Side story, my uncle was an artist on a bunch of comic books during the 80's to the early 2000s. And one of the comic books he worked on was Judge Dredd. During the making of the Stallone Judge Dredd, everyone working on the comic was allowed to visit the set and meet some of the cast. My uncle was able to shake hands and talk with Stallone. And even was invited to the premier and was only a few rows back from the cast!! Probably the closest my uncle was to being a celebrity.

It’s true. I especially love the use of slow motion effects in the action scenes through the plot device of the “slow mo” which enabled the director to present sequences with a look straight out of the panels of a 2000AD comic book. Incidentally the cinematographer on “Dredd” was Anthony Dod Mantle of “28 Days Later” another filmed that employed high frame rate for creative effect

The reason it's called a minigun is because it fires rifle caliber cartridges instead of 20mm auto cannon rounds. They are used mostly on helicopters or LAVs.. They don't have any handheld versions as in Predator as the lighest version is around 45lbs sans ammunition, electric motor, and power supply. Willy Pete "White Phosphorus" was used mainly in WWII to Vietnam, but is still used mainly for spotting purposes. Hollowpoint ammunition is also "outlawed" by the Geneva Convention, but API is not. US police use hollowpoint ammunition, I use FMJ or "Ball" for target practice, and HP or Glazier type for EDC depending on the environment.

The gun mounted in the back of the jeep in Rambo was NOT a minigun. That was a Browning M2--also known as the "Ma Deuce".

A Paul verhoeven directed 1995 dredd film starring Schwarzenegger (who was the initail choice but turned it down) would have been class!

Legit one of my favorite movies and it wasn’t even directed by Spielsberg.

Dredd was based on Dirty Harry, and Plissken in turn was indeed based on Dredd, at least in his manner and the way he talks.

The Raid and Dredd are both incredible movies for different reasons. It's unfair to call one a rip off of the other just cuz they came out around the same time. The Raid didn't create the concept of having a movie take place in one building

I remember seeing this movie in theaters, in 3D, too! I am so glad that I got to experience it that way. It was such a major flop (financially) but it was a great film.

I think it's simple - we NEED Karl Urban back as Judge Dredd.
A sequel, a prequel, a mini-series, whatever, we NEED him back as Dredd.
