The fact that they show us a lavabender in Yu Dao, a former fire nation colony, could be a hint at a theory concerning lavabending: the theory that lavabending requires a bender with connections to both earth and fire. We've seen several Avatars lavabend, we've seen Bolin (whose mother was a firebender) and now we see Sun who is from Yu Dao where it's very likely that families are mixed between Earth nationals and Fire nationals.
But did they ever say that Bolin's mother is a firebender? I just remember her being from the fire nation. She might be a firebender, but I don’t think they ever mentioned that
And check her eyes. They're orange.
it has nothing to do with heritage, more personality.
gazan and bolin are both laid backs while the beifongs and korra/kuvira are both hard asses.

Well, you can make an argument about Toph in Korra Boiling food in the swamp with lavabending, but that was never confirmed and can be just burned coal.
This comic was actually really nice. Nice and fun, and a good break from the normal comic formula. Great job editing as always

Dude they aren’t animating the comics. They said that. Everything they will animate will be new source material that will be foreign to us so no comics are being animated just original stuff.

Hey Zack. It's been a long time since I've thought about your channel. I've been a fan for a while, actually. Back when you would upload the Seven Deadly Sins chapters and animate them, it would be the highlight of my week. I must have religiously followed your channel for months and months. In particular your Meliodas vs Ten Commandments was an all time favourite for me. I'm trying to find a re-upload somewhere to watch it. I remember coming back to your channel only to see God of War gameplay and checking up now and then to no avail. Your channel made a huge impact on my life, as did the Seven Deadly Sins. I probably wasn't gonna read this comic. But I was recommended it after getting into a discussion about Sun on a Ruins of the Empire video. NO REGRETS. I enjoyed this comic :). Chong and his band are back. They were well placed in this story. And now Zuko's the only one left out of Team Avatar who hasn't interacted with them. The messages here were good too. Sun's an interesting one. A homeless earthbender and lavabender who has issues with the Earth Kingdom, and MAYBE Aang at least by association. And he (now formerly) fights in underground tournaments and sometimes causes scenes with his lavabending. Gotta admit, the guy looks like Opal. As in could be her grandfather. MAYBE he's Su's dad and he and Toph caught feelings. Or he could be Baatar Sr's dad. They all have the same gold eyes. There's a chance that maybe Sun and Ghazan are connected too. I know it's kind of a loose thread, but the idea that they WEREN'T is equally as loose considering lots of things could have happened in the decades in between to make it so. Sun has issues with the Earth Kingdom and Kuei. Sounding like Ghazan's issues with government in general. Maybe Sun passed down his views to Ghazan if they are connected. Great ending too.

in my opinion, the theory that bolin / ghazan will win against toph because the lava bending is wrong. because from this comic we know that Toph has experienced with lava bending, because Toph is the one who teaches controlling it so Toph knows how to handle lava bender

I ordered this book on book club at my school I’m waiting for it
The story was amazing but there's a weird plot hole with Toph and the Musicians (Chong, Moku and Lilly), in the "Love potion #8" comic Toph had already meet them and So the kid named Ohev that traveled with them.
The comic took place during Book 3 and it was released on December 16 -2008
Unless that "Love potion #8" is no longer canon in the Avatar universe 😭
