60 HOURS of PM&R Call | Life as a DOCTOR

  • Come with me during my 60 hour weekend of call! PM&R (physical medicine and rehabilitation) is certainly not as stressful as many fields, but we still take call and have to know how to handle emergent situations as doctors. This is all part of life as a doctor and hopefully gives more insight into call as a PM&R resident.
I also talk briefly about one of the main PM&R emergencies, autonomic dysreflexia! I hope you enjoy this day in the life video and thank you for watching

Wooo!! Although it's never my intention to sway people I think more students need to hear about the field and so I'm glad these videos are helpful!! Thank you for watching and commenting. Feel free to email or reach out if you have other questions along the way

Love how insightful your videos are! I'm currently an undergrad going through the motions with Pre-Med prereq's, so watching your videos going into details about PM&R has helped my motivation!

“Putting yourself into patient’s situation, thinking about getting meds at 11 pm”, what simple yet could over sought and times when task are repetitive.
Also, spotted your new cat :)

Great video! Loved listening to you explain your thought process as a PM&R Doc.
Love to see that you are slowly doing more and more PM&R specific topics rather than general Pre-Med/Medical School issues.
    Cheers

It’s tough being on call. No rest. Full responsibility. You have to live in there. I used it to pull 16 hours back to back in the ER. You know it.

What is the pay like for a PM&R doctor? obviously if we do more procedures, the higher the compensation. Thanks

I think in the past PM&R has been closed down because like Cardiology many patients were sooner discovered to suffer from metabolic issues and an intolerace to Chlorine and other elements which then will mask or pass as an injury or noninjury. Yes, PM&R is highly neglected. It may also require a dietician medical doctor working around the O'clock. In other words, I think any injury lowers metabolic threshold. Not only that, the injury will be cyclical when lactose build up happens...this is old information...so for that there's the Tetanus shot..but that only works below the brain threshold. There I think a simplex shot is administered to help the brain clear of any debris like lactose that may build up to cause cyclical issues. So in other words, without the Triage ER administering these the healing is much slower exponentially slower and these vaccinations work as catalysts because lactose build up, apparently may also cause other issues, spasms and rigor etc. with very slow progress and more complications without these.

how does a call shift work into your work schedule? Do you get paid for the entire 60 hours on-call? Does the 60 hour count towards the work week? Thank you!

It’s essential in the US all MDs wear suit and tie. In other countries not so much. Pre round is also cool plus sign out is super good.

You may need many governors in the psychiatric units as patients. De Santis knows nothing about immigration. When the immigration is not legal and overextended through a voyage and journey...doesn't matter if its land, sea or the dessert...these immigrants will require dollars and will be dead from cancer in a period of 2 to 10 years max 20 years. Some will require kidney transplants due to heavy alcohol use and no strategies for coping with the immigration. Next, when they work in landscaping etc. or gardening, they will also be affected by cancer in the same number of years...just like becoming an automechanic. So unless De Santis is trained on how not to be a racist...and creates a system of charge backs...the Florida Governorship like the California is bankrupted and all water and draft and a breeze...that means they're all imposters and uneducated etc..besides engaged in a lot of fraud and money laundering by covering it up with immigration....so quite vain and futile the attempts. First learn about the ecosystem. Now do realize there is a limit to marshy land and that too becomes sewer with over population..good luck drinking water in the inner city or in rural america and that has always been an issue in Florida along with Tropical Infectious Disease and Pathology.

Agree! It was my first time with the flip out screen camera so I will definitely work on that, thanks! Also had some weird settings I think with color changing
