      @@silvervalleystudios2486 is correct.
Lethal Weapon is referencing a long tradition of cop movies.
Introducing Murtaugh the way they did was leaning into the trope as hard as possible.

My head canon: he’s transported to the movie being played by the ticket, not all copies of movies. The parts where they interact with other characters is like the in between cuts that you don’t see when they teleport. So they enter a kinda cinema shared world before all going back to their individual movie plots

Last Action Hero is meta, before meta was a thing. Confusion about "movie world" versus "real world" is understandable, here's my theory: Danny isn't from our reality, he's in "Last Action Hero world" and Jack's from "movie within a movie world". Fantastical things exist because we're watching a movie that has Danny as a character.

There should be a film where Tony is pulled out of the fictional Hack the Movies universe. His powers of internet stardom and popularity greatly diminished, Tony would have to meet the real world Tony, a humble immigrant pizzeria owner with a dream of singing opera for the queen. By helping the real Tony achieve his dream (and enjoying some pizza pie along the way) Tony just might be able to find his way back to the video store.

This has always been one of my favorite movies, I was 14 when it came out in theaters and I thought it was just another action movie so the fact it was a parody had me laughing throughout the entire film. It was a pleasant surprise. Seeing Sylvester Stallone as the Terminator made the movie for me. Another part I've always loved is when Arnold is telling his Daughter, next he's gonna tell you he loved you in Gone With The Wind. I've often quoted that line when I hear someone give someone else a compliment.

Last Action Hero is such a FANTASTIC satirical take on the action genre. No cliche is left unturned, no action scene is too over the top, the one liners are here aplenty, impossible feats are done every other 10 minutes, etc. It also has an all around tremendous cast. Schwarzenegger, Tom Nonan, F. Murray Abraham, Charles Dance, Bridgette Wilson, Art Carney (in what would be his final role), Anthony Quinn, Robert Prosky, and tons of cameos from famous actors like Sharon Stone as Catherine Tramell, Robert Patrick as the T-1000, Tina Turner, Jean Claude Van Dam, Jim Belushi, Damon Waynes, Danny Devito, Sir Ian McKellen, and more. Personally I thought the critics were WAY off on this one. Definitely one of my favorite Arnold films.

It was pretty impressive but then again it did star Arnold Schwarzenegger so it was a given.

I don’t think a lot of the mistakes or shoddy effects can really be considered goofs. It’s kind of the whole point of the movie.

I always thought that the "movie verse" was based on what Danny knew from his experiances with movies. Explains why he is familiar with all of the extra referances that only he understands.

Arnold Schwarzenegger doing a parody of himself and having a blast at doing the best one-liners in one film, oh yeah last action hero is my jam.

I watch Hack the Movies with a blindfold on because the famous Tony is too powerful to look at with human eyes.

went ahead and looked it up since i was curious as well... according to wikipedia, arnold schwartzenegger's highest earnings for a single production is Terminator 3 at a wopping $29,250,000! just shy of Mel Gibson's $30,000,000 for Lethal Weapon 4

It was also his first flop. Speaking of Arnolds salary I think he took 40 mil plus a small box office percentage for Batman and Robin. He demanded 30 mil for T3 and got it. He hasn't made anywhere near that since his comeback to movies in 2011. But I'm sure he's not crying poor.

I used the Lawnmower trimmer, and my balls went "Thanks for cleaning my bedroom." I'm being checked for a brain tumor as soon as I can, after that.
