and password so only you can access the App. Once you Sign up, latter you will "Sign In" to the app. You will use the user name and Password you just created. I point the sign up because you can not sign in until you have signed up for the App. This was supposed to be my way of not letting you get confused and try to sign in before signing up. Looks like I created a bigger misunderstanding for you, sorry. You are signing up for the App. All Apps work this way and no this is not a place on the other side of the world. You access the app from you cell phone so the app is Ok. Now if you do not know how to download the App, we have a lot more to talk about, let me know and I will explain that in detail.

No, you can buy cloud storage or not still will work. Video is stored on memory card.

How do I change the language to English can you give me a little assistance? I'm not sure what state that you're located in I'm in New Jersey and I wanted to know how do I change the setting ? Just go to your App Store on your Phone and look up the Yi Lot App and download, should be in English.
5:30 when you sign up do you have to put your router password into the app so the cameras have access to the wifi? How does that part work? Is that the software password? Or do you have a original password for the app and put in the router password in a different area of the app?
@Za Z. You are using the Wi-Fi password for your router to sign the app into your router.
It did wierd things to my WiFi during set up. Only option for a Web cloud is Chinese, don't get naked in front of it... Not Private! Not water proof. I took it apart for parts, uses cheap 24BYJ48 steppers that won't last a week. Not Recommended.
Thanks for your input. I did not have problems with my unit, you could return a product you are no satisfied. Working with different Wi-Fi can present problems with a lot of products.

It's dim and at night you can't really see anything when you go outside or on when you check your phone through the camera

@MLynette Pinky, I hope you are just being funny or if you are serious, I am going to explain the Light Bulb Camera features. I primary feature is to capture video and can track motion when motion feature is set in the settings. It has inferred lighting for night video capture. It does have a bright light that you can activate to light up the area, or have it to come on automatic is an alert is triggered. The light I featured may be different than the one you got from Walmart, mine does not have any colored light settings. Anyway, it is not the correct product if you want to use it as a night light for your front porch. I suggest you take it back and get a regular light bulb to use for proper lighting that you state you want. Thanks for commenting.

@d.Morris9313 first have your camera close to your Wi-Fi router. See if you can control the camera rotation and control up and down. If it works, your camera does not receive a strong enough signal. This camera needs to be within 30 feet or less for good control. Also, the more walls and obstacles the signal goes through, you will have operational control issues. I use a Wi-Fi extender to give a better camera performance. You link the extender to your Wi-Fi signal an place the extender close to camera. That will extend the 30 ft to 60 ft range. If this is not the problem get the cam close to the Wi-Fi and reset up camera.
I have tried numerous times connecting this camera, mine I think is a dud ones, it does not move, does not tilt but makes the sounds and the lights flashes, had to delete and download the apps a few times and enter the id, to no avail 🤔, once I have put in details of wifi as such, tries to connect but has to go to register and I tried to tap, it says invalid 🤔🤔 I thought once you download the app it will tell you to register but it did not, what am I doing wrong 😑😑🤔🤔
I believe it's a scam company. I ordered some myself and trying to get a refund with no avail. They don't answer email or phone. So I'm reporting them as a scam to my credit card company!

No reprogram needed. The app is the program the camera connects by Wi-Fi. That happens automatically when power comes on.
How do you make the floodlights work
There is a flashlight icon to the right of the App camera view screen. Tap on it and you will see auto, open and close. Click on open. To turn off, click on close.
What is the software need to record and store to a home computer instead of the cloud
Just remove the memory card and put it in your computer memory card reader slot. You can view your video.

@@lynnmallery5385 The App YI Lot is the control software for the Camera. It is the only thing other than the memory card that will capture and store video. It is just easy to put the Memory card in your computer and view the video. You can do that without using wifi or the app.
The camera is wifi connected. A company locking out or making it extremely convoluted if not impossible to use your own NAS storage for video footage and pushing you instead to use their own overpriced cloud solution that states right in their agreement that they get to keep your data is super scummy. Plus this is a smart lightbulb making it super easy to steal means if you don't use the cloud you lose any recordings on the device. And who wants to have to go out to collect the SD card every so often if the camera is installed in a hard to reach place to prevent it getting stolen? this is a big nope from me for purchasing.

Make sure your camera and cell phone are on the same wiFi. If cellphone is on Cellular data it will not connect. I think this may be the problem. Good luck.

@williamburdon6993, if you are buying cloud service for the Camera, you will have to pay somehow. If you are just using the camera without cloud, no credit card is need, tell them to buzz off.
Another issue. I can't get it to reconnect to my wifi.
Unscrew the bulb from the power socket and reinstall. This will recycle the cam.
If you take another look at the mounting base it says 220v.
@tayro yes and it shows a range of 110 _ 220V. A lot of products have a voltage regulator that allow for a range of operating voltage. Other countries have 220V as household voltage.
@@samowens44 Yea well running 220 v mains in a cheap Chinese toy...
So I gutted mine and found you can remove the power supply board, mains lead and use it's low v wiring. Run the 5v low wires to an S2 LiPo charger/5v buck converters output.
Connected the S2 boards input to a barrel connector. Pulled the lower motor out and ground down the plastic shaft it mated with. Drilled holes to bolt the ears of the motor to. Then made a shaft that I epoxied in the Edison connector to remount the now upside down motor on and fixed the two batts and charger to the body of the motor.
The barrel connector comes out the side of the camera mount and the lower motor can now spin in an endless circle.
I fill it's safer maybe more versatile.
Planning to run the numbers on the chips and see if I can make it do what I want it to do instead of what China hoped it would do.

I would shake the bulb and see if you can rotate the bulb as you shake it. The camera may work fine with the card in there if yo can’t get it out. Get another card and be careful.

After trying every possible option to connect to the camera, after listening to the lady screaming at me to hold my phone steady 15-20 cm away from camera to get QR code and never getting one... after many other obstacles, I used the reset button and gently placed this piece of trash in the garbage bag.
At least this one wasn't expensive....

@Nick Perez, well, this is the micro card and it is the most popular mem card that I did not think it a problem when I created this video. I will tell you, the location is the slot on the bottom of the camera. Now the slot is tilted, so the card does not go straight in, it has a tilt, with a corner that will stick up more on the outside part of the bottom of the camera. You place the colored side away from the lens of the camera and push in slowly finding the path and at one point you will find it and be able to push and feel tension. Push on the tension and it will go in and stop, then slowly let go and it will stay. You do have to explore the correct path as it is something you have to feel and can not watch someone do it. I bought 2 of them. One would not setup even though I can see image with direct connection. So, 50/50. Guess I'll go back to table or wall mounted.
Only old style porch lights hang down, new homes aren't like that , so it can't be placed right side up than in wall mounted outside light's on your porch?
@bearams6945, you can mount it upside down. The video will be upside down, but there is a button in top of App screen view the will turn the video normal. It is a half circle with arrow on each end. Click it and your video will be right side up.

@@samowens44 Yes on my app it is called flip. If you did have to put the camera upside down,or in a lamp or something, you can flip the view so that the image would be, right side up. I dont have the same camera or use the same app he does, but they all seem similiar. I have mine installed, only to view the outside of my house. Didnt get them for inside view. Haven't had to buy any subscription to continue using mine either.

I did not watch the entire video...BUT...beware that if you agree with the terms of usage of the camera mfg, you allow them to keep and use all the footage captured by the camera and all of your personal data. Do you really want that?
Be aware that these type of cameras can be hacked or even turned off by someone using the same app you are.
Cams today won't work on anything but a cell phone. This is crap. I'm not pleased.

Don’t take over, like wiring the bulb socket, more than I minute. Use your instruction’s sheet and be precise. Go over the steps in order, don’t jump around. My instruction sheet is so pale I can’t read them. I’m sure other folks may have the same problem. Make sure, when you’re showing something on your phone screen, that the camera picks that up and the observer can see it plainly. I’ve perused other folk’s instructions and with some adjustments your’s could be the best. Send me a notice when, if, you publish it. Thanks
@@macgregorxmagpie6279 I agree with you most of your statements about my video. I have gone back and edited out the long detailed demonstration of wiring the light socket. I gear my video for the people that know little about using tools and especially wiring 120 volt A/C. I will let people get help with that, it is really not needed to explain the camera. The problem I had with making a video demonstrating all the steps as they were written, is some were out of sequence. Also, I was loading App and performing all the steps for the first time. I had not done a run through before the video. You saw me learning as I went and you were looking over my shoulder. I did not have a camera person viewing how the phone and material held up could be viewed. I got to see all of it after I completed the video. This was a one shot video with editing done to remove areas that did not need to be shown. To edit or remake sections would meant, I have to delete the app, reset the camera back to factory settings then set up the work area in the proper order again to remake the whole video. Apps and the setup of a device is a very difficult thing to video as most times you have to go back as something does not work or you Wi-Fi is in a low data mode and a million other reason. The Lightbulb camera instruction were hard to read and out of sequence as I tried to follow them. I think it is the hardest thing to video and have it to come out great. I feel that I am helping some folks that don't even know how to begin to work with a project like this and gain a little confidence to try after watching my video and as I attempt to explain the steps. The main things I try to show and demonstrate is, use QR code to read and download App. The instructions show you must connect the lightbulb to the App first and create the account and name camera. The next part is you must connect the App to you home Wi-Fi. That is you have to use the Wi-Fi password of home Wi-Fi for that part. Once that is complete you are ready to communicate with the light bulb by way of the App and your Wi-Fi. This is true with all apps, they all have be be setup just like this. A person that has setup apps and devices will be able to do it will little problems. Wi-Fi signal causes most problems. You need to have the Bulb near the Wi-Fi for setup. forgot, there is one step in there that you hold your cell phone up to the camera and let the camera read a QR code that the app places on the screen to make final connection. The instruction do tell all of this, but takes a magnifying glass to read it. Once you are connected then you need to go to settings on the app for camera to set up recording times and a whole bunch of other items to fine tune how you want the camera to perform. I think it is a fun thing to play with. Anyway that is why the video came out as it did and I can't change it as I explained.

This camera cannot be connected to a fast WiFi like fiber optic or 5g only to 2.4G WiFi total waste of money and if you buy more than one the app don’t allow you to see more than one video unless you buy a very expensive cloud subscription from them that’s where the rip off comes in😡

You forgotten, or you were paid to forget, to mention that the camera only works for a day or two before it is shut down.
In order to reactivate the camera, you MUST subscribe to their service which is rather costly.
Also, the captured video or audio does not belong to you but to the manufacturer of the camera.
So yeah, don’t mount it indoors or bedroom if privacy is a thing for you.

@johanea, I don't know what Camera you got, but the one I present in the video does not stop you from using your camera because you do not subscribe to their Cloud. It is only offered and not required. As far as the photos and video, they are stored on a Memory Card that you can take out and view or save the media on your PC. There are many many sellers of models of the Lightbulb Camera. I guess there will be some that use the tactic you mention, but not all. I find them a fun camera, I even mount them upside down and point to the sky to track the planets in the sky, and the moon. You could set them up to watch birds at a bird feeder or fountain. The have options to capture video 24/7 so you do not miss anything. The beauty of this camera is: Pan and Rotate, Track movement and follow, mount upside down and turn video over options, powered by A/C no special wiring. You can store your video and photos on a memory card that you can remove and replace. It is the most versatile camera to come out in a long time. One last thing, once set up with wifi connection, the camera can capture video 24/7 and you can manually move camera to postion you want to capture video. You can not control camera without wifi though. Look at your camera again and see if there is an option to use freely. Good Luck, I love mine.
@@samowens44 Dear Sam, in all fairness you may be correct that this camera may have different variants, makers and end user license agreements. As it is typical by any Chinese manufacturer, things differ.
The camera I was looking at, and later sourced a video of, was an advertisement which claims the camera was "invented" by two Singaporean (not as I live in Singapore and know when a name is not Singaporean) engineers with Spanish names and supposedly cost about 45USD. In addition, the advertisement claimed that other known CCTV camera makers were stunned by this innovative camera as this camera basically knocked them out from the CCTV camera market.
With all that, I would call an add bull shit and some investigation is due as I enjoy to find out stuff about bogus companies,.
As for my own personal use, I use Dlink camera model DCS 8526LH which, after purchase, have no extra cloud fees although it is an option. All goes SD memory card and i can access it from any location.

@Basil Clarke, like a lot of products now days, they want you to buy the cloud that is a continuous flow of money. The product only gives you basic few operations and the cloud gets you the better stuff. This works with my GoPro 11 camera I just spent $300. You have to have the cloud to use all the good stuff for your video captures. It is called "Marketing". Anytime you see a product that offers a cloud with the product, just figure that into the price of the product and buy or don't buy. @@samowens44 This is not "marketing", it's scummy business behavior to sell overpriced online storage by pay walling features that are built into the hardware and keeping all your data to boot. Local cloud NAS storage is a thing and crap like locking you into a specific ecosystem needs to stop as all it is designed to do is to squeeze paying customers for as much money as possible. It's unacceptable and unnecessary and needs to stop being thought of as "just the way things are now" or "normal". This is in the same vein as having to pay BMW to be able to use your cars heated seats (look that BS up if you haven't already).
@@StellarJay77 I agree about the cloud, I have found all the surveillance cameras I have tested use the cloud as their base video storage. They want to sell you their cloud service and that is where they make their profits, not on the camera, kind of like the Printer and Ink cartridges. I think the cool thing about the camera is, you can pan and tilt to capture and change your view, a low cost fun thing for my use. Thanks you your coments.

These cameras are a scam. Don't buy these cameras. They let you use it for about 3 weeks, then shut it off. When you call costumer service, they tell you to continue to use this cam, you must sign up on their wifi which can get expensive!!!
And in the contact you agreed to, States this company has the right to keep everything seen by these cameras. Do your research. Don't take my word. But believe you find what I said true
Mine has a good picture but alerts me when there is no motion but doesn’t alert me when there is motion. I get multiple alerts for no reason but when someone comes to my door, no alert. What gives?
Go to settings and look at sensitivity setting. Change the settings and test for results.

Turn motion detection off, wait a few min then turn back on. If this does not work you could try resetting your camera and set up again.
To all, this camera is a piece of junk. Oh you get live view as long as your on their app watching and oh yeah the joke of an alert wont show any video. You have to pay minimum a $100 a year to actually be able to record anything and the camera is useless outdoors. No dampness no dust this camera cant handle it. This camera is junk. Just a way to get your money.

@Robert Williams, sorry you have problems. I have not hear of a problem of your description. If you got it form Amazon, you can return it and get your money back. I believe it has to be within 30 days.

@isithotmama, this camera like all, use an App Yi Lot. All Apps require you to sign up for an account. Now, I show in another video, you do not have to use the app to have the camera record video. You can not control the camera, but I don't need to, I just point the camera down my drive way and let it record. I turn the app on when I want to control the camera for a period of time when I am away from home. You can manage the camera the way you want. So far after a month working fine. I did delete the cam from the app and reset the cam back to factory settings by pushing the reset button next to memory card. A little hole is reset. I reloaded the whole camera and connected back to app and Wi-Fi. I did a video of that and it is on my TH-cam channel. So you can do it if things don’t seem right.
And also, I’m curious if the light part burns out like a normal lightbulb would, how do you replace that on this particular lightbulb?
If a memory card is installed a subscription will still be necessary to keep it working?

What you fail to mention in your video is that after a few days of free security service provided from the installed camera and app it will cease working until you purchase a costly subscriptin to continue using the camera. The company, according to its terms agreement in the contract, is allowed to keep all of the secured data, VIDEO and AUDIO, that the camera has captured. Knowing that would you install one of these cameras inside your home with the provided base?
Not only this, which is a major 'hidden' cost and security risk, but what's stopping some thief from just walking up and unscrewing the camera and stealing the whole camera. There's a reason other security camera companies secure the camera with security or hidden screws and bolts.

You would be losing that socket to a light bulb source which is why the socket was put there in the first place. That camera is a very poor substitute as a light source.

I have the similar camera model, compatible with Tuya and Smart Life app. I have noticed, as you can observ in the video, that the camera can be moved with PTZ controls in pan and tilt. But, in the movement sensor mode, only moves in pan looking for the object or person that is moving in front of it, with no tilt movement. This is a firmware issue, because my Fuers Tuya compatible camera does it and in search movement mode, moves pan & tilt. Do you know if there is a firmware update that solves this issue?

Sam, you are great! I was stressed about these cameras. I purchased four of them! I have struggled to hook them up with no success but now I will use your video. Thank you. The seller I used does NOT issue refunds, that also added to my stress. I wonder if I can use the led light more often than not with the camera? Maybe press the light button like you showed and leave it on? These little cameras are taking up a spot for an outside light or flood light at our house so light is needed. I bet the led light comes on when there is motion but that is not all the time. You are the best source of info on these cameras on the web.
